“The house of eyes”

What stood before me was an enormous gate, which had eroded away through time; the thin rusted iron bars were entwined and swallowed by the diseased, dried up ivy as if the roots were like witch fingers. It created a rustling noise by the chilling wind of the autumn season. I feel the mysterious place is sucking me in like a black hole filled with darkness the longer I stand out in the silent rocky pavement. The autumn leaves danced across my feet like mice while the glimmering moonlight shone upon me in front of this a distorted house. Many news have been told about “The house of eyes”, the place where people said “once you’re a part of it there’s no turning back”. I just don’t believe that ghost exist, I have to proof that. Tonight is the night. The night I shall confront “the house of eyes”
It’s time now, to find out for myself if those disgusting incidents are true. My mind is hungry for the truth ever since and tonight will be the night to put my mind at rest. I walked slowly towards the rotten gates while taking a last deep breath. I squeezed through the gate; then the fingers like ivy were grabbing my leg, as if it was a warning. My legs began to tremble with fear the closer I got to the wrecked flaky door. Placed my hand on the ice-cold door handle. I swallowed anxiously, slightly turned my head delicately in the direction of the ragged gates; and took a long look of what could be my last. My fate was just a moment away, not knowing what’s next. A dead rotten body of those who attempt to find the truth, or even the living dead itself?
My hand was so nervous I wasn’t able to turn the rusted door handle, but eventually I got to be calm with myself and swept the sweat of my face, carefully opening the old door while slightly gazing out the edge. Feeling the dark surroundings after closing the door behind me while sweeping away the paint off my clothes. Such a disgusting environment in a wet humid place; seeing blood which was shaped like hands on the walls and floors that grabbed to my attention, then watching the detailed wall paper peel off bit by bit like the layers of someone’s dead dry skin. Instantly the horrid stench got to me as ended up retching. I quickly wrapped half of my face with my coat by my hand, as well as I clenched onto the bright torch in the other, knowing it was the only protection from what could be the unexpected.
“H-hello? Is anyone th-there?” I stuttered in a cowardly voice, while standing still listening to the echoes travel around the moldy house. I strolled across the uneven floorboards through the narrow hallway, the living room was the first room that caught my eye, and I looked at the picture on a piece of newspaper I cut before coming here. This is where the cruel husband sliced open his wife’s eyes with a large sharp scalpel. And you may ask why?

Thirty years ago, a family of three used to live in this house. Such peaceful once appear in this place, but one particular person changed that…
The husband was a doctor; a hard-working person; whose job took over his life style, he wasn’t able to spend time with his wife and baby. But his beautiful wife; a woman with elegance betrayed her husband because of the lack of chemistry between her and her husband. He was distraught about the news of his wife. One night, he planned to leave work early to see whether the rumor was true or not. As soon as his car pulled up on the pavement, he saw an unusual car he had not recognized took over his parking space. His heart pounded faster, filled with anger and despair. He rushed over to the door; opening it cautiously. He looked down at the floor near the door, noticed an unfamiliar pair of brown shoes. He knew something was not right but hope still lay in his heart.
The doctor turned his head up with his eyes wide open in a hasty manner, while looking down the hallway hearing a sudden giggle coming from the living room. However, it didn’t seem to be the giggle you hear from an infant...
He barged through the door with fury in the living room, as he saw his wife and another man are cuddling on the sofa “Mary!” he shouted. The wife and stranger were frightened by the husband’s entrance. She pushed the stranger away as far as she can on the sofa, pretending to act innocent. The doctor’s face grew with more rage and disappointment by the acts of lies from his wife. He couldn’t believe his eyes. His heart sank so low it felt as if it was at the bottom of the dark cliff; but at the same time his mind was about to explode like a volcano. To him, cheating is an action that is not acceptable at all. His mixed emotions got the better of him. “You are such a whore, I can’t believe you did this to me.” He scolded. “I’m sorry, beca…” the wife haven’t finish her sentence the husband cut in “Shut it, I don’t want to hear your excuse!.” He said it agitatedly.
Pulled out a scalpel from his front pocket and grab the wife’s neck tightly in the other hand. Pulling it close to his face; looking deeply into her eyes with wrath while her eyes showed mercy. “Your filthy eyes led to this.” He said in a quite toned voice towards her. “Ahh!” the wife screamed with pain. In a few seconds, he sliced her face; right through her eyes like lightening. Blood spat across the walls and all over the doctor’s clothes as well as the wife. She screamed with suffer, falling onto her knees having her hands upon her face; carrying blood in the palm of her hands in front of the husband. Moments later, colored lights flashed through the window, realized it was the police. The husband forgot about the stranger, who must have called them while hidden behind the sofa during the horrific incident.

The front door opened with a small amount of armed police officers who took the doctor away. With the help of the witness and the evidence left behind, the doctor was sentenced to death. A man, who saved the lives of others, yet ended his own, because of his outrage.
However, the answer I am mainly looking for is what happened to the daughter of the family? Did another family adopt her? Or did no one realized she was in need of help too? No one knows.

Just recapping the incident in my head, made my body tremble. But I can’t stop now and let my fear become a barrier to my goal. I didn’t come here to return empty handed. Not tonight, not now. I must continue to finish what I have started. My mind was very curious to one certain room, the daughter’s room. There I stood in front of the stairway, with the moonlight glowing at the top of the wooden stairs. The old wooden stairs was covered in dust like a silver blanket. It appears no one has walked upon those ragged stairs by the look of the dust evenly scattered. Did they choose to save themself or was it fate that I got here first? I wanted to be different and take a step further.
My cold hand holds firmly onto the brittle old-fashioned handrail; the stairs were unstable creating loud creeks ever now and then. This made my body tense even more; my stomach churned in an unpleasant way, like being at the top of a roller coaster ride. While steadily walking up the unstable stairs, I prayed to god hoping to see my tomorrow. Once I reached to the top, breathing deeply attempting to wind down my nervous. All of a sudden, I heard a gentle crying sound coming from a room.
“It must be her.”, as I whispered to myself. I quietly walked in the direction of her room with a drawing of her family on her bedroom door saying “A Happy Family.” But it had been ripped in half by some sort of knife. Gently touching the engraved marks on the door as my hands shivered with terror, yet felt sympathetic because of her lose. I felt terrified to see what’s on the other side, I felt so afraid I could hear the pulse of my heart beating faster by the second. I softly pushed the door open; feeling a light blowing of air through the broken window, hearing the torn curtains wave by the gentle wind. The little girl, sat up in the dark corner with her bent back towards me. She seems harmless at all, harmless as a rabbit but I might be mistaken…
I looked around the room noticing pieces of torn dolls, wrecked crayons, and pieces of paper from the wallpaper; so lifeless, along with a disgusting and dirty small jigsaw puzzle placed on the floor. However, what bothers me the most is the stinky smell, which brings to my attention. I swallowed anxiously yet again. Before I had the chance to talk, she said, “I knew you were coming today.” in a sudden toned voice. “O-oh right.” I stuttered, “If I told you, you would have to die.” said the girl.
I paused, as of being speechless and filled with confusion. “The stories you may have heard aren’t what they always seem to be. I’m not the kind of child you see in the outside world. But a child locked away from society. I hated my parents; they said I was ‘different’ and ‘strange’. They treated me like rubbish, lowest of the low. My father attempted to drown me in the past. My mother tried to suffocate me in my sleep so often too. I just couldn’t bear it anymore! My parents’ love was all lies, filthy lies! One night I saw mother with another man while dad was working. I knew it’s time for my revenge. I found the number for my father’s work place and left a message. Without a doubt, my father’s rage will finish the rest. After that, I learned to live by myself.”
“But how could you survive? It’s been thir…” I stopped, and realized, it happened thirty years ago. It can’t be. She is just a little girl. “I’m hungry…” the girl said as she turned her head around with her long greasy brown hair over her face. Oh no, I thought to myself; slowly backing away from the room. A big gust of wind blew her hair out of the way. I gasped the moment I saw her, my heart stopped for a second. I let the torch slipped out of my hand without knowing. The horrific appearance of her face nearly made me faint.
My eyes were fixed upon her huge white eyes with her sharp teeth; holding part of an arm in the palm of her hand dripping with blood. Her mouth dripped blood on the floor, while she began crawling towards me in a crooked, stiff way. “You can’t run forever” she cackled loudly. Her laugh echoed louder and louder around the house. I ran down the stairs; the cackle got through my head and lost my concentration, which made me fall down the stairs in pain; I just couldn’t get back on my feet. The darkness began to cave in on me tightly, the light of the moon faded away from me as I tried to reach for the light.
“Ahh!” as I shouted, sitting up on my bed; breathing heavily with sweat on my face. “Oh right, I’m glad it was just a dream.” while sweeping the sweat off my head, taking another deep breath. But I was wrong. The girl came out from nowhere and held my throat from behind. She whispered in my ear lightly “I’m not alone anymore.” In seconds she slit my throat; blood flowed all over me. My chest feels tighter and tighter; next, my vision begins to blur into the darkness as if I’m drowning in the deep ocean.
I guess it really is the night to put my mind at rest.

...Introducing the “Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens” (by Sean Covey) Habit 1 – Take responsibility for your life (Be Proactive) Defective Habit: Be Reactive Blame all of your problems on your parents, your stupid teachers, your lousy neighborhood, your boy-or girlfriend, the government, or something or somebody else. Be a victim. Take no responsibility for your life. Act like an animal. If someone yells at you, yell back. If you feel like doing something you know is wrong, just do it. ( in the book the Covey talks about humans having self-awareness, a conscience, an imagination whereas animals do not – there is a nice example comparing a dog’s thoughts to a human’s thoughts) Effective Habit: Be Proactive I am the force. I am the captain of my life. I can choose my attitude. I am responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver’s seat of my destiny, not just a passenger. Scene One: You overhear your best friend bad-mouthing you in front of a group. She doesn’t know you overheard the conversation. Just five minutes ago, this same friend was sweet-talking you to your face. Reactive Choices 1. Tell her off and then smack her. 2. Go into a deep depression because you feel so bad about what she said. 3. Decide that she is a two-faced liar and give her the silent treatment for 2 months. 4. Spread vicious rumors about her. After all, she did it to you. Proactive Choices 1. Confront her and calmly share...

...Coco Q: How does the character of Jack help bringing out the comical aspect of the other characters (Algernon, Lady Bracknell and Gwendolen) in act 1? Jack, as the central character of the play, plays an important role of comic-bringer. His characteristics, quotes, even his deceptions all entertain the readers, and helps the readers to explore the comical aspects of other characters as going through Act 1 deeper and further. At the very beginning of Act 1, Jack starts to bring out the comical aspects of Algernon as he visits Algernon’s house and tells him that he’s going to propose to Gwendolen. As Jack said “I have come up to town expressly to propose to her.”, Algy denies his opinion with a scornful and playful tone “I thought you had come up for pleasure? I call that business.” “I really don’t see anything romantic in proposing… If I get married, I’ll certainly try to forget the fact.” Algernon’s opinion towards marriage is desperate and absurd. However, Jack’s viewing on the opposite, and revealingly complaining “How utterly unromantic you are!” These two young men’s different view on marriage creates strong sense of humor, their arguments towards marriage also bring their comical aspects to the audience. Another comical aspect of Alernon is when he’s eating the cucumber sandwiches, which were prepared for Lady bracknell, he stopped Jack from taking one of the sandwiches, and suggested him to take some bread and butter. When Jack was puzzled, and asked for the reason,...

...Tutorial 2 Question: As a newly-appointed Project Manager of a research team, you believe that you will be able to manage the project virtually from your office in London, even though the other six members are located in Munich. This will solve your personal dilemma as your family does not want to be relocated. The project has a six-month deadline. What factors should you consider in order to make this virtual assignment effective? Answer: First of all, virtual assignments is where the employees and managers are located in different areas as in this case, the Project Manager’s office is in London whereas the other six team members are in Munich. Thus, the Project Manager has to rely heavily on communication technologies such as telephone, email or video conference. In my opinion, the factors that has to be taken into consideration include effective use of technology, invest time in building relationships and trust, provide specific intercultural training and arrange face-to-face meeting occasionally. To bring a success to virtual assignments, I will need to be aware of the full range of technology tools available to us and become practices and proficient in their use. Without familiarizing the technology, it is difficult for managers to keep in touch with the team and it might end up slowing down the team performance. For instance, it will be a waste of time discovering the function of Skype tools during the virtual meeting. Besides that, as a newly-appointed Project...

...Alexis Brown Mrs. Persichetti Chemistry 02 May 2011 Global Warming The Earth is warming and human activity is the primary cause. Climate disruptions put our food and water supply at risk, endanger our health, jeopardize our national security, and threaten other basic human needs. Impacts such as: record high temperatures, melting glaciers, and severe flooding and droughts, are becoming increasingly common around the world. In the movie, An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore discusses his efforts to make the issue of global warming a recognized problem worldwide. Al Gore, former U.S. Vice President, clearly states the current issues with the planet and explains if no changes are made soon, it will lead to disaster. In the beginning of Al Gore’s presentation, he displays one of the first pictures of earth from space; the moonlight provided enough light to be able to see a crisp and distinct picture of earth’s spherical shape. Topics such as: Infrared radiation, high temperatures and Carbon Dioxide remained the key points throughout the documentary. Infrared radiation, above average temperatures, and Carbon Dioxide are all causes or effects of global warming. Not only is infrared radiation harmful to the earth, but it can be beneficial as well. The same infrared radiation that destroys the beautiful ice caps in the artic is also responsible for keeping the earth's temperature relatively constant over time. The amount of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) intake has literally topped the charts....

3. law firms in the city of Megalopolis 4. real estate firms --Adams Realty and Fitch Realty 论断:找Adams卖房快,房价好。

...My portfolio in elementary algebra Submitted By: Valenzuela city science high school Submitted to: Mr.timothy a. acana Linear equations in two variables Forms for 2D linear equations Linear equations can be rewritten using the laws of elementary algebra into several different forms. These equations are often referred to as the "equations of the straight line." In what follows, x, y, t, and θ are variables; other letters represent constants (fixed numbers). General form where A and B are not both equal to zero. The equation is usually written so that A ≥ 0, by convention. The graph of the equation is a straight line, and every straight line can be represented by an equation in the above form. If A is nonzero, then the x-intercept, that is, the x-coordinate of the point where the graph crosses the x-axis (where, y is zero), is −C/A. If B is nonzero, then the y-intercept, that is the y-coordinate of the point where the graph crosses the y-axis (where x is zero), is −C/B, and the slope of the line is −A/B. Standard form where A and B are not both equal to zero, A, B, and C are coprime integers, and A is nonnegative (if zero, B must be positive). The standard form can be converted to the general form, but not always to all the other forms if A or B is zero. It is worth noting that, while the term occurs frequently in school-level US algebra textbooks, most lines cannot be described by such equations. For instance, the line x + y = √2 cannot be described by a linear...
