Laundry Soap
Introduction
The laundry soap and soap industry has over six hundred and fifty companies. Dial, Palmolive-Colgate, and Proctor and Gamble are just a few major companies that are included in the top fifty major companies. This list of major companies make about twenty-seven billion dollars a year, or about ninety percent of the total revenue.
Market Force 1: Economic Environment While the economy is slowly trying to pick itself back up, we are still in a recession. There are still a ton of unemployed people, people losing their jobs or being laid off, etc. Because of our recession, any company that manufactures laundry soap has to continuously adjust and/or create new marketing strategies. The laundry detergent industry is affected as well as many other companies. If people do not have the funds to spend on any product, it may case the companies to drop their prices down. Another way the companies try to make it more affordable for consumers is to offer coupons, sales, or even rebates, whether it is a mail in rebate or an automatic rebate at the time of purchase. All of these things also help in promoting their products. A marketer can have a really difficult time if the economy is on a downward spiral. Producers of laundry detergent also face other issues as well, one of them being inflation. Inflation causes interest rates to rise. As these rates rise on a company, it causes the company to really have no choice but to raise the prices on their products.
Market Force 2: Competitive Environment

ACOBA IX – SSC RUTHERFORD CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM: RATIONALE & BACKGROUND Background of the Study Soap is now considered as a regular need for almost all of the living human population across the world, mainly as softening agent and as a product for other personal hygiene purposes, wherein some are proven to be expensive and less effective. One of its kinds is dishwashing soap which we use in washing the dishes in removing the tough stains and grease that is all over the common kitchen tools we use in our everyday lives. It is a great help to minimize the time of removing those tough stains and grease on our kitchen tools. Buying and using the wrong dishwashing soap could put your family’s safety to danger. Your food could pick up a part of the residue that the dishwashing soap left and could cause food poisoning especially because most products contain chlorine in a dry form that is highly concentrated. It could also cause you a lot of skin damages such as unexpected whitening, rashes, and dry skin problems. Putting all of these aside, the question in everyone’s mind is, “What can be a lot safer, cheaper, and more effective ingredient in making and producing dishwashing soap for every one’s daily consumption. ... They are new and the only ones on the market so the initial, basic units will be a specialty purchase for the customer and will require research. The success of many products on the market depends on how customers learn to use them and the experience that they gain then provides the basis to build brand awareness and loyalty (Lakshmanan, A., & Krishnan, H., 2011). Until the brand gets established in the market the devices, although costing under $100, may be viewed as an additional cost to the laundry products so the purchase will require involvement from the customers. The products are also designed to be used with only the top brands of appliances so will have to be built to last, be high quality and will have a somewhat limited distribution. The purchase of the refills and the option of having automatic shipments are more of a convenience because the customers will already be aware of the brand and function of the dispenser. ...washed using normal cycles in a common washer and dryer. The statement also protects the manufacturer. You can reduce your dry cleaning budget by learning how to clean your silk pajamas at the comfort of your home. Research has shown that cleaning such garments at home is easier and more affordable. Silk fabrics are usually affected by the agitation of a regular washer. Hot water has a damaging effect on silk too. With this in mind, it follows that using the minimum agitation, soap or detergent made specifically for ‘delicates' and cold water will ensure you can clean your silk nightwear yourself. The same process will keep your garments in the best condition for years. So how does one go about the cleaning process? Having some information on cleaning silk and things that damage it is the only way you can know what to avoid when cleaning silk pajamas. Garments made from silk contain natural oils that can be damaged by using regular laundry detergents. You should therefore consider using mild soaps such as detergents used to clean baby clothing. Cleaning products like chlorine bleach should never be used on silk. Starch should also be avoided. All you need to do is swish the garments around in the sink, drain the water after the swish and rinse using cold water. Gentle hand-washing is the best approach to cleaning silk pajamas and any other clothes you may have that are made from silk. Water Everywhere

...United States. C. 216.2 x 20 = 4324 gallons per day D. This amount is not at all what I expected. I’m taken back by the amount of water I both directly and indirectly use. 3. For me personally, I think there is a lot of things I can do to conserve water. The two days I spent recording my water usage really opened my eyes to a lot of different things. For example, I realized that in that two day span I used roughly 200 gallons of water just by taking showers! Due to this, I have already went and purchased a new shower faucet similar to the one discussed in class. I need to decrease the amount of time I spend in the shower and turn off the water when I’m applying soap and shampoo. Another thing I think I need to change is the amount of times I do laundry. I never realized the amount of water that goes into laundry. I can easily double and triple wear clothing and maybe even hand wash shirts and lighter clothing like that. One last thing I can do to conserve water is to get a bin for my dishes so I can use less amount of water to wash more dishes. All in all, this assignment has opened my eyes to how much excess water I waste on a daily basis. What even more troubling is that the 216.2 gallons I use per day is just ME, that doesn’t include my two roommates. I believe if I would’ve calculated how much water all three of us use in one day it would’ve easily been up in the range of 600-700 gallons PER DAY. That’s staggering considering there are 365 days in a year and at 600 gallons...

Intro

...CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION Listening to the hum of a washing machine turning a dirty load of laundry into clean clothes, it's hard to believe a washing board was once considered a modern convenience. Washing machines have come a long way since their invention and some new, high-tech versions are changing the way people do laundry. As technology invaded the world of mankind, people continued also to find alternatives to lessen the effect of using such kind of technology as a useful process of every life. The researchers find out that this electronic, heavy, place only in one position washing machine will transform into like a portable machine. This washing machine turned into a habit of exercise as if someone is making a round of a trip by using a pedal powered washing machine. The first washing machines appeared in the 1760s. These were commonly a wooden box that was filled with clothes and rotated by hand. In 1874, another invention appeared a machine that used pegs and gears to push clothes through soapy water. In 2001 Electrolux introduced Washy Talky, the washing machine that speaks to you with such memorable phrases as "drop the detergent, close the lid and relax." And now there is Pedal Power Washing Machine. Pedal power is the transfer of energy...

Sunlight Case Analysis

...Sunlight Laundry Detergent Sunlight is a brand of household soap originally produced by the British company Lever Brothers in 1884. It was the world's first packaged, branded laundry soap.[1] Designed for washing clothes and general household use, the success of the product led to the name for the company's village for its workers, Port Sunlight. The soap formula was invented by a Bolton chemist named William Hough Watson, who also became an early business partner. Watson's process created a new soap, using glycerin and vegetable oils such as palm oil rather than tallow (animal fats). William Lever and his brother James Darcy Lever invested in Watson's soap invention and its initial success came from offering bars of cut, wrapped, and branded soap in his father's grocery shop. Sunlight laundry detergent is considering several alternatives, and must carefully consider the pros and cons associated with each approach, as well as the economic impact on company's sales and the effect of increased consumer awareness of environmental issues. This may be used to introduce positioning decisions. Following are the major points of importance- * Profit pressures had led to cost savings in Sunlight’s formula, with a consumer–noticeable decline in performance. Meanwhile, Tide continued with year after year of product innovations, heavily supported with aggressive and consistent problem/solution advertising. By December 97, Tide had a significant advantage over Sunlight on all key attributes...
