Complete the Discrimination Scenario Simulation involving a discrimination issue at the workplace and associated legal issues. Then write an essay paper discussing the following scenarios:
Discrimination Scenarios
You have no more than 1,500 words to provide substantive answers to the following questions:
1) A black firefighter alleges that each time he is transferred from one fire station to another, he must take his bed with him, on orders of the fire chief. The chief defends on the basis that it is a legitimate decision, because white firefighters would not want to sleep in the same bed in which a black firefighter slept. Is this illegal under Title VII? Explain your answer. (This was a real case from Georgia).
2) An Employer had only one promotion to give, but he was torn between giving it to the single female and the male employee, who had a family. The employer thought the male employee most needed the job and could best use the money. He finally decided to give the promotion to the male and told the female he gave it to the male because he was a "family man and needed the money." If the female employee sues, will she win? (This is also a real case.)
3) A female employee has an operation on her breast and when she returns to work, a male employee "jokingly" asks to see the scar. Is this actionable sexual harassment? (This is also a real case).

Analysis needs to be done organizationally to determine what training is needed by employees to accomplish the strategic goals of the company. The next analysis is done on the demographics of the workers. This analysis will ask the question, are there any groups of employees that need specialized training to help them meet the goals. The next analysis should be done on the operation. This aspect will help assess what job specific requirements the employees need to be trained on. The final analysis is done on the individual level and will assess how each individual performs their job and what specific training may be necessary to help them do the job better (Casio, 2005). Organizationally, the strategic goal for InterClean is to become a global leader in providing products and solutions for all their customer’s sanitation needs. It is one of the few courses that explicitly covers empirical methods, i.e., the analysis of observed economic behavior in the form of data. Empirics stand in contrast to theory, e.g., micro and macro, about how agents behave. Despite this under-representation, empirical analysis comprises a large part of economists’ workload and is one of the most practical skills that an economics student can learn. Course Objectives In this class students will: 1. perform statistical and practical inference based on the results of empirical analysis, 2. identify useful characteristics of estimators, e.g., unbiasedness, consistency, efficiency, 3. state predictions of theoretical economic models in terms of testable hypotheses, 4. model economic relationships using classical methods, such as Ordinary Least Squares, derive the properties of estimators related to these methods, and 5. perform estimation using methods discussed in class using software, 6. perform diagnostic tests that infer whether a model’s assumptions are invalid, 7. evaluate empirical models based on whether their resulting estimators...
