A leadership quiz can assist those that are in leadership and management positions to understand their personal leadership traits. In this lesson, we are to complete the MindTools leadership quiz and analyze the findings. I am going to discuss my agreements and disagreements with the findings and explain if I can improve my leadership abilities using the resources that were recommended by the quiz. The leadership quiz consisted of eighteen questions with a range of not at all, rarely, sometimes, often and very often. The score interpretation range from 18-34 (Need to improve leadership skills), 35-52 (Doing OK as a leader but have the potential to perform better) and 53-90 (On the right track …show more content…
Self-Confidence – 10 out of 10, I consider myself to be a very confidence person within my daily work group. Although I scored an overall of 76, I have to disagree with the 10 out of 10 for self-confidence. I would probably give myself an 8 out of 10. There are times when I am not extremely confident while in meetings with upper management. In order for me to improve my self-confidence within the upper management group, I have to learn how to prepare myself for this journey, understand my strengths and learn how to manage my mind. Emotional Intelligence – 8 out of 10, I agree with this individual characteristic. I believe that I possess the skill-set to recognize the feelings of those that I lead. There was a time when my co-worker was not producing her normal amount of work and she wasn’t her usual happy self. I asked her if she was ok and if there was anything that I can help her with to get her production numbers back up. She explained to me that her sister was sick and wasn’t doing well. My co-worker thanked me for recognizing that something was wrong instead of simply pressuring her to increase her production. Mindtools suggest that leaders can develop empathy as it is essential for improving emotional intelligence. Developing empathy consist of listening and then opening up myself. (Krznaric, 2012)

3. Being a good role model – 9 out of 10, this is a good score for me. I believe that leaders should be good role models and lead by example. Mindtools suggest that I continue to develop expert power. In order for me to continue to my expert power growth then I would have to take on the challenge of keeping myself current and relevant within my current organization.
