Which components we need to connect wirelessly to
Arduino and pc.

2 xbee
1 xbee Adapter
1 Arduino
1 USB cable
XCTU software
Voltage Regulator 5V

Xbee :We can choose the Xbee according our need. There are various range of Xbee available in the market. For our initial project we choose XBee 1mW Wire
Antenna - Series 1 (802.15.4) .

Specification of this xbee :0This is the very popular 2.4GHz XBee module from Digi. These modules take the
802.15.4 stack (the basis for Zigbee) and wrap it into a simple to use serial command set. These modules allow a very reliable and simple communication between microcontrollers, computers, systems, really anything with a serial port!
Point to point and multi-point networks are supported.

3.3V @ 50mA
250kbps Max data rate
1mW output (+0dBm)
300ft (100m) range
Wire antenna
Fully FCC certified

6 10-bit ADC input pins
8 digital IO pins
128-bit encryption
Local or over-air configuration
AT or API command set

The LilyPad XBee is a breakout board for the popular XBee modules that can be sewn into your e-textile projects to provide them with a little “connectivity.” This board includes easy-to-sew tabs and all the necessary power regulation to run on the LilyPad system. Once sewn into your project just attach your favorite XBee to the pre-soldered headers and you are good to go!
LilyPad is a wearable e-textile technology developed by Leah Buechley and cooperatively designed by Leah and SparkFun. Each LilyPad was creatively designed to have large connecting pads to allow them to be sewn into clothing.
Various input, output, power, and sensor boards are available. They’re even washable! Dimensions:

50mm outer diameter
Thin 0.8mm PCB

Lilypad Xbee break out board :

Break out board with Xbee :-

Pin Diagram of Break out board :-

Xbee Adapter :

It can act as a breakout board, but it also has....
Onboard 3.3V regulator to cleanly power your XBee, up to 250mA
Level shifting circuitry means that its trivial to connect it to 5V circuitry such as an Arduino without risk of damage
Two LEDs, one for activity (RSSI), the other for power (Associate)
10-pin 2mm sockets included to protect the modem and allow easy swapping, upgrading or recycling
All the commonly used pins are brought out along the edge, making it easy to breadboard or wire up
Specifically created for use with an FTDI cable to connect to a computer via
USB. This means that you can use, configure or upgrade the adapter painlessly simply by plugging in a cable:

Perfect for wirelessly communicating with a microcontroller project.

Pinout of Adapter :The DTR, RTS, RESET and RX pins (going into the XBee) pass through a level converter chip that brings the levels to 3.3V. You can use pretty much anywhere between 2.7 to 5.5V data to communicate with the XBee. The breakout pins on the bottom of the board are not level shifted and you should try to keep data going directly into the XBee pins under 3.3V

Voltage Regulator 5V :This is the basic L7805 voltage regulator, a three-terminal positive regulator with a
5V fixed output voltage. This fixed regulator provides a local regulation, internal current limiting, thermal shut-down control, and safe area protection for your project. Each one of these voltage regulators can output a max current of 1.5A.

FTDI Serial TTL-232 USB Cable :

Just about all electronics use TTL serial for debugging, bootloading, programming, serial output, etc. But it's rare for a computer to have a serial port anymore. This is a USB to TTL serial cable, with a FTDI FT232RL usb/serial chip embedded in the head. It has a 6-pin socket at the end with
5V power and ground, as well as RX, TX, RTS and CTS at 3V logic levels.
These are perfect for use with a Boarduino, Meggy's, or other Arduino clones and derivatives, and Fuzeboxen. Useful whenever you want to communicate with a TTL serial device, such as anXBee.

The version we have is the 3.3V. The data signals are at 3V and the power line provides 5V. We suggest this for any product that needs FTDI cables.

Because the cable is 5V-logic compliant, you can use it with 3v or 5v logic just fine - no level shifting required!.

If you have a device that is running at 5V logic and requires 5V power, this cable will work fine. If you want to tweak the voltages and signals a little, you should also check out the FTDI friend

This cable is fully compatible with the TTL-232 cable from FTDI. You can download the drivers and the diagram / spec sheet which has mechanical cable details. For more details about the FT232RL itself, check out that datasheet here.

Now how to communicate with two xbee in which one connect with arduino and other with pc/laptop.
Xbees are powerfull, low energy consumers and low price. They can work with or without an arduino, but our project focuses on wireless communication with arduinos. There are many different kinds to fit your varying needs.
They are capable of having a unique “network” so that they only talk to Xbees within the network you create; this avoids confusion. Give each Xbee a unique
“name” in order to keep it organized (see below). Since we are doing a peer-topeer connection, we only need a “network name” and Xbee “name”.
So we have 2 Xbees – 1 sends data from the arduino and the other receives data.
The Xbee jargon:
ATID = Network
ATMY = Xbee Name
ATDH = Destination Address High
ATDL = Who Talks to Who
ATBD = Speed to Talk
For Example :Xbee setup
ATMY (Xbee
Name)

XBEE 1
2345

XBEE 2
6789

ATDL (Who
6789
Talks to Who)

2345

ATDH

Next, download the latest Xbee firmware. The latest version is found under the
Modem configuration tab.
Plug in your Xbee.

On the XCTU software under the PC setting tab, click “Test / Query”
A message, similar to the graphic, indicating connection will pop up:

It will also show the firmware version. If you already have 10EC or higher, you may not need to make an update.

If you need an upgrade, go to the Modem Configuration Tab.
Click on “Read” button.

The Xbee info will show in the window like this:

Add a check mark on “Always Update Firmware”. REMEMBER TO REMOVE THE
CHECK MARK AFTER THE UPGRADE PROCESS IS DONE.

Click on “Write” and let the update run.
When the update is finished, remove the check mark from “Always Update
Firmware” and click on “Read”.

Follow the same update proces for the other Xbee.
NOW IT’S TIME TO SET UP THE XBEES.
Remember the table that has the ATMY, ATDL, ETC. ETC.? We are going to copy those numbers in the Xbee configuration.
So let’s configure Xbee 1, which you already have connected.
Add the values of Xbee 1 in to their respective area:

When you have finished, DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHECK THIS. Then, for good measure, check again.
Click on “Write” and these values will be sent to the Xbee.

After the write process is finished, click on “Read” and your values will now show in the window. They should match the numbers you entered.

THAT’S IT – you have just configured an Xbee module!
Repeat this process for the second Xbee, making sure that you add different values. That is why I suggest writting the numbers on paper so you don’t accidentally duplicate.

OPTIONAL but not required: If you need to change the baud rates speed of your
Xbee. do it under the Serial Interfacing (BD):

The phenomological community is represented in the fact that the community members are all considered to be in elementary school. The community is made up of children with and without special needs and learning disabilities. These children live in the geopolitical area of Bell Road to the 101 Freeway, and between 19th Avenue and 25th Avenue. This area is the pre-determined area set forth by the county to represent the appropriate amount of households for the school size. The community expands and shrinks as students move into or out of this plotted area. They represent people who are mostly Caucasian and Hispanic, but there is a blend of Slavic and Middle Eastern community members. Many of the community members live in apartments or other grouped housing, and has the ability to interact outside of school as well. Assumptions The main assumptions of the community include that some of the children will be poorly educated because of the community in which it resides.
