The difference between highschool and college life is the incredible increase in free time. In high school, every day was a constant grind and I neverhad any free time. In college I have a surplus. Instead of classes six hours a day, they take up a mere three hours. I'm no longer forced to sit in the same building all day. This newfound time provides many luxuries that can easily be abused. I can be productive or goof off.

Time management is the most difficult or stressful about college life. There were many times this semester when I had to write a paper and heard my friends were going to a party. That always happened on days that I'd had time to get work done but had wasted it instead. Then I couldn't go out.

My biggest fear was how to adjust to this new freedom. I knew living on my own meant my parents were not going to be breathing down my neck to do my work. They were not going to have me home at a certain hour. I was in complete control. These two aspects of being on my own were very exciting but I wondered how I would do without myparents holding my hand. Once things got rolling I realized I would beall right as long as I stayed motivated.

The best advice I could offer future freshman to make the adjustment process easier is to stay on top of things. Don't get so caught up in the social atmosphere of college that you get behind in your studies. Remember what you're there for. There is nothing worse than approaching the end of a semester and realizing you have procrastinated so much you have an impossible mountain of work. No one needs that added

In class, we read Kathleen Porter’s article, “The Value of a Higher Education” where she states no matter how much college is worth, in the end its worth going the extra mile, even for the people that can’t afford it. Never say never because dreams are always worth chasing for. In the other hand Linda Lee in “The Case Against College” she objects a strong belief towards a college degree. She argues that a college degree or higher education isn’t right for everyone and that there are other possibilities to be successful in life. Students should strongly agree with Porter’s position. Gap Year: Good/Bad

...Good or Bad? Not every student graduating from high school wants to go to college. Some decide to directly enrol into college or university, while the others opt for a gap of a year prior to enrolling in higher education. The time period between high school graduation and arrival at college can be the result of several factors, including deferred admission at a student's college of choice or purposely taking a gap year to prepare for the next step of formal education. The argument arises when the students prefer taking gap to explore the world & to find some field they are interested in and when the parents worry about their children getting off track regarding higher education. Traditionally gap years are seen as time out to travel between school and university, to learn life experiences and broaden horizons. It is not unusual for a student to hesitate to pack bags before heading off to college right away. They might want to take a year off before going to college. Taking a gap year is also linked to higher motivation in college. While many students take a year off to earn money for tuition, programs involving international travel or service work are more common among affluent students or those from competitive high schools, where pressure to get good grades and gain admission to a leading college is most intense. Burnout from the competitive pressure of high school and a desire "to find out more about themselves," are the top two reasons students take gap years. Many competitive...
