A CASE ANALYSIS PRESENTED TO THE FACULTY OF THE COLLEGE OF CRIMINOLOGYOF LEYTE COLLEGES

In PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS IN PRACTICUM 1 AND 2 For THE DeGREe OF BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN CRIMINOLOGY

I. CASE INTRODUCTION: A. Brief History: One of the most common abuse resources is our maritime environment and some other crimes transpired from this site. The plan of eliminating and minimizing the abuses of our resources in our maritime environment had been constituted in our constitution mandating the creation of one national Police Force which is civilian in character. The passing of law of RA 6975 on December 13, 1990 merge and reorganization the integrated national police and the PC or Philippine Constabulary into the encompassing Philippine national police (PNP) which was activated on January 29,1991. Consequently, NHQ PNP General Order no. 58 created the maritime police command on January 16, 1991 to be one of its National Support Units. The newly created unit was then a conglomeration of several personnel from the services of the AFP and the INP. During the integration, naval officers signified their intentions to join the PNP. Likewise, organic members of the Philippine marine Corps and the Philippine Coastguard also join the maritime Command. The advent of RA 6975deactivated the Philippine constabulary in l990 and subsequently COSAC (Constabulary Off-Shore Anti-Crime Rebellion)colors were encased. This made the effective dissolution of all constabulary units in the country. Conceptually, Police traces it’s roots to the COSAC but not as to its direct lineage. it may be considered that the Maritime is a unique and district. The PNP MARITIME GROUP is unit of the Philippine National Police. On September 12, 1996, unique and distinct support unit of the Philippine National Police.. On September 12, 1996, NAPOLCOM Resolution no. 96058 renamed the “ Maritime Command “ to “Maritime Group” and the “Maritime Districts” to “ Regional maritime Office” or RMOs.

B. Background of the case; Supervisor or Training officers have two powerful ways of improving the performance and productivity of their on-the-job trainees assigned in their office, which are counseling and on the job training.
Counseling is the process of helping a subordinate define and resolve personal problem that effect performance or in order to develop a good attitude to work.
On the job training is the process of explaining, demonstrating and the structured supervision of specific skills or particular tasks. It is similar to the teaching process. On the job training is often referred to as OJT. These are highly effective in three situations, which are: 1. Resolving trainee’s problems: All supervisors and head of office are faced with problem of trainees from time to time. Counseling and training are always the first considerations in these cases but they do not always result in success and sometimes more radical action is required. .
Maintaining training group standards-The management of people both as individuals and groups is a dynamic process as nothing remains static –problems are always arising. A good manager must be aware of this and be constantly ready to use counseling and training to maintain standards.
To achieve continuous improvement: The best way to avoid problems is to keep ahead of them by being proactive. You must have a plan for each individual in your group and for the group as a whole. In particular new and inexperienced group members need special treatment so that they can meet required levels of performance. Counseling and training share many of the same skills and in many cases they are used together to achieve your results.

II. CASE STATEMENT OBJECTIVES(S):
The case study analysis, A case study analysis On the training deficiency and orientation resulting to behavioral predicament among the criminology interns assigned at PNP MARITIME GROUP, Tacloban city, has the following objectives:

A. General Objective: The primary objective of this case study analysis is to be able to envision the behavior predicament due to the deficiency of training and orientation of the criminology interns assigned at PNP Maritime Group, Tacloban City. B. Specific Objectives: 1. To be able to evaluate the job performance of the criminology on-the-job trainees ; 2. To be able to create a plan or scheme in the training and orientation of the criminology interns so as to change their behavior with regards to the expected output;

3. To be able let the criminology interns experience more skills training and be motivated to do the assigned tasks with enthusiasm and industry;

III. CASE STATEMENT(S) OF THE PROBLEM:

A. General Problem:
What behavioral manifestations does the criminology interns in performing their tasks presents, claiming of insufficient training and orientation?

B. Specific Problems:

1. What are the underlying factors that are influential in their claim that they have less training and orientation in tasks?

2. What are the remedies that they have to adapt, so as to do their tasks efficiently?

3. How will the criminology interns assure themselves that if they have enough training and orientation, they will perform their task effectively and efficiently?
