-----------------------
To show adoration to God is to worship, praise, honor and exalt Him. In other words, respect Him, be in awe of Him, and say wonderful things about Him.

When we begin to acknowledge how great, perfect and awesome our God is, we can’t help but recognize our weaknesses and sins. Admitting and confessing our sins, and knowing He has forgiven our past, present and future sins is vital to our prayer life.

Giving thanks expresses our faith, and it is faith that pleases God. We don’t necessarily give thanks for the circumstances, but give thanks for His total provision during good and painful

Matthew 6:9-13

...Prayer Matthew 6: 9-13 Passage Matthew 6: 9-13 9Pray then like this: Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name. 10Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us this day our daily bread; 12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us into temptation, But deliver us from evil Introduction Matthew 6:9-13 is commonly referred as the “Lord’s Prayer”. In this paragraph, Jesus presented a pattern of prayer to the disciples, thus suggesting the manner in which God should be addressed and the petition we are entitled to present to Him. What is it about this paper that intrigues so many people to dig into the meaning of it? It is interesting to see from the verses above that Jesus’ prayer puts God in the first place. The first half of the prayer focuses exclusively on God and His agenda as believers adore, worship, and submit to His will before they introduce their own personal petitions. The second half of the prayer focuses on how should disciple invite God to their daily life and live upon God’s continuous spiritual provision. Even with the second half where their wills are introduced, God still takes dominant position in the relationship. The discipleship of the followers thus is being presented through day-to-day prayers. Socio-Historical Background To fully understand the meaning of the text, the first thing to do is to step back to examine the society where the text was written, back...

The Lords Prayer

...The Lord Prayer The Bible verse that I have chosen for my Exegesis paper is Matthew 6:9-13. This verse states: (KJV) 9 After this manner therefore pray ye; Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us our day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and glory, forever. Amen I have include an excerpt from my thematic paper in reference to the author of this verse. I find that it is important and is relating to the structure of the Gospel and the verse. Matthew: Many sources have the Gospel of Matthew being written in Hebrew and its intended audience were the Jews. Many people say “there are no Hebrew manuscripts of this text.” Upon further investigation this is true to an extent. This question first arose in the 16th Century by the Dutch Theologian and patristic scholar Desiderius Erasmus.” He concluded that there was no evidence of an Aramaic or Hebrew original of Matthews Gospel; it is ineffective to argue Matthews Gospel originally appeared in Aramatic and was translated to Greek.” Matthew’s Gospel relies heavily on the quotations and prophecies from the Old Testament, some believe that the author was a Jew who wrote his gospel for other Jews. We later learned that the Gospel was written in Greek and the Old Testament references were taken...

The Sermon on the Mount

...The sermon at the mount is a collection of teachings and sayings that Jesus preaches to people at Galilee. It takes place after Jesus had been baptized by John the Baptist. This is the longest teaching by Jesus in a single preaching. It is found in the New Testament in the book of Matthew. It transverses chapter five to seven of the Gospel of Matthew. The main theme of sermon of the mountain is how people should relate with other people and God. The sermon is preached at a mountain when Jesus saw the crowd and his disciples’ were following him, he sat at a level ground on the mountain and started to preach. The Preaching’s can be divided it four major parts; The Beatitudes, Lord’s Prayer and parables. Beatitudes The word beatitude comes from a Latin phrase “beatitudo” which means blessedness. The beatitudes are eight in number and all have similar characteristics in that they all begin with the word blessed. The beatitudes come from doing eight different things in a certain manner. Six of the beatitudes are futuristic in nature in that they say what will happen, while two of them have a present tense. The beatitudes are from Mathew chapter five from verse three to ten. The first beatitude is found in the book of Matthew chapter five verses three and it states; blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. The beatitude is futuristic since it promises a future reward. The beatitude tries to explain that the kingdom of heaven belongs to those people who...

...On Today, I will be speaking on the topic, “what the Bible says about forgiveness.” Joseph was a man called by God who would be used greatly by God causing showers of blessings to flow apon Joseph and his family. This is what his purpose in life was. However, Joseph had to face adversity, be isolated,….Joseph was the oldest son of Judah and because \forgiveness can help that yoke of bondage to break off..forgivinrdss will open up ones ear and heart to receive the word, which Is God, Forgiveness can change a persons mind, Forgiveness is important in this christian walk because that is one of manu major attributes that sets us apart from the world, yes for giveness because when someone does you wrong and others know about it they look to see how you will respond if you say you are a christian. So the best way to lets Gods light shine in our lives is continue to serve him, seek to please him and the bible says vinges is mine says the lord. Christ, the Paradigm of Leadership

...Discussions in what makes effective leaders are ones as long as history itself. It is a topic of constant study and debate where everyone seems to have a view and where definitions of leadership are as varied as their explanations. More recent day definitions and studies have focused on leadership and change, vision building and empowering others. Thus, leaders are people who are able to think and act creatively in non-routine situations – and who set out to influence the actions, beliefs and feelings of others. In this sense being a leader is personal. It flows from an individual’s qualities and actions. However, it is also often linked to some other role such as manager or expert. Here there can be a lot of confusion. Not all managers for example, are leaders; and not all leaders are managers. But what is true leadership and what model are we to follow? Who wrote the right book out of hundreds that can steer us in the right direction? The answer is in Matthew 20. There are various ways people view or even approach leadership. Many people spend hours trying to find ways to be better leaders, always trying to find that “edge”. Many books are written about possessing certain qualities or characteristics, even applying certain principles to their way of leadership. Principles are not invented by us or society; they are the laws of the universe that pertain to human relationships and human organizations.” While some of these views can be good advice, it tends to shun...

Keeping the Faith

...Sunday Service (October 7, 2012) April Jade Bonoan How to Keep the Faith and Finish and Finish the Race. The Book of Hebrews is known for Its Hall of the Fame – the list is long in chapter 11 of the book of names of people of old who because of their faith made their way into God’s honor roll of the faithful. Reading the entire chapter, it made me wonder how they kept the faith. Today we are going to study the twelfth chapter of Hebrews. First thing we have to do is I. Have a Proper Start How we start determines how we end. Before we run the race, we have to let go of certain things. A lot Christians instead of having a proper start found themselves running yet stopping in the middle of the race. And once they stopped it was so hard to regain the track. Paul encourages his readers to lay aside every weight, and the sin that so easily ensnares. To finish the race is another way of saying that we have kept the faith. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. “ – 2 Timothy 4:7 A. Dead Works - The weight that Paul was referring to here that we should lay aside, is not a sin. These are what we call the dead works. The bible says in 1 Corinthians 10:23 that all things are permissible, but not all things are beneficial. These are things that we could live better without. Just like in a race, the athletes have a choice what kind of clothing they would wear, but if they wanted to win, they must choose the light fabric. There are certain...

Pastor

...Christianity 1 In the New Testament, how does Matthew illustrate Jesus’ teachings on adultery, fasting, giving alms, praying, judging others, and false prophets? The Lord journey through Galilee “teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom (Matt. 4: 23). The Gospels of the Kingdom are the most important subject in the New Testament. The Gospel and deeds of Jesus Christ were understood in Matthew illustration. The main teaching of the Sermon is not so much the kingdom of Heaven and repentance which are presupposed, but the new piety versus the old piety of the scribes and Pharisees. The Sermon encourages the Christian to apply his own life through these principles of piety. Jesus condemns adultery in the heart. When I think of this illustration of plunking the eye is not to be taken literally; neither should the illustration in the Bible of cutting of the right hand. These illustrations in the bible suggest the uprooting of evil thoughts fro ones heart. In Christian ethics; the only legal and sacred relation between man and woman is their union in wedlock. Every other sex relation and practice is against the principles of the Gospel . As stated in Matthew 5: 27-30 the scriptures said, “Thou shalt not commit adultery. Adultery is a weakness of the people of the past and still remains as such among the people of the Christian era. In the past, customs and laws legalized adultery and fornication through polygamy. Solomon with many “wives”...

Evangelism; a Passion for Souls

...Br Jonathan Sichinsambwe Theme: Evangelism, a passion for souls Today there are about 6.8 billion people, 2 billion claim to be Christians, that leaves us with 4.8 billion that still need to hear the gospel. Out of those 4.8 billion, 2.75 billion have never heard of the name Jesus and are headed for eternity in hell. A passion for souls is probably the highest product of spiritual communion with God. It absorbs us, and even our own salvation is forgotten in that passionate yearning which made Moses ready to have his name blotted out of God’s book for Israel’s sake It seems to me that such passion is the highest form of unselfish love, and the nearest approximation to the divine motive that impelled the Lord Jesus Christ to empty himself of his original glory and majesty, and assume ‘the form of a servant,’ enduring even the cross. 2 Samuel 23:14-17 In this story we see the cry in the heart of the King. He was thirsty for a cup of water, these three servants were not sent to get the water but they noticed his desire. To them David’s wish was their command. They knew the dangers, they were aware that they would have to pay a price for that water even with their very lives. However this was not enough to make them waver in their obedience. They did not hesitate. 28 generations later the Messiah would have a similar cry on the cross (John19:28) this thirst was a cry that went beyond the physical thirst. This thirst was the salvation of men and women . This thirst goes deeper than...

Compare and Contrast of Jesus’ Three Agonizing Prayer in Gethsemane: Matthew 26:30, 36-46, Mark 14:26, 32-42, Luke 22:39-46, John 18:1.

...Compare and Contrast of Jesus’ three agonizing prayer in Gethsemane: Matthew 26:30, 36-46, Mark 14:26, 32-42, Luke 22:39-46, John 18:1. There were many differences in the way each author reported on this prayer. It was important because Jesus was praying right before He was betrayed by Judas and subsequently arrested. The only thing that all four gospels report the same was that Jesus went to Mount Olive, a usual place for Him, and prayed. Matthew, Mark, and Luke describe Jesus as being troubled and deeply saddened before He prayed. They all say that Jesus took men with Him to the garden. Matthew and Mark give names or description of the men that were with Jesus while Luke just says His disciples were with Him. Matthew calls the two men “sons of Zebedee” and Mark says they were “James and John.” He asked them to stand watch while He prayed a few feet away. Matthew, Mark, and Luke all report that His prayer was that God take away the “cup” that had been handed to Him but that Jesus was willing to submit to God’s will willingly. Jesus said this prayer three times according to Matthew and Mark. Luke adds that Jesus started His prayer by acknowledging that all things are possible with God. This book also says that an angel appeared after the first prayer to strengthen Jesus. He then prayed more earnestly, to the point that He was sweating and it was “like drops of blood hitting the ground.” Matthew and Mark also say that He found Peter, James, and John sleeping...

...my boys who often seen the abuse and so many times we tried to escape but couldn’t. I was torn inside and didn’t know how fix it. So I thought my drinking could take me away from it, away from the pain, a least for that moment. How I came to a cognitive knowledge of Who Jesus is and what He did for me. But this day I did something different, after talking to my grandmother who was very religious. She told me to pray, pray and believe the Lord for he is God almighty, and I did just that. I prayed, I prayed that God take him out of my life, but lord I don’t want him to die just to be removed. A month later he was at the wrong place at the wrong time (really right time) and was sentenced to eight years in prison. You see that sincere prayer that day changed my life, it allowed Jesus to come in and rescue me from my kids father and myself, I was totally broken and no person on earth could have fixed me. But Jesus saved me and delivered me. Circumstances surrounding your conversion. Oh, but as my faith in Jesus increased things begin to change. I was on my knees more and found a church to join, were I was taught more about Jesus. I accepted Christ and wasn’t drinking anymore or trying to run from the pain, the pain had left, Jesus cleaned me up and blessed me. I got my own apartment, job, and for once in my...
