Introduction
Lupe has mainstreamed into all subjects but seems to be struggling. She has a high rate of absenteeism and lacks the focus to finish assignments. She prefers to talk to her peers rather than to complete the work; she is expected to drop out of school and is in need of an intervention to help succeed in school. She has a positive attitude towards school and is cooperative and friendly towards others. This essay will discuss five preferral interventions that could potentially help Lupe succeed in school if implemented correctly.
Case Study Lupe’s characteristics can be best described in Tier 1. She does not act out in class, she cooperative and friendly but at the …show more content…
This will determine where the teaching with Lupe start and be appropriate for what she is able to produce. It will give clearer ideas as to what Lupe needs to work on “Researchers indicate when individuals are aware of how they learn and if teachers respond to individuals’ strengths and weaknesses, achievement and retention rates tend to improve” (Kablan, Z., & Kaya, S., 2013) . Teaching her at a level that she is not prepared for will not help at all and will only bring her self-esteem down as well as create a blockage where she will never be able to move …show more content…
Since she has a positive attitude in school and cooperates, this may mean that her high rate of absenteeism might not be a cause disliking school but rather the cause might be something happening at home. The first thing that should be done is to talk to the parents and try to figure out why she is absent so frequently. Perhaps visit the home to have a deeper understanding of how Lupe lives and what is affecting her attendance. This will not only give a deeper understanding of the situation but it will show both Lupe and her parents that the school is extremely concerned for Lupe’s wellbeing and her success as a student. After having a better understanding of what happens in Lupe’s life outside of school, the next step would be meeting with Lupe’s parents regularly to have their support, this way Lupe’s parents will be involved in Lupe’s education and learning process. (Echevarria & Graves,2015 ) Working together, the school and the parents can provide strategies to help Lupe succeed in the classroom. By having a good communication with the parents, teachers are able to modify teaching to create educational strategies to help Lupe the best way possible. Lupe will feel the support both at home and at

Postmodernism in Arrested Development

...An exploration of postmodernism through textual analysis of Arrested Development. This essay will consider the postmodernism within the television programme Arrested Development through postmodern theories, postmodernist techiniques and textual analysis. Through historical context, genre conventions, intertextuality and continuity; the essay will investigate the use of pastiche in modern satire. As popular situation comedies fulfil the generic conventions of using multiple cameras, linear narratives, stand alone catchphrases and aspirational ideologies, the essay will deliberate whether post modernism is legitimate in television comedy. "As Hollywood agents worry about the demise of the town's lowing cash cow, the multi-camera, staged sitcom, here to save the day is Arrested Development, a farce of such blazing wit and originality, that it must surely usher in a new era in comedy." —Alison Powell, The Guardian (UK), March 12, 2005 Television situation comedy has always appealed to mass market audiences. From ‘The Brady Bunch’(1969 – 1974), which centred on a blended family, perhaps the best-known domestic comedy in US television history to ‘Cheers’(1982 – 1993), the show set in a bar in Boston. Sitcoms usually consist of recurring characters in a common environment such as a home or workplace. Sitcoms provide the audience with iconic moments in television history. The longitivity of this genre of programming allows the audiences to build up relationships with the characters...
