...Running Head: HUMAN RIGHTS Human Rights Claims Have Had Little Impact In Terms Of Substantive Law, Procedure or Levels of Damages in the Field Of Health Law [Name of the Writer] [Name of the Institution] Human Rights Claims Have Had Little Impact In Terms Of Substantive Law, Procedure or Levels of Damages in the Field Of Health Law Introduction The rights to life and liberty, to freedom of expression and opinion, to participation in government and choice of employment, and to private property and general security in one's person these are just some of the rights that people around the globe have come to recognize as human rights those rights that all individuals have simply by virtue of their very humanity; rights that we expect all societies to guarantee to their citizens irrespective of a person's race, religion, gender, sexuality, or ethnicity; rights that we should have no matter where we live or who we are(Ishay 2004). Understood as universal and inalienable, human rights have come to represent a common standard, a set of international norms against which we measure the actions of governments and the practices of communities (Beitz, 2001). They have come to function as the grounds on which we challenge particular policies and actions of states and the basis upon which we demand change or imagine a different, better future (Ignatieff, 2001). With all that they do, with all that we expect from them, it is not surprising that human rights are cherished the world...

Literature Review

...Literature Review #1 Citation: Betts, Julian R., (2011), “The Economics of Tracking in Education”, in Hanushek, Eric A., Stephen Machin and Ludger Woessmann (Eds.), Handbook of the Economics Of Education, Volume 3, Amsterdam: North Holland, pp. 341-381. (found on article excerpt) Betts, Julian, Eric A. Hanushek, Stephen Machin, and Ludger Woessman. Handbook of the Economics of Education. Vol. 3. Amsterdam: North Holland, 2011. Print. (MLA citation) In Ballantine and Spade’s piece, Understanding Education through Sociological Theory, macro-level theories are discussed in detail. One theory that stands out is referred to as the labeling theory, which highlights the sense of self that youth ranging from the age of 6 to 18 develop in school. In particular, it addresses the notion of how labeling children may likely lead to self-fulfilling prophesies. For instance, if a child is labeled as less capable or more incompetent than his fellow peers, his sense of self may plummet as a result and lead to him never performing to his maximum potential at any point in his academic career. The labeling theory resonates with the idea of tracking of students in the education system. Tracking in American education typically involves grouping and labeling sets of students as low-performing, average, or high-performing. Based on several previous studies in addition to the research carried out by the authors of the paper, The Economics of Tracking in Education, it is apparent that tracking “increases...

Maintaining Fluid Balance in Dialysis Patients

...Maintaining Fluid Balance: A Health Promotion Paper Victoria Mendiola Excelsior College Health Assessment and Promotion in Nursing Practice NUR442 Dr. Deborah Mandel December 8, 2012 Maintaining Fluid Balance: A Health Promotion Paper • • . INTRODUCTION Fluid overload is a major clinical issue in patients with end stage renal failure. Oftentimes, unresolved and unaddressed fluid overload leads to congestive heart failure. Congestive heart failure is a progressive and systemic disease process that involves the interaction between the heart and kidneys. (Krishnan, 2007). Over time, worsening heart failure coupled with progressive kidney failure leads to diuretic resistance, consistent fluid volume overload and refractory heart failure. (Francis, 2006). Fluid balance is a goal for ESRD patients and should be one of the priorities for health promotion and prevention education. Fluid Overload and the Peritoneal Dialysis Client It is important to note that the client in this paper was diagnosed in 2007 for ESRD and hemodialysis treatment was initiated for this client right away. Initially, patient was getting three times a week dialysis treatments in-center. However, in the last three years, the client’s dialysis treatments were raised to four times per week to avoid fluid overload. Per client’s report, within the last year he would have 1-2 episodes of shortness of breath every three months ending in hospitalizations for congestive heart failure (CHF). In...

Collaborative Transportation Management

...Collaborative Transportation Management – An Enhancement in Supply Chain Process Maaz Abdul Suboor 023041156 ENM 603 Operations Management National University Jeffery Appel 09/28/2014 Introduction Chen (2010) reported that the recent idea in the areas of transportation, logistics and supply chain management is the concept of supply chain collaboration. The supply chain management plays a crucial role in the success of any business and due to more global competition, most business organizations are engaging in a collaborative supply chain. Inaccessibility of tracking information and improper control of transportation resources leads to ineffective and unreliable delivery that affects the supply chain of the business. The supply chain collaboration is a preliminary approach to avoid inefficiencies in the supply chain, as it integrates the trading partners or the entire supply chain. Collaborative Transportation Management Sutherland, Joel (2003) reported that a recent extension of the Supply Chain Collaboration conceptual framework is Collaborative Transportation Management (CTM). The main purpose of CTM is to minimize or eradicate inefficiencies in the transportation process for example, reduce delivery time, update inventories, provide space (3PLs), and avoid errors through collaboration of suppliers, manufacturers, and third party logistic providers (3PLs). CTM not only combines the trading partners, but also brings profit to the entire supply...

Isabella

Draupadi and Krishna's Friendship

...Drashti Shah Dr. Maaz Bin Bilal Rethinking Friendship 28 December 2015 Understanding Krishna and Panchali’s friendship and exploring this relationship through its narrative in the book ‘The Palace of Illusions’ Panchali, the beautiful and the fierce princess of Panchal, the embodiment of feminism, the bold dark-skinned woman born out of fire is the protagonist of The Palace of Illusions. It is a narrative of the greatest war of Indian mythology, Mahabharat from the perspective of Panchali. Unlike most books that view Draupadi as a kritya, a female demon which requires the sacrifice of its own clan, The Palace of Illusions humanizes Draupadi and adds volume to the character by her virtue of integrity, love and forgiveness. Criticized for having a mind of her own in an extremely staunch patriarchal society, Panchali found solace in her Sakha, Krishna. “Perhaps the reason Krishna and I got along so well was that we were both severely dark-skinned. In a society that looked down its patrician nose on anything except milk-and-almond hues, this was considered most unfortunate, especially for a girl.”(Divakaruni, p.8) Panchali and Krishna’s friendship was a rare one and beyond the norms of those times. Chitra Banerjee's beautiful portrayal of Draupadi's relationship with Krishna - a mixture of friendship, sibling love, and that of devotion. Draupadi developed a sense a kinship with Him right from her childhood. Whenever her mind wandered into wilderness or when she sought answers...
