It is important to follow the lab report format given in this document. If the format is not followed 10% of your score will be deducted.

When you finish writing this report you should have learned about Torsion Test. A quiz will be given when you turn in your lab report. You should know the following:

Clearly state objectives of the experiment. Specify what materials were used in the experiment and what specific properties you were looking for.(4points)

2. PROCEDURE and LIST OF APPARATUS

A. In this section you should write about the procedure you followed in the lab. You should mention how a torsion test is done .You do not need to write steps related to the use of the software. ( 5 points)

YOU SHOULD SPECIFY BRAND & MODEL of all the equipment used.( 2 points)

3. DATA & RESULTS

A. You should fill out the table given in the lab manual. Be careful with the units of measurement. Also keep in mind that you should specify measurements during loading and unloading. It is easier to consider the angle of twist first and then read the torque then the other way around! You should include graphs printed during the experiment. These graphs should go in the Data and Results section NOT AT THE END OF THE REPORT or ANY PLACE ELSE! If graphs printed during experiment are not included no points will be given for this section.

B. Draw shear stress vs. shear strain graph for each material. Axis should be clearly labeled and units given. Each graph should have a title. Loading and unloading for each material should be on the same graph.(30 points)

4. SAMPLE CALCULATIONS

A. In this section you should show one set of calculations for shear stress, shear strain, and shear modulus of elasticity. Be specially careful with the units for angle of twist. You should write the equations, insert the numbers, and show the result. Units should be given after each calculation. You should specify the material that you used for sample calculations and include the rest of the results in a table.( 10points)

5. DISCUSSION

Using a table compare values of shear modulus of elasticity with published values and calculate per cent of error. Discuss your results and mention possible sources of error. ( 10 points)

...Urban Development policy, Reinvestment Act, and the Federal’s low interest rate policy. These were the incentives that the government provided that ultimately caused the economic crisis of 2008. During the mid-1900s the government set up regulations to help Americans own homes and this made it possible for lenders to lend money to everyone, regardless of income. This was the American dream that people work so hard for. So when it was made possible by the government regulations, there was no stopping Americans from jumping on that wagon. The home owing process was made possible by HUD (Department of Housing and Urban Development) regulations that required lenders like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to accept loans with little or no interest down (Pozen, 2010, p. 28). The loans held by Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae went from 25% in 1990 to 45% in 2001 (Gwartney et al., 2008, pg. 481). They owe about half of the United States’ mortgage markets. Then there was the Reinvestment Act that reduced the conventional lending standards to meet the requirement for banks, as Pozen stated, “to extend loans in proportion to the share of minority populated in their market area” (p. 8).
