Marketing Plan

Introduction

This is a marketing plan Spa Connections Unlimited, a health spa on wheels that is geared toward senior’s citizens that are 55 years and older located in the Atlanta Metropolitan area. Our spa will offer a wide variety of mind and body healing services and products. Our aspect of the business will be to provide spa services for both males and females seeking any type of spa services. The spa business is devoted to providing holistic methods of massage, body work, and energy work. This is all done in a relaxing, serene setting right in the comfort of our clients own home.
Marketing Segment Aging is a natural process and brings with it benefits of wisdom and clarity we lack in earlier years. With almost 40 million people in the United States already over 65 and a large group of baby boomers rapidly approaching their senior years, spas have begun to recognize that this a category of customers have long been neglected. A day at the spa is a blissful indulgence enjoyed by young and old alike. Spa Connections Unlimited realizes that many senior will have different needs and limitations than their younger spa-goers. The art of massage is one of the oldest and simplest forms of therapy and has been used for centuries to induce benefits of well-being and improve circulation, among other benefits. Our professional therapists will adapt their expert techniques based on your specific needs to ensure you achieve the maximum benefits of massage therapy. We only hire technicians who have been trained to care for the wellbeing of our clients, and are proven leaders in the field of massage therapy.

Target Market

Spa Connections Unlimited is a professional spa on wheels that specializes in the therapy of touch for seniors. With the economic climate in the Atlanta Metropolitan area rapidly growing each year and many of the baby boomers approaching retirement and making Atlanta their home we expect our business to prosper at an excelling rate. Many seniors have worked hard all of their lives and now that they have reached retirement age, they can now take time to pamper themselves with spa treatments. We, at Spa Connections Unlimited feel that a health spa treatment does more than just offer relaxation or glowing skin. We feel that health and wellness are also beautiful, and our spa on wheels will offer a variety of treatments that promote health and wellness. The ultimate goal at Spa Connections Unlimited is to enhance the quality of life for the senior adult population by promoting healthy aging and spa treatments for everyone. While many spa treatments are soothing, they do not necessarily address issues such as, stress management or the physical effects of stress. Our focus is to enable seniors to maintain a healthy quality of life by learning to de-stress because it is an integral part of a good health spa treatment. Many, too, are beauty treatments, which make you, feel wonderful but have few health benefits beyond the surface. Spa Connections Unlimited feels that the senior population will benefit tremendously from our spa treatments.
SWOT Analysis
Spa Connections Unlimited feels that is important to conduct an analysis of the Metropolitan Atlanta market's strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats (SWOT Analysis). A SWOT Analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a project. Once we have identified these items we can better analyze the market and target areas that need improvements or make changes to our marketing plan. The following SWOT analysis gives use the key strengths and weakness within our organization and it also describes the opportunities and threats that we could potentially face with our new business.
Strengths
Substantial Brand Identity
Let’s face it, people all over the world love beauty. Hollywood is obsessed with it. Like many women in America and all over the world, we want to look our best, young or old we want to look and feel beautiful. Spa Connections Unlimited only hires technicians, who have been trained to care for the wellbeing of their clients and are among the leaders in the field of the therapy of touch. Our trained professionals have been licensed by the State of Georgia and have been auditioned carefully selected by Spa Connections Unlimited.
Weakness
Economic Downturn

We are licensed and experienced professionals and we enjoy what we do - educating, treating, and pampering our clients. However, rsearch has shown that spas are not immune to changes in supply and demand as market places evolve. Over the last five years, although the spa industry has experienced overall strong growth, some rationalization occurred before the credit crisis began and further rationalization is likely to occur as the global economy experiences further pressures (How,2009). This is likely to reduce the timeframe for rationalization in young spa markets. Spa Connections Unlimited realizes that tough economic and financial times will weaken our market but as the economy recovers we expect to slowly start to grow over time.
Opportunities
Projected Growth in the Consumer Base

Starting a new spa on wheels can be very rewarding, what can be better than entering the homes of stressed weary people who want to be re-energized and to become healthier. In general, a day spa business creates a relaxing atmosphere that can calm and rejuvenate those people who lead a hectic life. Over the past few years, health spas have made a significant shift on the part of consumers toward wellness and preventive health (as opposed to pampering) which has driven consumer needs heretofore. This includes an increased comfort level with med-spa procedures and incorporating this into prevention treatments and services. Spa Connection Unlimited will ultimately drive a more collaborative approach with the health and medical industries. Delegates at the recent Global Spa Summit reported that the preventive health segment has the largest upside for potential growth which was significantly greater than the focus on day spas, luxury spas will continue to increase their role in wellness, and hospitals will be more prone to have spa offerings in the future (How, 2010).
Threats
The Continued Economic Slump

The negative economic conditions in The United States could have a disastrous impact on Spa Connections Unlimited. As the economic slump lingers, consumer confidence remains low and Spa Connections Unlimited feels this could impact our revenues. Our leadership team has acknowledged that the downturn exposed weaknesses and vulnerabilities in our market plan. Therefore, we plan to be proactive and offer our clients discounts and referral points for sending new business to our spa. The action plan will hopefully minimize the negative effects of the current threats that we are facing.
Market Position
Spa Connections Unlimited feels that there is a need our services in the Metropolitan Atlanta area. Our spa services will provide an improved quality of life for many seniors who may not be able to afford spa treatments or physically leave their home to go out and get them. Fortunately, there are plenty of spa treatments that seniors can enjoy and afford. We have strategically positioned ourselves so that we can give the highest level of quality of service to our clients for the very lowest cost possible.

Product Branding Strategy
Our brand strategy and consistency is a critical component of our brand success. In this competitive market and the economic downturn, it is important that we identify our brand image and take steps to cement our brand in the minds of our consumers through our products and competitive pricing. Therefore, Spa Connection Unlimited we have taken steps to not only convey our image through our logo, signage and marketing materials, but through the customer experience and customer interactions. We feel that attention to detail is important in establishing a strong brand identity. With our experiential products and soft skills such as how we communicate before, during, and after our spa treatments can make a big difference. We must be consistent in order to support our overall desired brand image. We realize that we can’t be everything to everyone but we will do our best to delight our customers with excellent customer service. Word of mouth is the best form of advertisement and marketing our spa on wheels.
It is also important that we position ourselves relative to our competitors in our market. If other spas in our area are offering services that we currently do not offer, then we may have to take a more retro approach to our product branding strategy. Understanding our how our competitors are positioned and what is important to clientele, will help us to establish our position in the Atlanta Metropolitan area.
Product Line
We realize there are many Day Spas offer spa treatments to seniors but we at Spa Connection Unlimited will strive to set ourselves apart from our competition. Many spas have countless similarities, but they can also be very different. Honey Spa located in Fayetteville, Georgia offers Botanical products made from plants and plant extracts to their clients. Likewise, Spa Sydell located in Atlanta, Georgia offers marine products which draw their ingredients from the oceans and seas. There are also, skin care lines that are all natural and then there are chemical formulations. Here at Spa Connection Unlimited, will only offer the finest products; those not available in most other Day Spas. Our technicians will only use Dermalogica products; which is the number one choice of skin care professionals and consumers worldwide. Why? Because, we’re dedicated to delivering skin health results through education, innovation, and professional recommendation, not through advertising, frilly packaging, promises of miracle cures, or overblown hype. Over 40 years of experience and extensive research have proven the effectiveness of these superior Spa treatments, a unique combination of hand-picked fresh ingredients which are hand-mixed with pure waters drawn from a thermal hot spring lake containing minerals and trace elements found nowhere else on earth. Our technicians are dedicating to setting ourselves apart from our completion and to give you the absolute best spa experience in the world.
Lastly, the primary purpose of our spa treatments is to assist individual spa-goers with developing healthy habits while enjoying the relaxing spa experience. Therefore, we will offer and extensive spa equipment line and high quality products for our clients to enjoy. We realize that the key to success is making our clients comfortable while they enjoy our services, therefore our state- of- the art spa equipment is vital to making our spa on wheels run smoothly. We are constantly adding new equipment to our inventory each year to extend our equipment line which makes us more competitive in the market. We will also, offer quality range of steamers, high frequency machines, suction and rotary brush apparatus, magnifying lamps, and wax warmers. With our assistance, our customers can create their own mini spa right in the comfort of their own home.
Organizational Strategy
As individual as our clients are, they seem to fall into one of three general categories: Self-Pampering/Relaxation, Alternative Care Users and the Amateur Athletes. Besides the obvious differences in the style of massage or treatments each of these prefer, they also represent separate groups for marketing and retention purposes. In addition, the booming anti-aging market is an additional momentum builder.
Clients who have the disposable income to indulge in massage and body treatments for self-pampering or relaxation are the core of our long-term repeat customers. These clients will make appointments once a week to once a month for years, and often refer other family and friends. This type of client can be difficult to find - an ad in the local alternative news weekly (especially with a coupon for $5 off) or a donation to a charity auction may result in a one-time visit, or a long-term client. Another source of usually one-time visitors is the Gift Certificate - friends pampering friends for a birthday or other special occasion. Our desired location will provide an excellent demographic to provide this type of client.
The second group is Alternative Care users. These are people who mistrust allopathic medicine, and prefer to use chiropractors, naturopaths, herbalists, and acupuncturists. A local networking group of alternative care providers is a great way to get referrals, as well as placing posters on other practitioner’s offices, and ads in the local alternative newspaper.
The final group is another backbone of this business - the amateur athletes. There is a large population of seniors who runners ride bicycles, as well as out-of-town participants who return for annual events, and book massages during those times. They are a very loyal group, and will readily give word-of-mouth recommendations, especially if they see massage as having given them a specific boost to their performance. This group will cross over from the Alternative Care users, and become long-term clients after the specific initial injury has healed. They also tend to have chronic injuries or pain, especially as they age, which can encourage them to become repeat clients.

Mobile Nail Files

There is simply nothing better than being pampered! Getting a fresh manicure is SO relaxing and refreshing for anyone of any age. Just imagine the most fabulously luxe nail salon with big, plush chairs that you just melt in, furry pillows, chandeliers, tv, and talented nail techs whose only responsibility is to make you feel and look amazing. Now, imagine having all of that in a mobile nail salon that comes to you for free. It’s a dream worthy of a dove release! Lime Media has created just such a dream as part of a PR plan for TV Guide’s new reality series, “Nail Files,” starring bombshell Katie Cazorla, the owner of Los Angeles’ famous “The Painted Nail” nail bar, where even the hottest celebrities get their mani/pedis.

Our Mobile Spa Tour is a replica of The Painted Nail. It’s shabby chic meets Hollywood glam. We wanted to fully capture the salon experience for clients who came onto the mobile spa with technicians to make sure everyone has a perfect experience. With a 42in. screen inside, clients were able to watch footage of the upcoming reality series and have free WiFi so they could surf the Internet while they waited. The WiFi also helped the team with data capture using iPads for the fans. Even better, Katie Cazorla herself has been traveling with the tour to sign autographs for fans and talk about the exciting new show.

“This has been such an awesome experience. Katie is a firecracker! I love her. I love the Painted Nail. I can’t wait for the show,” said one fan as she stepped out the truck sporting her new sparkled nails. Others expressed their wishes to have mobile salons around the country. “That would be a dream come true,” said one.

The clients get their choice from many colors perfect for the summer. They also get fun giveaway prizes like manicure sets, nail files, and branded totes. Currently, we are averaging between 100-150 painted clients a day! Many of them are posting on facebook or blogging about their Mobile Spa experiences. This is social media at it’s best!

The Nail Files Mobile Spa Tour kicked off in Alpharetta, Georgia in May. Since then, we’ve made stops in Charlotte, Washington DC, Boston, Philadelphia, and Cleveland. Our next appearance is in New York City on June 13-15th, followed by Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and the grand finale in Houston, Texas July 4th weekend. Our major targets have been retail locations such as indoor and outdoor malls, special summer events, radio station locations and more. ...Managers who are clearly experienced and properly educated and want to be sophisticated need to have the following qualities as a manager: globalization, technology, innovation, diversity, and most importantly ethics. Managers would use globalization to expand their business globally, and to increase sales and representation of company’s existence. The use of technology is very important for a manger to know as an instinct. Technology is everywhere in today’s modern world. Managers who don’t know how to use the computer or know how to type, is really pretty much useless in reality. It is very important for managers to learn how to communicate efficiently with the use of modern technology such as chat and e-mail. Innovation is a key success point in a creative manager. Managers should always be looking for new innovative ways to do things. For example if a manger uses chat and e-mail to communicate, will a manger will be better off if they were to use social website to not only represent and market the company but communicate broadly to all employees at once. Therefore the use of social websites has 3 advantages oppose to just the use of e-mail and chat. Social websites advantages are free marketing, so the public can view what the company has wrote. Second broad communication to all employees at the same time, and third representation; making positive remarks about the business to consumers and these are few examples a manager can demonstrate innovation. Manager Expectations

...My definition of a great manager is one who “gets things done through people”; if you want it right you don’t always have to do it yourself. In addition, there is a quote by the philosopher Lao Tzu that I absolutely feel sums up a great leader: “Go to the people. Live with them. Learn from them. Love them. Start with what they know. Build with what they have. But with the best leaders, when the work is done, the task accomplished, the people will say "We have done this ourselves". Leadership: * Be a servant manager – Take a humble approach with your direct reports (supervisors) and work for them, and not the other way around. Treat your direct reports and their employees with dignity, stay focused on the moment and do not multitask when speaking with employees, never interrupt them, listen to them intensely, smiling, saying please and thank you, acknowledge and welcome the contributions of your staff, quickly admit your mistakes, apologize as needed, never have to be the smartest person in the room, spend time on the front lines with your staff, and engage your customers. * Be a positive leader – You will set the tone for the entire staff in your department. If you are down and acting as if you are fighting against the world your staff will feel that same way. Your example is the personality reflected throughout the entire department. I expect you to be a positive leader. You are always setting an example for your staff to follow. Is it a good example, or a bad example...

The Changing Role of the Relationship Manager

...The Changing Role of the Relationship Manager The relationship between wealth managers and their clients is not what it used to be. Public opinion of the financial sector, as a whole, has become sharply critical—people are outraged by the inability of the industry. Clients have become far less trusting and increasingly likely to jump to another wealth manager. But the relationship between RMs and their clients has actually changed well before the onset of crisis. Rise of the Product-Push Model before a Crisis At many wealth-management institutions, particularly the larger ones, the continuity of client relationships has— over time—been disrupted by organizational changes and the shuffling of client portfolios among RMs. In some cases, the goal was to bind the client more to the institution than to an individual advisor. In other cases, however, the institution itself simply could not maintain a consistent service model. At the same time, investors became more interested in diversifying their wealth across institutions. And as information about financial products became more accessible, some investors became self-directed. They tended to be less interested in holistic planning and more interested in specific types of support or investment recommendations. The role of the RM has also changed. Since the beginning of the decade, the RM has become less of a confidant and more of a salesperson. This shift was most apparent in the brokerage model, where RMs began providing targeted...

Conflict of Interest Between Managers and Shareholders

...Corporate managers and shareholders can sometimes find themselves in a conflict of interest. The goal of being a good manager is being able to spot these potential conflicts and to remedy the situation before a serious problem arises. The biggest conflict between managers and shareholders is going to be money. Here is the most common scenario. A corporation is profitable. In fact, the corporation is more profitable than expected. Therefore, the corporation has a cash surplus, if you will. Managers would want this money as a financial bonus and the shareholders would want this money as a stock dividend. What to do? What to do? Mangers will argue that without their leadership and managerial ability, the corporation would not have been as profitable. The shareholders will argue that without their money, the corporation would not have been able to invest in its growth, and therefore, would not have reached that level of prosperity. Who should get the money? Another situation arises when the managers are also shareholders. This may lead a particular manager to push the opposite way of his/her position. For example, if a shareholder manager would get more money from a stock dividend than from a bonus, this shareholder manager might vote in favor of a stock dividend, not because he/she believes that stockholders should be rewarded for their investment, but because it will mean more money for that particular manager. What if only that one manger is a stock holder? Before...

...A product manager investigates, selects, and develops products for an organization, performing the activities of product management. A product manager considers numerous factors such as intended demographic, the products offered by the competition, and how well the product fits with the company's business model. Generally, a product manager manages one or more tangible products. However, the term may be used to describe a person who manages intangible products, such as music, information, and services. A product manager's role in tangible goods industries is similar to a program director's role in service industries. Diverse interpretations regarding the role of the product manager are the norm. The product manager title is often used in many ways to describe drastically different duties and responsibilities. Even within the high-tech industry where product management is better defined, the product manager's job description varies widely among companies. This is due to tradition and intuitive interpretations by different individuals. In the financial services industry (banking, insurance etc.), product managers manage products (for example, credit card portfolios), their profit and loss, and also determine the business development strategy. In a Scrum environment, a Product Manager is also referred to as the Product Owner, and usually has the main role of representing the product to the customer.[1] Some of the responsibilities of the Product Owner include marketing of the...

Football Manager Interview

...Football Manager is an enormously complex simulation. On a global level, the game tracks thousands of careers, ambitions and relationships, and on any given match day, weather, morale, skills and individual personal issues can contribute to moments of brilliance or abject failure. Talking to Sports Interactive’s director Miles Jacobson, I found that the simulation model is even more elaborate in some areas than I’d expected. Read on to find out about the game’s expanding narrative engine, how climate change is forcing the team to update the code that generates weather patterns, why the ugliest aspects of football have no place in FM and how a non-contract player’s family situation might prevent him from playing for your club. RPS: You’ve mentioned in previous interviews that you have a database of thousands of features to implement eventually. But do you have an overall vision of where the game is going to be in two or three years? Is there a shape that it’s taking? Jacobson: I tend to work two versions ahead. It used to be three but it’s two now because we’re managing to fit in a lot more each year, so there’s always an overall vision for the game. Whether that’s a year of revolution or of evolution – I think, certainly, the revolution years are going to be less and less because there’s so much in the game already that we’d rather look at evolving certain large chunks of the game each year. When you’re working on an annually iterative sports title that’s based on real life...
