D1- Evaluate the effectiveness of the use of techniques in marketing products in one organisation.
Aldi is a leading discount supermarket chain which uses a variety of marketing techniques to help them with their success. Aldi have managed to grow their business worldwide and manage to increase their market share and customer base. They have also been able to create a unique market strategy which has given them an edge over there competitors which are increasing massively.
Branding has been helped Aldi become very successful. Today Aldi have a very strong brand name and are very well known. They have been able to create all this through many different methods. Firstly they had to come up with something which was going to make them unique. They came up with their own specialized brands. From their cheaper prices, simple layout and quick checkout service they have managed to achieve a stronger customer base as customers knows they can get a cheaper shop faster. They also didn’t want to be just known for food. So they came up with the idea of selling things depending on the season for example gloves and warm camping gear in winter and school essentials in September. This all help create a good brand if you know you can go to Aldi and do your food shop and get clothes or new kitchen equipment you are more likely to do it. This then leads to market development which for Aldi has been very successful. Since being founded in 1946 Aldi have managed to expand the business worldwide. In 1948 they had a tiny number of four stores located in in Germany and by 1967 they had expanded to around 200 stores. From then Aldi have now managed to grow massively as today they have almost 10,000 stores in 18 different countries including Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, United States of America, Slovenia and Hungary.* In the UK alone Aldi have manged to double the number of stores in
