AC 1.1 Discuss concepts of marketing for a relevant services industry

This research is about the concepts of marketing. I will therefore start by introducing the key terms marketing and marketing management. (Allen, 2007) stated that "Marketing pertains to the interactive process that requires developing, pricing, placing and promoting goods, ideas or services in order to facilitate exchanges between customers and sellers to satisfy the needs and wants of consumers". (Kotler et al, 1996) suggested that "Marketing is the process used to determine what products or services may be of interest to customers and the strategy to use in sales, communications and business development'. The hospitality industry is no different because customer loyalty is key. Marketing managers and executives devote a lot of time and resources to building brand awareness and creating ongoing, interconnected campaigns. These marketing efforts usually include both print and digital collateral that target former guests while also attracting new clientele. However, this particular industry has a unique set of challenges that must be overcome. Understanding the importance of marketing in the hospitality industry can get u ahead and stand out in the competitive job market (Hussung, 2016). Using the marketing concepts in the hospitality industry, opportunities and needs can easily be identified. By making an integrated marketing mix (four P's of marketing), companies can offer better benefits (products that customers wants), effectively build relationships with their customers (by promotions) at attractive prices better than the competitors.
