Maryam Abdul-Kareem (Main female radio show host): In 1997 a white female Michigan resident, Barbara Grutter, applied to get into the University of Michigan Law School. Since Barbara had a 3.8 GPA and a LSAT of 161, she was very confident her acceptance would be undoubtedly instant. This in her situation; was far from her expectations.
Gregg Brown (Male radio co-host): Barbara was not accepted. With her application rejected, she then began to research about the University. Barbara discovered that minority students with lower test scores than her own had been admitted. Feeling her skin color was why the school hadn’t accepted her, Barbara sued the university. Specifically graduate admissions, Lee Bollinger-the dean-, and other officials. The reason behind her move was, that the school made minority races a "predominate" factor in acceptance decisions and that the school purposely favored against whites, and that this dishonored the Fourteenth Amendment.
