I choose the article “Studies Document Mass Incarceration’s Toll on Families’ from the Population Reference Bureau (PRB). The link to the article can be found at the bottom of the discussion. The article states that the United States had more than 2.7 million people in state and federal prisons and local jails, which is one of the world’s highest incarceration rates. Most those inmates have minor children and 45% we’re living with their children prior to being incarcerated.
The study also showed that recently incarcerated parents are less likely to own key assets linked to economic security and social mobility such as a bank account, a car, or a house. The Fragile Families and Wellbeing Study provide multiple findings. The first finding was
