Martin Brower has been a supplier of McDonald’s since 1956. They started by delivering paper products to Ray Kroc’s first restaurant in Illinois, but have gown alongside McDonald’s and can now call themselves their biggest global supplier of food and service products. They have since 1972 offered delivery of the entire inventory the restaurants need. (http://martinbrower.co.uk/our-story.html) McDonalds now expect Martin Brower to keep being innovative and a part of their daily business, while limiting the environmental impact to as low as possible. The different risks of outscoring from McDonald’s perspective could be several losses. One concern that’s usually at the top of the list is the information system. Implementing a new information system can be difficult and result in irregular and incomplete information, which could increase the supply chain’s operating costs and reduced profits. They could lose the control of the supply chain and miss out on information about the market, resulting in miscalculating their objectives. Another risk contains service levels that can involve loss and damage issues etc. Even if it’s agreed upon that the responsibility of losses or damages of products (although the damages are out of the supplier’s control) stays with the supplier until it’s at the final destination. The probability that McDonald’s would put an end to the relationship with Martin-Brower would definitely increase if they would be the cause of one these
