Statement of Purpose

I was thirteen when I prepared a miniature working model of a vending machine for my school’s Science Fair. I came across this idea while watching a movie and was completely fascinated by the ease with which one could access a beverage at the press of a button. I incorporated a simple lever mechanism in the model which poured the beverage upon inserting a marble as the lever would operate upon addition of the marble’s mass. My efforts were highly acclaimed by parents and teachers, and my model was selected as one of the best models of that year. When I look back now, that event seems trivial compared to my present achievements but that was the event which laid the foundation of the exciting and wonderful journey ahead.
Being an inquisitive student I was driven by curiosity and aroused by complex problems dealing with applied science and mathematics, thus pursuing Mechanical Engineering seemed a natural consequence. I topped the merit list among all the students joining Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University for B. Tech degree as per All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) rank, the basis for admission. I excelled at subjects like Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Combustion and …show more content…

As an intern I, subsequently spent my time in all departments of the company, i.e. Procurement, Design, Fabrication, Painting, Quality Analysis and Risk Management to understand the role of each department. I was then assigned in the design and fabrication departments as per my interest. These industrial visits and internship has provided me meaningful perception into the life of a Mechanical

Spiritual and Educational Needs Satisfaction of Mechanical Engineering Students of Lyceum of the Philippines University

...Literature INTRODUCTION: Every day you come in contact with many machines. There’s the clock radio that wakes you up, and the car, bus, or bike you take to school. You use calculators, computers, stereos, and phones throughout the day. Finally, you come home and use the microwave, stove, refrigerator, and electric can opener as you help with dinner. Our lives are a lot easier today, thanks to the mechanical engineers who imagined and built these tools. In a world where we depend on machines more than ever before, mechanical engineers keep things running. Mechanical Engineering is one of the broadest professions. The women and men in the mechanical engineering profession work in almost every industry, in private practice, in government, in medicine, in law, and in universities. Mechanical engineers touch almost every aspect of technology. They create machines, products and technological systems that benefit society. Their work can take them around the world - anywhere there are machines, there are mechanical engineers. The above statements prove that mechanical engineering is not an easy profession. This is the reason why we should consider the spiritual and educational needs. Spirituality means different things to different people. Some persons have religious needs. Spirituality can refer to an ultimate or an alleged immaterial reality an inner path enabling a person to discover the essence of his/her being; or the “deepest values and meanings by which people live.”...

...STATEMENT OF PURPOSE I am XXXXX, a production engineering graduate from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, aiming for graduate studies in the US who foresee myself as a top class specialist in the field of manufacturing systems which is my final goal. My education in Production Engineering was an eye-opener to say the least. When I secured admission to one of the most competitive and rigorous engineering programs in Sri Lanka, I had a structured view of what I might do here. But I found Production Engineering even more interesting and challenging than I had ever imagined. Right from the second year, I took deep interest in the core concepts underlying every phenomenon. Above all, my collective experiences at this college have helped me to define my career goals while my hard work as an undergraduate has reaped the full benefits by graduating with an upper second class honors. Being well aware that my curriculum has equipped me with a comprehensive knowledge of the theoretical aspects only and also knowing its limitations, I took my own steps in applying this theory by gaining practical experience. I could thus achieve a perfect blend of theoretical and practical knowledge by working in companies both local and overseas. My first step was on the specialized field of garment manufacturing with MAS Active-Linea Intimo Pvt. Mechanical Engineers Qualities for Millennium 3

...Mechanical Engineers Qualities for Millennium 3 1) Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent. The mechanical engineer has been called the general practitioner and the jack-of-all trades among engineering professions. This is because he requires education and skills that span a broad range of technical, social, environmental, and economic problems. In general, however, the mechanical engineer is concerned with controlling the principles of motion, energy, and force through mechanical solutions. A mechanical engineer designs the tools and processes used for satisfying the needs of society through a combination of material, human, and economic resources. He might work on electric generators, internal combustion engines, steam and gas turbines, and other power-generating machines. He might also develop machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, power tools, and other power-using machines. Engineers must combine a good understanding of science, mathematics, and computers with a good knowledge of current technology. At the high school level, the emphasis is on mathematics. Two years of algebra plus courses in geometry and trigonometry generally are required. In addition to the sciences and math, engineers need good communication skills, so don't neglect the liberal arts and humanities. In addition, remember that many of the large industrial firms that employ mechanical engineers are multinational...
