Pediatricians communicate with nurses and other healthcare providers, and refer patients to medical specialists when necessary. As a pediatrician one will constantly learn new and exciting things and it all starts with earning a high school diploma, then getting accepted into a four-year institution of their choice. I am currently attending East Georgia College and later plan transfer to Georgia Southern to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Sharon Crandell's Poarch Case

...Sharon Crandell is the attending neonatal doctor at Turner. “Her official titles are associate professor of pediatrics and program director for the Residency Training program in Pediatrics” (Belkin p96). She is a very busy lady so sometimes it seems has if her main focus is on something else other than the patient. “She doesn’t always realize that her blunt, straight forward approach is misinterpreted by the parents” (Belkin p96). She cares for each patient as if they are her own. Although she says “keeping her emotional distance enables her to provide better care” (Belkin p96), we all know this wasn’t the case with Taylor. While working on the Poarch case Sharon was resented by both parents. I do not feel this was because she wasn’t a worthy doctor, it was because she would not fulfill Fran and Carey’s only request for her....

Career Goals

...great happiness. That information has enabled me to make the decision of choosing my area of study and career in the field of Nursing. I was raised with almost everyone in my family working in the medical field. We have marine Doctors, nurses of all sorts, therapists, and even behind the scene medical family members working in jobs like medical billing and coding. Growing up and hearing stories at family gatherings of their experiences, always left me on the edge of my chair. I would not go play barbies with my cousins or basketball with the uncles I was the kid eavesdropping in on the adult conversations. I wanted to know more but most of all I was intrigued. I believe that nursing is both art and a science consisting of psychosocial and biological sciences that work together to continually improve the health care field. As a nurse it is crucial to carry the attributes of being caring, compassionate, understanding, nonjudgmental, realistic, open-minded, honest, ethical, and moral. I also feel that it is important to maintain sensitivity to all cultures when providing care. I believe it takes someone with a huge heart to do what nurses do. Some things you cannot be taught. If you are not a generous and caring person I cannot say I would think one would survive in the hands on medical field. The health care industry is booming; in fact, it is number seven out of 20 leading occupations, according to the BLS (Bureau of Labor...

Direct to Consumer Advertising

...ethical? To analyze this question I will use Rawls’s second principle of distributive justice for analysis. (2) use that method, developing the argument in support of your case; In utilizing direct to consumer advertising for prescription drugs is the advertising “reasonably expected to be to everyone’s advantage”? and “attached to positions and offices open to all?” (DeGeorge 78) One of the predominate claims of the pharmaceutical companies that the advertisements educate the consumer, thus giving them more information to evaluate their needs and to speak intelligently with their doctor. So, is the information provided in an ad or commercial “reasonably expected to be to everyone’s advantage?” It is reasonable to assume that everyone is exposed to the ads with the various media outlets used, such as TV, radio, newspaper, magazines and so forth, but is the education to everyone’s advantage? The drug companies receive a great deal of returns for every dollar spent on the advertising, thus increased profits which benefit the employees and stockholders of the company. Insured American’s may fall under the benefit, as noted by supporters, of seeking medical attention earlier resulting in an earlier diagnosis and, in some cases, treatment for something that may have gone completely untreated....

Developing an Experiential Portfolio

...INTRODUCTION I am a 43 year old mother of two teenage daughters and have been taking stock of what I have achieved and where my career may take me. Hence my partaking in this module to assist the journey I hope to pursue. I have been working in my current position as a band 5 registered nurse for 6 years since I completed a returned to nursing course in September 2005 facilitated by the trust where I am now employed on a full time basis. I have enclosed a current job description at Appendix 1 (attached). For the purpose of this study I have chosen to reflect on 3 learning events that have impacted on me to provide positive outcomes and enrich my working practice. Within the main body of the study I will expand on each individual learning experience based on Gibbs’ cycle of reflection (1988) combined with influence from Johns’ cycle of reflection (1994). See Appendix 2 - 2a (attached). I have chosen to incorporate Gibbs model of reflection as I feel it is quite straight forward and clearly outlines a framework to help me logically describe the event, discuss feelings, evaluate the experience and how it impacted on me and my practice. It leads to a final conclusion with considerations for improvement that I will refer to as my action plan. I have incorporated aspects of Johns’ model of reflection as it quite usefully prompts more detailed consideration of the processes of analysing a situation e.g. influencing factors within an experience. I will explore the implications...

...donation is useful for medical research, education and also beneficial of needy (injured/diseased) living persons. In medical educational sector, usually medical students study anatomy, which deals with the study of composition of human body.
