Introduction Curved Skies, LLC is a small independently owned company. We are known for our passionate, dedicated and dynamic approach to solving challenging Aerospace and Defense problems. We are motivated by a sense of purpose and take pride in creating tailored solutions to each and everyone of our customers. We also encourage innovation and being involved with our employees, customers, and communities. Our headquarters is located in Alexandria, Virginia. However, most of our work is done in Houston, Texas. Curved Skies provides solutions in the Aerospace and Defense sectors. As we grow and expand our business, there is sometimes a lack of information flow to employees. This lack of information flow can sometimes lead to confusion and lack of guidance as to what our goal is for certain projects.
Problem Statement What are ways to improve communications within an organization? Organizations that expand in size and number of employees need to find ways to ensure that pertinent information is distributed in a timely manner to all employees that are affected. Lack of information flow and communications can lead to possible issues with employees and management. These issues could also lead to projects not being accomplished and dissatisfaction from the customers. Communications are important to many facets of a business, whether it is passing information along to employees, or ensuring that information is passed to the customer. Information or communications can happen in several ways (i.e. email, social media, and advertising.) I am going to research the ways to improve communications in all manners. Mgmt 591 Lsi Research Paper

...LSI research paper Dennis Miao dmiao8@gmail.com MGMT 591 Professor Rick Lochner 09 September 2013 My primary (highest percentile score) personal thinking style according to my circumplex is Humanistic-Encouraging at the 1 o’clock position. And my “backup” (second highest percentile) personal thinking style shown on my circumplex is Achievement at the 11 o’clock position. My Humanistic-Encouraging and Achievement are both scored at 99%, therefore my primary and secondary thinking styles were established by looking at the self improvement plan section of my LSI. According to the LSI self development guide the Humanistic-Encouraging style can strengthen both knowledge of people and the quality of relationships. I can agree with the majority of the statements when it talks about how to become more Humanistic-Encouraging with my own life and work experiences. The LSI talks about thinking of qualities that I admire in someone who has made a difference in my life with my growth and development and recognizing the difference they have made in my life. I find that a lot of times when somebody has made that difference in my life I do my best to appreciate the positive difference they have made and try to take on the qualities that has made that person somebody that I admire. The LSI guide also states this style tends to ask others what they think. Thinking back on it, I do that quite often especially in the military. When I was in ROTC we were always told to let senior NCO’s...

...Personal Thinking Style Life Styles Inventory Paper Name Elisa Richardson MGMT 591 – Leadership and Organizational Behavior Prof: Patrick Kinane Date 09/10/2015 My primary thinking falls into the category of passive/defensive style, which based on the LSI results, represents self-protecting thinking and behavior that promotes the fulfillment of security needs through interaction with people and It is one of my security needs. The information that was provided by the result of my survey, I have found that my primary personal thinking style is avoidance with a score of 99%, and my secondary as my “backup” personal thinking is dependent and oppositional both with a score of 90%. At my old job there were people trying to do evil things to get to the top and that is one of the reasons why I left so early my first job. Because I was young many took advantage of me, “bossy” people that would rather tell me to do tasks that where not related to my position as Human Resources Assistant. I do not see myself as an avoidance , in terms of personal life, but yet in terms of professional life, if I am not familiar with the work, and I am new at the company I tend to avoid situations that might get me fired for lack of evidence in my behalf. I once was working for a company a Bank one of the biggest and popular Bank back in my country. At one point I was tired of avoiding and to not have where to scream and whom to listen and would believe in me, because of that I left my job and...

...MGMT 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior Project Proposal Workforce Diversity and Performance [Type the author name] MGMT 591 Professor: Tyson Moore Ph.D. 7/21/13   OVERVIEW OF ORGANIZATION The organization that will be my topic of discussion for my project paper is Jons Marketplace. I would like to specify that I am not part of this organization; 98 percent of my life I was on my own, but I do have a relative working there as a manager. As a brief overview of the organization that I have chosen for my topic, I can say that this organization was founded in 1977 as a family-owned supermarket chain in southern California. Their approach is “Everyone knows that no two snowflakes are alike, so why should neighborhood markets be? (No trick question here: they shouldn’t.) Our sentiment exactly. We’ve created our stores to be as unique and special as our customers. That’s why we’ve adapted each JONS market – each store layout, each building design, each product offering – to the needs and preferences of its specific community. In each case we’ve worked hard to gather so many different types of general grocery items and international items under one roof, so you can spend less time searching for the foods you love – and more time savoring them.” Well, I like that. This approach is showing exactly some things about diversity in general and about their diversity workforce. And here it comes what we call work force diversity, according to their website:...

LAN Infotech is a small IT consulting company that specializes in IT projects and services. The company was first created when the owner first sold his shares from a company he helped form in New York called LAN Associates. Doing so, he was able to acquire all the small businesses the company was managing down in South Florida. He created LAN Infotech and started to provide professional IT services to the clients. The company grew from three employees in 2008 to at its highest of 25 throughout the years. Being in a highly competitive area where there are plenty of small managed service providers, it can be hard at times to gain and keep clients. So far LAN Infotech has been able to steadily grow and have also gained a lot of clients and business. Part of the success is credited to the engineers that have worked and currently work for the company. LAN Infotech has been featured in many local business magazines and has won numerous awards from partners such as Dell and Microsoft. But that’s not where the issue is, the issue is with the level of commitment from the engineers and the level of commitment from upper management, mainly the owner...

Combating the Aggressive Life Style Inventory

...Combating the Aggressive Life Style Inventory and Gaining Success in the Workplace Glenn R November 9, 2014 MGMT 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior Dr. Barbara Vallera Keller Graduate School of Management of DeVry University Abstract This paper explores the Life Styles Inventory (LSI) assessment and pitfalls of the competitive and approval management styles. In this evaluation, I also examine strengths and impacts of these styles. Specifically, how they can be utilized to benefit the organization and how these styles impact the four functions of management. This paper also reviews my circumplex (a person’s personal LSI profile) and critically evaluates and explains how these styles were developed. Through the course, Management 591 (MGMT 591), Leadership and Organizational Behavior (LOB), I also reflect on goals and accomplishments that can be achieved through the analysis of these frames. Combating the Aggressive Life Style Inventory and Gaining Success in the Workplace The LSI assessment helps an individual understand themselves by measuring what motivates individual behaviors. This assessment was developed by Robert A. Cooke and J. Clayton Lafferty, copyrighted by Human Synergistics International. It takes into account one’s thoughts and self-concepts and translates it into how one behaves. It looks at how one’s thinking influences goals, relationships, leadership effectiveness, and the ability to cope with stress (“What LSI Measures”, 2014). The...

We as instructors go to great lengths to ensure students are given ample opportunity to succeed. We stay after class, provide assistance with their lesson plans, and deliver the material in a way that suits different styles of learning. I am particularly partial to making charts and drawing flowcharts of contracting processes to foster comprehension, interpretation, and application. Each class is also divided into teams. This helps simulate the actual workplace environment. Contracting specialists do not work alone. Research Proposal

...MGMT 591: Leadership and Organizational Behavior Research Proposal Research Proposal Overview of Organization Founded in 1860 by Hugo Wesendonck, The Germania Life Insurance Company survived the Civil War, World War 1 and 2, the depression, recessions, and more. The company has learned to grow and adapt to the many changes that it faced. In the first two years of its operation, the company had insurance agencies all across the US in states that included Colorado, the Dakotas, New Mexico, and Arizona. In 1868 they became the first US insurance company to open an office in Europe. However, with the changes in the business world brought about by World War 1, Germania discontinued doing business in Europe 1917. At the end of that same year their name changed to The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America. In 1911 they moved to Union Square in Manhattan and for 85 years this office would serve as the headquarters for Guardian. After the company saw many years of growth and expansion the decision was made to provide more regionalized home office functions. Therefore, in 1982 three branch offices were created in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Washington State. Guardian started out as a company that was based on mixed stocks and mutual but in 1925 they switched to a full mutual company. Therefore, there are no stockholders or private owners. DATLEX is a publicly traded, global security company whose headquarters is in Lagos, Nigeria. We primarily sell security doors and cheque security products to banks and other financial institutions. In 2009, the Central Bank of Nigeria revoked the licenses of many microfinance banks and made it mandatory for commercial banks to have a minimum shareholder fund of 25million Naira. This reform affected many banks, some closed down operations while many had to merge in order to meet up. DATLEX went through a significant financial meltdown, as many of these banks are the company’s major clients. During this down turn, many workers were laid off and it affected the culture of DATLEX. It affected the income of the company and thus affected all the staff as a whole. DATLEX went from having a benefits package to having a NO benefits package. They used to have all types of employee incentives and appreciation activities. Employees usually get an official car after three years of service to the company. Now the employees are lucky if they get a chicken in the fall and a bag of rice at the Christmas holidays. Rewards for employees doing well are not there anymore.
