Ashley, It’s about ten o’clock here and I couldn’t be anymore exhausted. We were prompted to wake up about four o’clock this morning. We’re all done with the days where all we do is stand in formation and learn how to march correctly, thank god. We have actually been doing some real training but it’s just the basics. Tomorrow (Monday) we get to go through the gas chamber though! So we will see how that goes. From what I hear you stand in there with your mask on, and then you have to take it off for about thirty seconds before you can exit the room. I guess people tend to pass out and throw up everywhere. So it could be some fun! I wish we could do some more repelling or shooting, but that’s not for a couple weeks. I just want to be out of this stupid place and get my phone and everything back. But I just have to be tough for a few more weeks and then it will all pay off. Guess what? I tried to steal a piece of pie in the dining hall at dinner because I wanted something sweet, but I got caught. So now I get no pie at all. They are so strict on what you can eat, you can’t even but Gatorades out of the vending machines. It’s so lame! And as soon as I get off the shuttle to the airport I am buying some candy and a coke. I can’t wait! I feel like I’m in prison. Not a day goes by where I don’t think about you. You’re the one thing keeping me going and all I look forward to when I get leave. I’ve been counting down the days till I get to see your beautiful face again. I can’t wait to take you out to dinner and have it be like old times again. I’m so sorry for putting you through this. It’s one of my biggest regrets. I’m sorry I can’t call you as much or for very long but we just have to hang in there until I get my phone back for good. And plus, I have been writing you every night before I go

...Troy Evans Language December 2nd 2010 Eminem’s life has been full of ups and downs. He went from having no money in the ghetto of Detroit to being a famous millionaire rap star icon. He dropped out of high school after failing 9th grade three times. Then he turned to music. He constantly read the dictionary so he could have a srong vocabulary. Marshall was entering underground rap battles to prove himself in the music industry. It was a lot harder for him to do this since he was white and rap was primarily an African American musical style. It was unheard of that a white rapper could be at the top. After studying rap and figuring out what he wanted to sound like, the famous producer Dr. Dre discovered Eminem. His first album The Slim Shady EP was a hit. People were starting to recognize the young sensation. Early Work The second album that Eminem made was The Slim Shady LP. This album has won awards for greatest rap album. The next album was The Marshall Mathers LP and it was the highest selling hip hop/rap album of all time. I guess you can say he was growing into a huge hit. But there was a dark side Eminem had legal issues with his wife Kim Mathers and also experimented with drugs. He was also criticized for lyrics that were disrespectful to homosexuals and different races. The Eminem Show and Encore His next two albums were considered not his greatest work and critics said it could have been a lot better. The album Encore was considered his worst album...

Fieldwork Assignment

...[Writer Name] [Supervisor Name] [Subject] [Date] Fieldwork Paper In my fieldwork project observed a number of gamers who will be divided into 2 categories of addicts and non addicts. People who play for more than 5 hours a day are called addicts and those who play less time than that are called non-addicts. Which will focus on the specific players in a game called World of Warcraft. This game is a very popular game worldwide with over 5000 people playing at any given time (Cronin 113-147). Its popularity is one of the reasons why people are getting addicted to it. Gamers are all the time looking for new and interesting games and as they find something new they started playing and telling their friends and family about it. In this way those people themselves get obsessed of games as well as they make others overwhelmed with the interest of gaming. I would define this group of players as a culture because they have their own way of life that is very different from anything one is, they spend much of their time in gaming which is no more than a way to get busy. And this activity does not mean anything useful. In addition at one point these 5000 players are playing then a sort of a social group of their own. Some of my songs are complete addicts and play this game at least 8 hours a day without worrying about college, sleep or work. These people have no friends and not have any food because they are busy playing Warcraft all day (Mayra 45-113). We think that it will be a great...

Have you ever thought about it? When we play games we don’t really look at the negative side of game addiction. But well there is a negative side and positive side as well to the game addiction. I know nobody really cares but we should and that’s why today I want to focus on game addiction. What is game addiction? It’s an obsession with games, be it any kind of game. Game addiction is mainly caused by stress and in confidence. In 20th century advancing in the technology has change the way people work now, many people depend on technology. Games are becoming increasingly popular, especially with reasonably young kids. Today’s elaborate games require the players to pay constant attention to the game, and to be a part of the game’s script, this has numerous negative effects on children. Children who are addicted to games have built a wall around them self which doesn’t allow them to know what’s happening around the world and themselves. In my opinion game addiction has become serious matter between children’s between all ages. In my perspective game addiction can be fun but at the same time it can be dangerous for children’s. Eminem

...Marshal Mathers, also known as Eminem, has been creating a stir in the music industry over the past few years. Many people feel affended and intimidated with him while he uses his freedom of speech and expresses himself. His rapping and hip hop lyrics are raw, explicic and very offending to many different types of people. There are many reasons for the type of music Eminem makes. There are many reasons why his music is the way it is. Eminem, A.K.A. Slim Shady, made his debut in 1998. Many people do not understand where Slim Shady comes from. As a child, he had no father, his mother was an alcoholic and a drug addict. Also Eminem moved back and forth from Kansas city to urban Detroit. While growing up, he was picked on and beaten by people all the time. He would get jumped and beat by his mother. All of these instances lead to the type of music he makes today. To add to all of this, his closest relative and best friend, comitted suicide when Slim was in his adolcence. The song I selected is off of Eminems most recent album, The Marshal Mathers LP, and it is titled “The Real Slim Shady”. I chose this song for many reasons. This song mocks the mainstream artists and songs of the time. He makes a pop song which becomes mainstream, in order to show everyone how easy it is to make pop music. Also, his lyrics rhyme and make sense and i think it is amazing how his signing and music just flows perfectly. Eminem has explicic lyrics which help to press the issue at hand...

The Army

...I joined the United States Army. At the time that I joined that Army, the country was still dealing with the aftermath of 9/11. All throughout high school, all that my friends and I talked about was joining the Army to help protect our country, get revenge and make a difference. I also did not feel as though college was for me or an option finically. The first step in joining the Army is that you need to talk to a recruiter and go through MEPS. Then after that you, you are told which base you will go to for your basic training. After basic training you are then assigned a unit. Finally when your ready, you retire from the Army. I will not talk about war that’s a whole story on its own which is not something I care to share with anyone. Before the end I hope that I can give you a view of what the military is really like. The first step that every solider takes is talking to a recruiter. You can only believe about 10% of what a recruiter tells you. They will tell you that basic training will be fun. Which it can be, but it will also be some of the hardest days of your life. All you are to them is just another number. A number that is going to help their promotional packet. The recruiter gets you set up for Military Entrance Processing Station or MEPS. At MEPS their main goal is to test you to see if you are mentally and physically eligible to join the military. With doctors constantly poking at you bring up all of your medical history you really just feel like a rat...

Role of Military in Disaster Management

...ROLE OF MILITARY IN DISASTER MANAGEMENT The 21st century has seen an increasing number of natural disasters with alarming intensity – the 2001 Bhuj earthquake; the 2004 tsunami; the 2005 earthquake in Kashmir; heavy rainfall in Mumbai in 2006; the 2008 Bihar Kosi river flood; the August 2010 cloud burst in Leh; the September 2011 Sikkim earthquake; and, most recently, in June, the unprecedented flash floods and cloudbursts in Garhwal, parts of Kumaon and Nepal, and Kinnaur region of Himachal Pradesh. Each of these disasters has seen the active involvement of the armed forces in the relief operations. The military’s primary task is to guard the nation’s borders. In matters domestic, the military is supposed to be a second respondent, except in the case of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear incidences. Theoretically, the principle is “last to enter and first to leave”. However, when theory is matched with practice, this does not seem to be the case. According to the Administrative Reforms Commissions, the military needs to be taken off from the loop of disaster management gradually. While it may sound sensible on paper, it is not really possible in practice. The civil administration is usually not properly geared up for an effective response. It needs to be noted that discipline and efficiency is the first demand in disaster response and relief tasks, which are often dangerous missions and quite naturally the military brings in order in post-disaster operations. Wherever...
