Mineral and Water Function
Minerals are important to a person’s body to help cells to function in the body and to assist in building lean muscle. A person’s body needs minerals so that vitamins are able to be processed. There are several minerals that help our bodies function. Calcium helps in the development of our bones and teeth, muscle contractions, nerve impulses and clotting our blood. Magnesium helps with neuromuscular activity, bones, liver, muscle and transfer of intercellular water, and alkaline balance. Sodium helps with body fluid volume, nerve impulse condition and keeping electrolytes balanced. Potassium helps with heart rhythm, acid base balance, nerve impulse condition and cell membrane. Copper provides elastic tissue formation, cholesterol utilization, hemoglobin formation and a oxidase enzyme activator. Zinc transports carbon dioxide, protein synthesis, the storage of insulin, sexual function, healing of wounds and carbohydrate metabolism. Iron transports oxygen and electrons, enzyme activator and formation of hemoglobin. Manganese utilizes vitamin B1, production of fluids in joints, protein metabolism, connective tissue and carbohydrates metabolism. There are several other minerals these are just to name a few and the importance of them in our bodies. They help in enzyme reactions within our bodies. Minerals come from soil and cannot be made by our bodies. Enzymes are a part of all living cells, animals, plants and people. Enzymes are specific in their actions. Minerals work in balance with metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and fats.
If there is a mineral that is of abundance it takes from others and it can cause deficiencies.

There are sixty minerals that make up only 4% of our body weight. Twenty-two minerals are required in the dietary intake to maintain health.
