What I have read I have found out that there are two different types of the vitamins and they are water solubles and also the fat soluble(5). Now the water solubles are the b complex and lets not forget the C that dissolves in the water soluble of vitamins. What I think that is interesting that the minerals are the inorganic elements. Did you know that the vitamins and the minerals have the specific functions(1)? Plus they are derived from the variety of foods of sources. The vitamin A is responsble for the promoting the vision, tooth development, bone growth, formation of hormones, cell reproduction healthy skin, mucous membranes, healthy skin, and finally hair(2). Now lets talk about the retinol because it is a form of a vitamin A and it is also found in the animal products for example milk, liver and eggs. Just while the beta carotene is just about an abundant that is in the plant of foods for example mangoes, carrots, spinach, sweet potatoes, apricots, and pumkin. Finally the vitamin D is known for the sunshine becaouse for this partiqular vitamin is produced by the human body from and after the exposer for the sunshine(3). Functions of Mineral and Water

...The Function of Minerals and Water Lisa Foster SCI/241 Nutrition November 4, 2012 Sandra Silmon Minerals play two major functions in the body; those pertain to the forming of the human physique, and also in the aid of bodily operations. Large quantities of certain minerals are needed and they are identified as Macro elements, then the other is needed in a lessened dosage, and they are recognized as Microelements. Calcium is a very essential mineral because it is, helpful in maintaining healthy teeth and strong bones. It also aids in the nerve operation and clotting of the hemoglobin. The greatest basis of nutrients is fruits, nuts, kernels, and vegetables, out of the several presented green leafy vegetables are deemed the top source. Various nutrients are tough to receive from fruits or vegetables, so in order to receive the best minerals from them extracting the juices are suggested. This process divides the minerals from the filament of the botany. An essential foundation of minerals that the human physique needs can be found in coconut water. It contains supplements, minerals, and enzymes, along with it being low in fat and sugar. Coconut water can also be administered both orally and in an IV. The chemical balance is that similar to what is found in the human hemoglobin. Coconut water is also a treatment for dehydration and undernourishment. Physicians have used coconut water as a treatment for illnesses connected to dehydration such as diarrhea, influenza...

Mineral & Water Function

...Mineral and Water Function Ebony M. Dean SCI/241 January 18, 2013 Joseph Casico Mineral and Water Function The body needs many minerals; these are called essential minerals. Essential minerals are sometimes divided up into major minerals such as macrominerals and trace minerals like microminerals. These two groups of minerals are equally important, but trace minerals are needed in smaller amounts than major minerals. A balanced diet usually provides all of the essential minerals. There are seven minerals that play a large part in the body and how it functions. The seven minerals are sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and sulfur. All of these minerals have a certain function and its own source. Sodium is needed for proper fluid balance, nerve transmission, and muscle contraction. A good source of sodium is table salt, soy sauce; large amounts in processed foods. Chloride is needed for proper fluid balance and makes stomach acid. A good source of chloride is also found in table salt, soy sauce; and found in small amounts in milk, meats, breads, and vegetables. Potassium like sodium and chloride is needed for proper fluid balance. A good source can be found in meats, milk, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. ...Mineral and Water Function Minerals and water are essential to health and bodily functions. Minerals are important to muscle functions and body structure, nerve function and fluid balance. There are sixty minerals that make up only 4% of our body weight. Twenty-two minerals are required in the dietary intake to maintain health. There are two categories that minerals are broken down in to, macrominerals and microminerals. Macrominerals are considered major minerals and include calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, chloride and sulfur. Microminerals or trace elements are needed in smaller quantities and include iron, copper, zinc, selenium and iodine among others. Trace elements are likewise important but are needed in smaller amounts. All of these minerals have a certain function and its own source. Sources of minerals are abundant and can be found in both food and plant sources. For fluid balance, sodium, potassium and chloride are all necessary. Magnesium, sodium, calcium and potassium are critical for proper nerve transmission and functioning. Magnesium and phosphorus are both required for healthy bones and teeth and sulfur is needed for healthy protein molecules. Calcium is most known to keep bones and teeth healthy, it is also important for blood clotting, immune system and regulation and blood pressure regulation. Minerals and Water Functions

...Mineral and Water Function SCI/241 Susan Runyon February 20, 2015 An-Chan Chen Minerals are an essential part of our diet, and in order to stay healthy we must consume more than 20 minerals in our food. Minerals come from both plant and animal sources. They contribute to the body’s structure and help regulate body processes. Some minerals help regulate water balance; others help regulate energy metabolism, and some effect growth and development. “Many minerals act as cofactors needed for enzyme activity.” (WileyPlus) Minerals interact with other minerals as well as other nutrients and other components of the diet. Water is the one nutrient that is often overlooked. It accounts for 60% of our body water and is found inside cells and outside cells, in the blood, the lymph, and the spaces between cells. Water is used a solvent for glucose, amino acids, minerals, proteins and many other molecules. “Water is the primary constituent of blood, which flows through our bodies, delivering oxygen and nutrients to cells and delivering waste products to the lungs and kidneys for excretion.” (WileyPlus) Water is also used to protect various parts of the body. It bathes the cells of the body and lubricates and cleanses internal and external body surfaces. Water in tears lubricates the eyes and washes away dirt, water in synovial fluid lubricates the joints; and water in saliva lubricates the mouth, helping us to chew and swallow. Mineral and Water Function

...WATER AND MINERALS JESSICA STEFFEY SCI/241 5/28/2014 KIMBERLY STEPHENSON WATER AND MINERALS Water and minerals are a vital part of keeping your body healthy and happy. When it comes to our bodies, it is up to us to keep them running at top form. Minerals are basically the spark plug to our motor. Minerals are the catalysts that keep our “battery” charged and running. The minerals keep the “charge” for the “battery”. Our bodies cannot produce minerals so we must consume the minerals that we need. The minerals come from the earth. Good soil can have 45% minerals in it. Minerals help the skeleton, help energy production, nerve and muscle functions, and help with the immune health. They maintain the pH balance in the body. There are 103 minerals, at least 18 of these are necessary for good health. There are two categories of minerals essential within the body. They are called macro-minerals and micro-minerals. “There can be no one mineral deficiency, they must be maintained in balance within the body.”(Divine Health 2012) Hydration is one of the very few primary needs for the human body. There are five basic functions of water in our body. They are cell life, chemical and metabolic reactions, transport of nutrients, and body temperature regulation. The last one would be the elimination of water. A healthy sedentary adult who lives a temperate climate should drink about 1.5 liters of water every day. Dehydration can kill a person. The general symptoms are...

Mineral and Water Function

...Mineral and Water Function Essay Lathe Alexander Sci/241 1/18/15 Summer Huntley-Dale In this paper we will be discussing; what are the functions and sources of minerals? What is the function of water in the body? What is the general effect of dehydration on the body? How can you prevent dehydration? These are the functions and sources of minerals and water in the body, and the general effect of dehydration, and how to prevent it. Functions and sources of minerals Minerals contribute to the body's structure and help regulate body processes. Many serve more than one function. For example, we need calcium to keep our bones strong as well as to maintain normal blood pressure, allow muscles to contract, and transmit nerve signals from cell to cell. Some minerals help regulate water balance, others help regulate energy metabolism, and some affect growth and development through their role in the expression of certain genes. Many minerals act as cofactors needed for enzyme activity. None of the minerals we require acts in isolation. Instead, they interact with each other as well as with other nutrients and other components of the diet. Eating a variety of foods, including fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, whole grains and cereal, milk, seafood, and lean meats can maximize your diets mineral content. Patterson, PhD  There are only two main functions of minerals in the body, to build body structures, and help in bodily functions. Some minerals are need in large amounts and are called macroelements, others are needed in much smaller doses, and these are called microelements. Some minerals such as calcium are used to build strong teeth and bones, but also to help in blood clotting and nerve function. The best sources of minerals are fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds, of all of these green leafy vegetables are the best of these sources. Some minerals are hard to get from the fruit or vegetable so to get the most minerals out of the vegetable or fruit some dietitians recommend juicing them. Water helps to regulate body temperature, lubricate joints, helps to dissolve nutrients and minerals so that the body can use them. Almost all of the body’s major systems depend on water to function properly. The average male in good health need around three liters or 13 cups of liquid a day, and the average female in good health need around nine cups per day. If we done not drink enough water everyday there is a chance of dehydrating and that can lead to serious problems within your body. Water forms the basis for all fluids in the body, such as blood and digestive juices, and it's the catalyst in all metabolic functions throughout the body.
