July 5, 2014 1. According to the power point, information technology is the hardware in which information systems are built upon. Information Systems are the interrelated components that manage information to support decision making and helps with analysis, visualization, and product creation.
Operational excellence is characterized by high efficiency and high productivity, thus resulting in higher profits. Information Systems can help achieve this because they are designed to provide solutions to important business problems and potential challenges 2. The four steps are: Problem Identification, solution design, choice, and implementation. IN the first step, the problem and its cause are identified. The second step is characterized by considering a multitude of designs for the solution from all perspectives. The third step involves considering the cost and amount of resources, including time, before the solution can be implemented. The last step is when the solution is put into action. This may include testing the system and asking for feedback from users. If the solution does not help, then the steps are repeated all over again.
The dimensions are: Organization, People and Technology. Business processes, for example hiring new employees, are within the organization dimension. People are another important dimension because it takes skilled people to build and monitor them. Managers are extremely important in developing the strategic plan of the business. Technology is the dimension in which information systems are built upon. This includes computer hardware as well as the applications needed to make communications possible. 3. Mis 589 Week 2 Homework

...Week 2 Homework assignment R3) What are some of the possible service that a link-layer protocol can offer to the network layer? Which of these link layer services have corresponding services in IP? In TCP? Some of the possible services that can be offered by a link-layer protocol include Framing which encapsulates each network-layer datagram within a link layer frame prior to transmitting. Link access, Reliable delivery and Error detection and correction are the remaining services offered by a link-layer protocol. Reliable delivery has a corresponding service in TCP. Link access has corresponding services in IP. Suppose two nodes start to transmit at the same time a packet of length L over a broadcast channel of Rate R. Denote the propagation delay between the two nodes as dprop. Will there be a collision if dprop <L/R? Why or Why not. Since both nodes are transmitting at the same time, I assume Dprop would be N1/N2 =1. The efficiency is 1/ (1+ 5(1)/ dtrans. The test states that as Dprop approaches 0, the efficiency approaches 1 and vice versa. So, since dprop is 1 the efficiency is towards 0 which would suggest a collision. How big is the MAC address space? The IPv4 address space? The IPv6 address space The MAC address space is 6 bytes long or 2*48 possible MAC addresses. 281474976710656 possible MAC addresses. ...Homework 1. Multi-point is a line or circuit interconnecting several stations/nodes in a sequential fashion. Point-to-point is a circuit or line that has only two terminals 2. Guided media are the physical links through which signals are confined to narrow path. Three common types of bounded media are used of the data transmission. These are Coaxial Cable, Twisted Pairs Cable, and Fiber Optics Cable. Twisted pair A pair of wires used in standard telephone wiring. They are twisted to reduce interference caused by the other twisted pairs in the same cable bundle. Twisted-pair wires go from homes and offices to the telephone company end office. Fiber-optic cable A transmission medium that uses glass or plastic cable instead of copper wires. Coaxial cable An insulated wire that runs through the middle of a cable. A second braided wire surrounds the insulation of the inner wire like a sheath. Used on LANs for transmitting messages between devices. 6. Analog Transmission Transmission of a continuously variable signal as opposed to a discrete on/off signal. The traditional way of transmitting a telephone or voice signal is analog. Digital transmission Is the transmission of binary electrical or light pulses in that it only has two possible states, a 1 or a 0. ...INTRODUCTION There is little doubt that no two people study the same way, and it is a near certainty that what works for one person may not work for another. However, there are some general techniques that seem to produce good results. So I decided to concentrate on working for this research because it’s very important for the readers to read this so that they have to step up in learning styles. My purpose of doing this research is to develop myself and to serve this thing as stepping stone to make a thesis and in consideration in making a book. Now I am making this just to show you how the proper process of learning is. The purpose of this research is to provide us significant ideas about real learning styles, study skills and thinking skills in analyzing some neither questions nor problems that we don’t know and to improve and enhance our memory in studying some lessons in a book. It also improves us to organize our studies, express our ideas clearly and effectively and how to communicate with others clearly and fluently. The first part of this research is focused on defining the three bodies of skills and you will know the utilization of effective language-learning strategy is. These three bodies of skills approaches us to have more experience on how to learn to be critical to success in school, considered essential for acquiring new good grades and useful for learning through out’s life. Of course this convinces us that these skills can be applied in other areas...

The library is being the most popular place in Univerisity of Bridgeport because of your work hard. However, most of the students say that the network service needs to improve. If students are satisfied with the network, they would prefer study in the library. The solution is to upgrade network service which just cost few money. It benefits for everyone who studies or works in the library. There is a serious problem be concerned University of Bridgeport students who study in the library. I often study in the library. One of the network problems is network instability. For example, I have to research some information about my assignment, because my first language is not English, I always research more academic information after class or look up the unknown words in an online dictionary. However, I have to connect the UB network approximately every five minutes. I was really bothered by the unstable network here. This action which is frequently loggeing on to the internet makes my learning efficiency lower, because I cannot focus on the studying. The unstable network not only bothered me, but also bothers my friends. There are a statistic for this issue. My four friends...

...able to help the other one with a problem. Deal with cramps right away. When there’s something you don’t understand, you may be tempted to just put it aside and hope for the best. That strategy doesn’t work at all in math! Because everything builds, if you don’t understand A you will probably not understand B and C either. If this happens in class, ask a question right away. Don’t apologize and don’t worry about looking stupid; probably other people have exactly the same question. Outside of class, use the Baker Center tutors or talk through the problem with your study buddy. Visit your instructor during office hours or make an appointment for another time. Warm up before the event. Before class, look back over the readings and your homework. Make sure you are ready with any questions. Stay in training. Review your notes after class, even rewrite them to make sure you understand everything. If there are several days between classes, review the material at least every other day to keep it fresh in your mind. Make sure you train enough. The College recommends 2–3 hours per classroom hour, but you may need more. Recognize especially that in the summer you’re making a big time commitment. If your class meets five days a week for an hour and 40 minutes a day, that’s two 50-minute classroom hours, which means you should expect to study 4–6 hours per night, every...
