Discuss the type of product the company will offer and identify its primary characteristics. Perception is everything. This sentiment is the driving factor of marketing: to influence perceptions. Convenience, shopping, specialty, and unsought products and services are the four (4) major types of consumer products in marketing (Kondrat, 2010). RADD’s products would fall into specialty products category which will stress quality and convenience for the customer. There are three components to the product that RADD is selling: core, actual, and augmented. It can be argued that the core product for RADD is the personalized services being offered for consumption to the pet in the areas of grooming, training, daycare, and boarding. Full service grooming will include washing, drying, hair cutting for specific breeds, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and expressing of the anal gland. The core product of self-service grooming is the use of the facilities and products. The facilities and expertise of our staff are also the products for the training, daycare and boarding that is offered by RADD. The actual product that RADD offers has five main characteristics. First and foremost is the quality that is offered by RADD’s staff and of the products that are provided. RADD has the highest quality standards in the industry and expects nothing less from the RADD staff. The second characteristic is that the RADD brand name will stand for convenience and go hand in hand with quality. The third feature is pricing. RADD has chosen a pricing structure of a little above the market average to reflect our higher pricing. The fourth characteristic is design. We encourage frequent purchases and accommodate a dynamic schedule which requires little planning. The fifth characteristic is the features that are offered to each customer.
