India Resort Fashion Week 2013 opened with a stunning collection by designers like Pria Kataria Puri, Masaba Gupta, Archana Kochhar, Ramona Narang and Varoin Marwah in Mumbai.
Bollywood's true-blue fashionista Kangana Ranaut sashayed the ramp in a maroon Archana Kochhar creation with a sheer skirt, while celebs like Sunny Leone, Shazahn Padamsee, Celina Jaitly, Sophie Choudry and Mandira Bedi, among many others graced the front rows.
The four-day fashion extravaganza commenced with the launch of the very first edition of India Resortwear Fashion Calendar on December 11 and will conclude with the India Glamour & Fashion Awards on December 14.
Other designers participating this season include Nandita Mahtani, Malini Ramani, Surily Goel, Rocky S, Babita Malkani, Sai Suman and Sounia Gohil.
Best known as the Queen of kaftan, designer Pria Kataria Puri opened the show with her colourful and glamorous Lust line. The collection included her signature kaftans and swimwear but a unique thing about her designs this time was the use of belts, slits and antique gold lace which added a feminine touch to the garments.
The silhouettes included saris, tunics, maxis, mini dresses, swimsuits, jumpsuits, crop tops with high waist pants and hippie pants. The colour palette was a tasteful mix of vibrant and vivacious beach off white, neon green, bright fuschia, sunny yellow and turquoise.
"Indian fashion is known around the world for its resortwear and Indian designers are also known for their resortwear creations," the designer said.
Talking about her collection, designer Nishka Lulla said, "The line is very easy to wear. It is versatile and comfortable. The high point of the collection is that one can wear it like separates with whole lot of options to mix and match."
Nishika's collection is inspired by her travelling experiences and boasts of classic patterns and versatile pieces that can be worn to any occasion.
The designs have an eclectic mix of crop tops, dresses, trousers and jackets with fabrics that vary from cotton, crepe to organza in pastel colour palette ranging from minty greens and ice cream sundae pinks to muted greys and soft lavender.
