Introduction

Have you ever got up in the morning and thought, "I really don't want to go to work today"? I think we all have at some point in our lives. You may also have had times when you have thought or said, "I hate my job, I hate where I work." These feelings have nothing to do with you, your job or your workplace. The problem lies in the fact that your supervisor or manager has no idea how to manage organizational behavior.
OB is frequently applied to topics such as

Marketing Orientation

...Market Orientation Market orientation (MO) is one of the most visible phrases in marketing, especially in the MBA and MSc courses on marketing. In many ways it has become an umbrella term (and thus in danger of losing its effectiveness), and is sometimes confused with the marketing concept, customer satisfaction, customer orientation etc. Even though there might be an overlap with the latter terms, this short, friendly note will define MO more precisely and set it in the context of top academic research, especially since 1990. Origins: The Marketing Concept Some highly popular textbooks claim MO is synonymous with the marketing concept. For example, one of most popular marketing texts notes in the first chapter that “the marketing concept is often referred to as ‘market orientation’”. This might have been the case till 1990, but ever since, we distinguish between the two terms. Drucker (1954) may have been one of the first theorists to suggest that creating satisfied customers was the only valid definition of business purpose. Webster (1988) summarized the marketing concept by noting that “executives must put the interests of the customer at the top of the firm’s priorities.” You may like to think of it as a kind of a philosophy, a belief, an ideal, a policy statement, or even a normative statement. Market Orientation In 1990, two seminal papers were published in the Journal of Marketing, which defined and operationalized MO by creating two scales. A scale in marketing...

Solution to Organization Overload

...one, more would come in. There’d be so much information coming in that I don’t know which one to do process first. I’d spend most of my time in the office receiving information and responding to them then I do anything outside the office, like go to lunch. Introduction An organization’s solution to its information overload rather it be social system or technical system all depends on its mission or customers (http://www.ptg-global.com). There is no right or wrong answer because not all organizations are the same. Analysis In the military, depending on your Military Occupation Specialty (MOS) the solution goes both ways too. In some MOS you would only need social system. For instance our cooks, they are more in to the social system. They cannot rely on the technical system to help them fulfill their responsibilities. They have to be the ones operating the equipment or tools in order for them to be able to prepare the food and have them ready and served for the Soldiers. In my MOS, an Automated Logistic Supply Specialist, we rely on both social and technical system to help with the information overload. We run a multi class supply warehouse. Our computer system Standard Army Retail Supply System (SARSS) does a lot of processing. It receives updates from our higher headquarters, all customers’ orders and their status and processes them all. Our system receives our customers’ orders and sends them up to our higher...

Business Plan: Herbal Mosquito Repellent

...land of 113 types of mosMoses1, has long been a major victim of the mosMos vectored diseases mentioned above. A wide variety of mosMos deterring devices are in practice, ranging from the most popular d-allethrin based coils, DEET (N, N'-diethyl- n-toluamide) based sprays to electric mats and vaporizers. However, the fact that these devices are far from optimal triggers the need for an efficacious and potent solution to this ever-persisting torment. ActiGreen Bangladesh (AGB), a private limited company, enters the scene by introducing a pioneering spray – Mos-Quit, prepared from NEEM, a divine tree. Traditionally found chemical based killers and repellents are poisons that only kill, or ward off mosMoses for a meager period. In addition, they have been evidenced to have adverse effects on human health. Mos-Quit contains natural compounds that block the internal functioning of hormones in the body of mosMoses. Morals and Ethics

...ethics and morals the key difference is that ethics comes from the social system and can be an external factor, while morals can be derived from the individual and is an internal factor. Ethics can be linked back to the Greek word “ethos” (Diffen, 2016) meaning “character”. And according to Merriam-Webster the full definition of ethos “The distinguishing character, sentiment, moral nature, or guiding beliefs of a person, group or institution”. (Merriam-Webster, 2016) Ethical behavior can be motivated by self-interest, or some intuitive sense of right and wrong and this can stem from our social system which I briefly describe in the first paragraph is an external factor. And consequently there is no clear-cut blueprint of ethics that you can use to project your business’ reputation and well-being of your employees and customers (Small Business, 2016) With my ethics project I’m writing about having a medical marijuana business and an example that could be used is that a lot of people still don’t agree with marijuana and still see it as an illicit drug but my employees and customers would view it differently. There are some grey areas between ethics and morals “A person strictly following ethical principles may not have any morals at all....

The reaquired attire for everyone working in the physical therapy unit is a blue smock and matching slacks. Chesea received information about the required attire. While in school, she enjoyed buying clothes in vintage shops and accessorizing with wild-print handbags and lots of jewelry to achieve her own individual look. Needless to say, Chelsea found the required smock and slacks pretty dull clothing. After purchasing the required clothes, she began to think about how she could "jazz up" the outfit. Principles of Management

...MGT301: Principles of Management 2012 The organization which I worked for and am going to focus on is the United States Army Reserve Component Transition Branch. This organization assists Active Duty Soldiers in weighing their options after their initial commitment. “Explore your options and incentives available in the Army National Guard or U. S. Army Reserve.” (USAR 2012) I will discuss how they use strategy to “sell” the United States Army Reserve (USAR). “Managers exist in every business. In fact, managers do the same types of tasks in all businesses. Whether a person manages a hair salon or a factory, the manager’s job consists of similar tasks. Planning, organizing, leading and controlling all serve an important part in achieving management’s vision. Each component is important and one cannot function well without the others.” (USA, 2012) Planning: “Planning enables managers to align resources (labor, input, technology) with company goals and objectives (output, profit). “ (Principles of Management 2012) The first component of managing is planning. A manager must determine what the organizations goals are and how to achieve those goals. Much of this information will come directly from the vision and mission statement for the company. Setting objectives for the goal and following up on the execution of the plan are two critical components of the planning function.” (Reserve, 2012) In the Reserve Component Transition Branch, planning is the essential part of the...

Supply Chain Managment

...Army Recruiting – Supplying our Nation with Peace Keepers Russell Davidson University of Phoenix MGT 554 Operations Management Kraig Rushing April 17, 2006 Army Recruiting – Supplying our Nation with Peace Keepers One of the oldest and proudest organizations in our nation’s history has been the United States Army. The ever-present guardians of the nation’s liberties and freedoms, the Army has always been there when called upon whether in times of war or peace. This protection our nation is only possible because of those who volunteer to serve. The military continually relies on a constant supply of new personnel to maintain their ability to protect and defend our nation. However, finding those willing to serve and those who are qualified to serve is probably the most difficult task each branch of the military faces. As with any company or organization, the United States Army continually seeks new and brighter applicants who are willing to serve. These applicants make up the individual product produced and supplied to the nation thus ensuring the nations security and freedoms. Sure there are those who are eager to serve but to ensure the Army maintains the required troop strength there must be a system in place to help bring additional personnel into the service and to evaluate the applicant (product) to ensure they meet the minimum standards of the Army. That system is recruiting. Probably the hardest but one of the most rewarding jobs, recruiting helps the Army...
