Expressing an opinion of mine, I loved Moonstruck. It sticks with it’s own genre as a contemporary American-Italian romantic comedy. I feel like Moonstruck offers a special element that separate itself from the other American romantic comedies. For instance, the movie tells the importance of family involvement in the character’s love affair. It could be something that degrades the level of the romance between Loretta and Ronny but instead, it makes the story even meaningful and warm. Moonstruck fits the criteria for genre to be watched on thanksgiving or Christmas. Furthermore, I find it interesting that the giant moon pulls out all the important characters in the movie together for a metaphorical reason. Moreover, the movie offers a variety amount of discourse about Italian-American cultures alongside with what the Professor mentioned about “strictly-heterosexual” relationships that are being emphasized among characters (including the idea of making the male characters having masculinized jobs (Ronny and his job as a baker also Cosmo as a plumber, and on the other side, Rosie as a housewife who cooks the whole time and definitely Loretta cooks for Ronny when she visits him for the first
