MOTIVATION

DEFINITION

One of the most important factors that lead one to their goals is the drive. This drive is known as motivation. It is a zest and determination with a kind of excitement that leads one to persevere to reach greater heights, in no matter what avenue of their life; be it – personal or professional. The drive may come from an internal or external source. The individual determines this.
The factors that motivate an individual keep changing as one climbs the ladder of age and maturity. And also, achievement of one goal sets the ball rolling for another one to be achieved. Thus, to be motivated is a constant need. There are times when one faces a period of de-motivation and everything seems bleak. It is then that they need to find what would motivate them back into action.
For every individual there is a variable driving force. In fact, it is not just a single factor, but a combination of factors that lead people to achieve their goals. The fact is that with routine monotony steps in and then everything seems like stagnant waters. It feels like there is nothing new.
Breaking this cycle of monotony has helped many bounce back with enthusiasm. This is why human resource managers create a training calendar, which will take away employees from the routine they are stuck to, as well as enhance their skills in various areas.
Others pursue hobbies during the weekend, thus giving them something to look forward to, as each week comes to a close. There are people who redefine their goals and ambitions from time to time in order to fill them with newer levels of enthusiasm to achieve greater feats. One needs to take stalk every now and then and find the motivator required to carry them through.

MOTIVATION AT WORK PLACE
Many people do not actually realize this, but the fact is that most human beings spend a maximum number of waking hours at the workplace. This is one place that gives the means for survival in the form of monetary returns. And in spite of this, there are various situations and circumstances that occur at the workplace that lead one downhill – down the path of de-motivation.
While there are managers to ensure staff motivation, it is vital for one to also ensure that they experience motivation at the workplace.
This can be done by following the various methods listed here.

. Sometimes over ambition can lead to frustrations and so ambitions should be kept in check and within real achievable targets

. Be aware of the journey towards the destination. Do not be afraid to admit that guidance is required in certain areas

. Gain knowledge and experience and upgrade skills in order to achieve higher targets

. Maintain cordial relations at the office, avoiding the blending of personal and professional

. Go beyond limits. Challenging oneself can work wonders in boosting one’s morale

. Take a short five to seven minutes break every forty-five minutes – take a walk, play with a stress ball, have a glass or two of water. These are recommended to even maintain good working health and to avoid daily burn out

. Pursue a hobby. This gives something to look forward to beyond the routine working hours

MOTIVATION METHODS FOR STUDENTS
Students need motivations s much as a working person or any typical adult. Students face pressures in terms of studies and education often enough. Students need regular motivation to be high on morale and to have good, all-rounded performances. Students have their own stresses and to deal with those student-related stresses or issues, the best tool would definitely be Motivation. Motivation in general, acts as a booster- A booster of Morale, A booster of performance, a booster of sharpening skills and a booster in the whole sense of the word as well.
Motivation methods for students are plenty. To suggest one of the most effective methods of motivating students, it is that of having a motivation workshop/session in the school. When a school holds an event that has motivational speakers address the students and have workshops or sessions that inculcate motivation in students of the school, it is beneficial. It helps the students get encourages and increases their morale in ways that are hugely effective. The session or workshop must involve personalized elements of motivation as well; wherein each student is communicated to individually at some part of the motivation session/workshop. This will bring about an equitable motivation to each student, making him or her feel personally motivated as well as a participant in an over-all –group motivation programme. This is good in two ways: One, because the student feels like he/she is with his/her class (grade) and is experiencing a training or learning together with his/her fellow-class-mates and the other is the motivation that the student undergoes individually and feels special because of the time allotted to motivate each student separately in that session.
Besides this traditional and responsive method of motivation to students, there are other methods of regular updating on motivation for students. Online websites are a great source of information, and so it is no surprise that a person’s kitty of knowledge can be increased by information on websites. For a parent, going online to websites such as this will provide a platform for knowledge to inculcate in their kid/kids. Moreover, books can be a wonderful source of motivation to children. Even non-motivation books, like books of Enid Blyton, the most successful children’s book writer of all times are a good energy inducer to children, as the books of Enid Bltyon are a greatly creative read and help in developing a child’s mind and imagination as well.

TYPES OF MOTIVATION
1. AFFILIATION MOTIVATION
This is a strong desire to associate with different kinds of people in social matters. Those in this group are increasingly more productive and most especially when they are giving pat at the back in recognition of their favorable behavior and co-operation

2. COMPETENCE MOTIVATION
This implies strong desire to be a guru or professional on a particular course of action. This enhances a qualitative result because of its repetitive in nature and experience. As a skillful person, you are motivated to solve problems even as new obstacles bring out your creativity.
3. ACHIEVEMENT MOTIVATION
This is feeling of strong desire to follow an identified course of action with the aim of reaching a particular target. Those with achievement motivation craze (crave) to derive more achievement and move towards the apex of success. They do not really have a reward motive but the joy of achievement.
4. FEAR MOTIVATION
Here, someone is compelled by fear known or unknown to act contrary to his original intension. The task becomes achievable almost immediately. It is considered good only in the short run.
5. INCENTIVE MOTIVATION
Individuals here are particularly motivated by the attendance reward for the achievement of the task at hand. Seeing the waiting rewards energies people to put in extra effort and speed towards the actualization.
6. ATTITUDE MOTIVATION
This implies the way every individual behave, perceive, react or think about life or issues. It can be described as a self confidence or I know it all behavior to life. It signifies the way they perceive the future and their reaction regarding the past occurrences.
7. POWER MOTIVATION
This is the desire to impact people positively. It is crave to touch the life of many and possibly create a record. It also propels the willingness to take some calculated risks to make the desired impact.

HOW TO GET MOTIVATED
There are always some milestones which let you know how much distance have you covered and how further you have to go. Similarly, there are some ways to get to your target. Motivation is one of such tips which lead you towards success. A lot has been said and done about improving the motivation level of human beings but yet there is a lot to be done because human nature is the most complexed one and you can never predict for sure anything about it.

However, some things can surely be suggested if you want to improve your motivation level.

1. Develop a habit of setting the targets for you. These goals have to be the realistic ones. You will be de-motivated if you will not be able to get to the UNREALISTIC goals which is the least wanted.
2. Conviction is the essence of success. You need to try your best to compete whatever you once begin. This will boost your motivation level.
3. You need to develop a healthy company of people of your interests. You must have heard the saying “A man is known by the company he keeps”. In the same manner you will be successful if you have good people around you.
4. You will never make progress if you do not develop an attitude of learning. So do work on your behavior.
5. Create a combination of natural abilities and your interests. This will make you move forward.
6. Enlighten yourself with the latest trends of the field that seems interesting to you.
7. The last but not the least, you have o face the failure in order to succeed. It will increase your motivation level more than anything else.

IMPORTANCE OF MOTIVATION

What is the importance of motivation when it comes to your personal life as well as the workplace? Well, unless if you don't have goals go work on and tasks to complete, motivation is quite worthless. Of course, you and I both know that there are always things to do in life. The biggest challenge that many people have is being able to have enough motivation to do the things they know they should be doing. One fact of life is that most of the things that will give us what we want are the things that we want to do the least. That's probably why most people will never really experience the life that they have always wanted. Let's look at what motivation is and its importance in different situations.

Motivation is basically a feeling of movement. When you are motivated, you want to go from doing one thing to another thing. Most of the time, you are going from doing nothing to doing something. This is the main problem when it comes to achieving your goals. You know you need to take a certain action in order to produce a certain result but what you are currently doing is more pleasurable than taking that action. Let's look at different situations and how a lack of action can lead to negative consequences.

Importance of Motivation in the Workplace
When you don't have the motivation to do your work, you will either eventually get fired or you will not likely get promoted and will stay where you are for a long time. If you are the supervisor or the owner, a lack of motivation throughout your company can create a rather unproductive workplace. This will lead to loss of sales, profits, and market share. In this case, it's important to do what it takes to create an environment where people naturally want to do their work. The importance of employee motivation shouldn't be taken lightly here. The company's survival depends on it.

Importance of Motivation in Business
If hate working for someone else and want to start your own business, that is great. However, as most business owners will find, having your own business will depend way more from you. This can be great if you're highly motivated but if you're not, that can be a bad combination. Without anyone on your back telling you to do your work and threatening to fire you if you don't, it's easy to just put things off until later. The worse thing that can happen is that you go out of business and if you have invested a lot of money into the business, it can be a tough situation to go through. Business owners normally work 12 to 16 hour days so unless you really hate working for someone else or you really love the business, you may want to think twice about this option. It's not for everyone.

Importance of Motivation in the Classroom
When you have no motivation to study, it can be hard to get the grades you need to accomplish your educational goals. Most students, believe it or not, are capable of doing very well in school despite what their current grades are showing. Most of the time, it's not the lack of ability to learn the material but the lack to interest and motivation to put in the effort to actually do well. If you are the teacher, it's important that you do what you can to teach the material in a way that will interest the students. Even something as boring as history can be taught in a stimulating way.

There's no question about the importance of motivation and how it plays a part in all areas of our lives. We all have dreams and goals that we want to see become a reality. If you had a never-ending stream of motivation, you can literally do anything. The problem is that most people will never put in the effort that is needed to live an extraordinary life. Why? Because it's easier to do nothing than to do something. Go do something!

OUTCOMES OF GOOD MOTIVATION

The outcome of good motivation is what one sees very obviously and very clearly. As there is a saying- the proof lies in the pudding! Make a good pudding, the proof lies in it; one does not have to say or express anything about it, it is that obvious!
What can be easily be seen as a key outcome, to a good motivation session/class/workshop/literature read online/other sources is the boost of morale that is clear and evident in the individual after a good motivation session. Motivation is an aspect that is so important and is so essential as well. With good motivation, skills can be sharp ended, competition can be face with better confidence and approaches can be not juts sociable but also affable and warm at the same time. The most important thread that holds the former listed qualities that get induced in a person after motivation is a good, strong and enveloping morale boost. A morale boost constitutes, thereby, all of the other qualities that are visible in a person post a good motivation session.
The outcomes of good motivation are also elements like good energy, uplifted spirits, better performance and a healthier outlook towards competition and team efforts are more fruitful as well. These and more are the outcomes that are generally guaranteed with a good motivation session. It is advisable to have updates of motivation; like how when women have a facial, they get a good feel to their skin, with their faces feeling a glow and rejuvenation too; and the effect is long lasting as well. But eventually, when the effects gets dull or when there is need for another scrub and freshening up, those women go back to their spas or salons to get another facial to re-do the exercise to gain the same effective results. It is similar in this case of motivation as well. While the outcomes are enormous and awesome, there is a need to go back for a refresher course after a while. In this competitive, tiring at times and the busy lives we lead, it is so imperative to gain a refreshment by getting doses of motivation, or then to gain a refresher course after a while, when there is a full chance that your mind could be saturated and the effects of the former motivation session gets obsolete or dull, to give it a bright shine, go refresh with motivation afresh!

The importance of motivation is widely known, however, the high drop-out rates in our school and low test scores at our schools suggest that maybe we have all forgotten just how important motivation is. “High motivation and engagement in learning have consistently been linked to reduced dropout rates and increased levels of student success” (Halwah, 2006, p.1). Literature has shown that “student's motivation for learning is generally regarded as one of the most critical determinants, if not the premier determinant, of the success and quality of any learning outcome” (Halwah, 2006, p.3). Therefore, motivation as well as the relationship between motivation and academic achievement need to be studied as well. This study will discuss motivation in details through my personal experience with motivation and the significance it plays in learning. This research offers an insight to the age-old question of how we should get our school children to learn and keep them from dropping out of school. Success in this subject is becoming more challenging in organizational trends because business environment changes quickly and becomes more competitive. Researches on employee motivation especially highlight two types of factors: intrinsic and extrinsic. The purpose of this study it is to find out the effectiveness of intrinsic and extrinsic factors on employee motivation, which one is more effective and compare them according to demographic characteristics of employees. Using descriptive survey design, the sample of the study was 41 employees of an electricity delivery company located in the province of Ağrı, Eastern Anatolia, Turkey. As a result of the study it is found out that both intrinsic and extrinsic factors affect employees while they achieve their tasks. Another result is that intrinsic factors are more motivating than extrinsic factors.
