Employee Portfolio: Motivation Action Plan

In my motivation action plan, I will help determine the motivational strategies that would be appropriate for each of these employees in the Riordan Manufacturing Company. I will do my best to describe the strategies for each employee that best fits them. In my first assessment on Jen, she is content with working for the company but does not want to make a career. She is a very loyal, cooperative and cheerful person who provides good customer service. She is also social and work oriented. When given tasks they are completed but could take longer at times because she can be a little more social than she needs to be. I think implementing some goals with her that will help increase sales, her knowledge. Trying to keep her focused and learning more would be for starters. Giving her some incentives may keep her motivated and could even change her mind to advance within the company. But at the same time keep she focused on sales and service. The theory we chose to motivate her through is Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory of Motivation. As for Eric, he is motivated, ambitious, and accepts authority. When it comes to team work, he is a great team player, caring, trusting and accepts challenges. Eric is a very hard worker and knows how to run things on his own being a manager. There is always room for improvement for anyone. He is always working and should take some time off because he is allowed vacation time but is always working too much. He is very trustworthy and gets the job done right. He gets the team motivated and pushes them to sell with a little incentive. He is trying to be promoted higher into the company and likes his job. He comes up with many good ideas and keeps the team strong. Eric has his way with customer service and being a great team player. He is confident and sets goals for the week and tries his best to meet them. He usually does with no problems. Self determination theory would be best for Eric because of internal satisfaction and what he does as a team player and for the company. Last is Daryl, He has been in the company for less than one year. He is a very hard worker and kind employee. At times he can lose his concentration and tends to slack off. He needs some motivation and pushing to complete certain tasks. But when he knows how to do things, they are completed well and in a timely manner. Daryl may not want to advance within in the company but we could change his mind since this is his first job and he is still learning about the company and ways of business. Giving him an incentive before he loses focus is the best way to keep him working hard. When it comes to leverage for the employees, the skills of the employees need to by improved and work harder to complete tasks that are asked. The company needs to be smarter, more productive and cautions about things. These three employees all have things that can be changed or improved. Each one of them has different characteristics that help with the company and their position. Improving their mistakes and improving their work is always a plus for the company.
