I hope to explain how these types of myths are an important part of our cultures throughout our country and world. Though Barney sometimes appeared to be a bumbling law enforcement officer, it turns out that he was a dutiful saver and a shrewd investor who now owns an interest in a second home on the North Carolina coast as well as some prime real estate in the North Carolina mountains. Barney purchased the mountain property some 31 years ago as joint tenants with a right of survivorship with his old friends Andy, Floyd, and Howard. All of the friends have passed away, and Barney has not been back to the property in more than 20 years. Andy had apparently indicated in his will that he was leaving his interest in the property to his son Opie, and, a few years back, Opie took out a personal loan using his alleged interest in the property as collateral. When Opie defaulted on the loan last month, the lender initiated a legal action to foreclose on the property. There are many different variations and characteristics of a line. When it came time for me to take this course I was excited to broaden my knowledge on this war. I always knew that we (Americans) preserved our history very well. On a trip to Washington D.C., I was enlighten when I was able to see George Washington’s’ home, and Abraham Lincoln’s Coat and so much more. But when I began this assignment and started reading the letters from the soldiers of the Civil War in the After-Actions-Reports, I gained a true sense of what those men were going through on those battlefields. I found out that during the Civil War, officers were required to send in reports on their status’s and events. I decided to read Luetinet Colonel Robert Anderson’s official report. Lt. Col Robert Anderson was a Federal officer based near Sharpsburg. The letter I read was dated September 22, 1862, which was the same day Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. I had originally planned to visit the National Museum of Art and History in Washington D.C., but I found myself in Los Angeles due to the birth of my Grandson. I attended the museum by myself. The Getty Museum was originally started in 1954 in J. Paul Getty’s home in Pacific Palisades. After Getty’s death, the Getty Trust took over the museum. The collection eventually outgrew the site and the Getty Center was built in the Santa Monica Mountains above interstate 405. After inputting the museum’s address I into my phone, Google Maps routed me through the Brentwood area of Los Angeles. The area seems very affluent as I passed several large homes with private gates. I followed the directions and eventually arrived at the Getty Center parking garage. There is a tram that runs from the parking garage to the museum. The tram was very clean and had a very modern feel. The tram ride is very scenic and the views of Los Angeles are incredible as you climb the mountain towards the museum. His work, “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” highlighted Hemmingway’s views on “life-in-death” more than any of his other works; though, almost all his works are concerned with departing material reality in some way. Some literary critics state that “The Snows of Kilimanjaro” was a “magnificent failure” because it lacked “dramatic force” (Evans, 601). Others do not believe that the story’s material action and symbolism are properly matched (Evans, 601). He has been sent to serve under Colonel Munro, the commander of Fort William Henry. Heyward has also been given the assignment of escorting the colonel’s two daughters, Cora and Alice, to the fort to join their father. He is a family friend, and in love with Cora, and proposes to her before they leave. She does not give him an answer. Major Heyward, the two women, and a troop of British soldiers march through the rugged countryside for the fort. They are led by a single guide, Magua, a warrior of the Huron tribe. Unexpectedly, Magua leads the party into an ambush, where all are killed except Heyward and the women. The fight, however, is interrupted by the arrival of Chingachgook and his sons, who kill the enemy warriors, but Magua escape. In eastern Congo, The Virunga National Park is home to these gorillas. The film begins with the history of Congo. In 1885 millions of citizens where killed. A statement that stood out to me was “a black man is like an animal to me”. In 1994 the civil war broke out where the rebel group was able to profit from minerals. In 2003 a peace agreement was signed and in 2006 they had their first democratic election. In 2010, oil was discovered and by 2012 instability returned back for the Congo people. The filmed featured the rangers fighting for the Virunga National park because Soco International began exploring for oil. What is interesting about this film is that the Congo government welcomed Soco International singing chants and praises as they arrive. Other residents, also supported Soco International because they were bribed with money. On the other hand, these fellow rangers devoted their life to the national park.
