24 Hour Party People, named after the Happy Mondays song of the same name, tells the story of Manchester’s popular music scene from the late seventies to the early nineties. It begins with the punk rock era and moves on to the “Madchester” scene (a music scene in Manchester out of which emerged a style of music that combined alternative rock, psychedelic rock, and dance music) which started in the eighties and then declined in the early nineties, and lastly the film moves to the birth of rave music in the nineties. The film centers on Tony Wilson(who consistently breaks the fourth wall by narrating the film to the audience), played by Steve Coogan, who gives a great performance, and the real Tony Wilson even has a brief appearance as a TV director. The real life Tony Wilson was a television personality, radio presenter, founder and manager of The Hacienda nightclub, and one of the co-founders of the record label Factory Records.
Wilson and his friends attend the first Sex Pistols concert in Manchester, a show that would inspire much of the crowd to become musicians. This included Wilson and his friends, who were inspired to create Factory Records, a record label that would bring Manchester’s music to the world. It became one of the most important labels in Rock music but also one of the least financially successful. Wilson genuinely loved the new style of music and was able to help out doomed bands by signing them to his record label. Interestingly, Wilson gave artists full control over their music, unusual for record producers, and Wilson never seemed to care about money. Notable bands that belonged to the label include Happy Mondays, Durutti Column, A Certain Ratio and Joy Division which would eventually become New Order(the band that wrote the hit song, Blue Monday) after the lead singer’s suicide. The company soon opens their nightclub, The Hacienda, which is associated with being the birthplace of Rave music. The club was primarily supported by New Order’s record sales (meaning the band profited little from their success) but suffered through financial troubles and security failures along with heavy drug use among the guests. The club managed to survive for fifteen years, but ultimately closed in 1997 due to its problems. The film then continues to follow Wilson through his and the company’s financial problems, and the growing rave culture. The film is entertaining, funny, and interesting, especially if you’re a fan of the music. Even if you don’t know bands like New Order and A Certain Ratio you’ll still be able to find the movie entertaining. Besides many of the actors looking absolutely nothing like their real life counterparts(Ian Curtis, for example),The film is quite historically accurate, it even captures the spirit of the times. Much of what you would think is exaggerated in the film is actually fairly understated and the portrayal of drug use is quite conservative compared to real life. However, even though the film presents real events it also adds in myths, rumors, and the writer’s imagination for comedic effect and entertainment value, but most of the story is true to the events that occurred.

...Theater Industry: A Constant Evolution of Entertainment Matthew Richards BU224 Microeconomics Professor Biasca 29April2014 Introduction The lights go down. The screen illuminates. And the theatre comes alive. There's nothing quite like the feeling of watching a movie on the giant silver screen. But how has the entertainment industry continued to stay profitable despite changes in technology and attendance. The demand for entertainment will always be there. Creating a unique entertainment experience as well as a pleasurable one is now the focus of many theaters. Brief History North America 1905. Gathered outside the store front there is a group of people staring inside. This was the scene for the first type of indoor exhibition known as a movie theater. For the cost of a nickel you too could enjoy the scene. Nickelodeons were the first form of movie theaters here in North America. Their popularity ranged from 1905 until 1915. During these times there were approximately 8,000 nickelodeons. As of June 1, 2013 there are 23, 152 screens in over 1,848 sites. The top four leading companies today are Regal Cinemas, Cinemark, AMC, and Carmike Cinemas making up 78% of the market out of the top 10 companies. ...Waller, and the two artist had many similarities. They both are very entertaining when it comes to there music ,and both are African Americans who sing from there soul. Evaluation: In listening to the smooth, trumpet sounds of Louis Armstrong it made me understand the strong meaning behind his music. Just through his lyrics I could feel the pain and struggle in his music of what he was going through in the song “ Black and Blue”. After listening to his CD, I realized how others could possibly start to like his music, it can touch you in a certain way. Overall I did actually like the album, in the beginning I never would have gave jazz a listen or even thought about actually liking some of the music from it. After taking the time to review and listen to Armstrong’s music I found a new interest. What I would like to know is how did he come up with his powerful lyrics, I would like to know if he was in the moment when he wrote his lyrics. They’re very simple lyrics but also very deep. Organizational Behaviour Personal Learning Paper

...unnecessarily, was gifted a cell phone on her 80th birthday by her grandchildren. To their surprise, she would call them almost every day and speak to them for hours at a stretch. When they finally asked her how she was spending so much money on paying the cell phones usage bill she replied, ‘All my calls are free because this phone has no wires and is not connected to anything!’ Humour is a good note to start the day on. It instils a feeling of happiness at the very beginning of the day which sometimes helps you last throughout the day. I personally am a huge fan of humour, may be not the most humourous of them all but would take up every chance to have a good laugh and take off some of the pressure that’s been piling up! What is Humour? Humour essentially means taking delight in the mirthful and the ludicrous. I have many a times experienced from encounters with some very humourous people, that they are the most popular and desired category of people in a social get together or for that matter even formal gatherings. Their presence in any gathering is highly welcomed, at family get-togethers, religious ceremonies, weddings, birthdays, annual festivals or even corporate parties. They add spice to otherwise stale parties attended by many out of a sense of duty or decorum.  What I personally appreciate about these people is that they always put on a happy countenance and exude cheerfulness. They are capable of affecting others too with a sense of humour and cheerfulness. This...
