...Implementing risk transformation in financial institutions Governance and culture Risk transformation can enable a financial institution to elevate risk management from a functional capability to an enterprise responsibility that permeates the entire organization. When that happens, every business, function, and individual becomes responsible for, accountable for, and capable of recognizing and addressing the risks within their purview. Moreover, risk awareness and appropriate risk-related skills can become an integral component of every individual’s responsibilities at every level. In these ways, risk transformation can enhance the organization’s ability to implement business strategies and achieve goals while addressing risks and complying with evolving regulations. ...Getting the retained organization right: The other half of the shared services battle 2 Transforming the service delivery model for back-office functions such as finance, procurement, human resources (HR), real estate, and information technology (IT) continues to be a top priority for many companies. Such efforts usually aim to achieve several interrelated goals: to increase the function’s strategic contribution to the business, to improve operational efficiency and reduce cost, and to drive global data and process consistency. One widespread strategy for pursuing these goals is to establish a shared services organization (SSO) to execute back-office functional processes on behalf of multiple operating units. However, our experience shows that such efforts often fail to yield their intended benefits. Why? One important reason, in our view, is that many companies tend to focus almost exclusively on the processes to be moved into the SSO while paying little attention to the retained organization’s design and operation. We have seen many companies underestimate both the level of effort to get the retained organization “right” and the extent to which failure to do so may diminish the value of the shared services program. On the other hand, companies that do make the necessary investment in their retained organizations have a greater chance of reaping satisfactory returns on their shared services investment. Therapeutic Listening responses when caring for Mrs Johns Paraphrasing First we will look at three main types of Therapeutic Listening responses that are sometimes used in the field of nursing, the first response we look at it paraphrasing. Paraphrasing is taking what you have heard and repeating it in your own words, paraphrasing is important because it is a way of validating that you have understood accurately what was said and allows the patient to verify their statement (Lippincott Williams and Wilkins, 2008, p. 54). It is more to the point and shorter than the patients initial statement allowing you to focus on the main features of the first statement (Arnold and Boggs, 2011 p. 186). Times when you would use paraphrasing would be just after a patient has told you a statement about feelings or thoughts and you need to confirm what you are hearing is correct, it is important to paraphrase correctly so the patient dose not think you are trying to change what they have said or think you are putting words in their mouth. Parker is very well written and will have any reader on the edge of their seat throughout the entire book. The accounts of his experiences both as a slave and as a conductor of the Underground Railroad are extremely descriptive and would make any reader feel like they were right there with Mr. Parker feeling his pain, anger, pride, bravery, and even his humor. ...There are several questions that will be addressed from the reading of John 15:1-8. The first question is what does this passage teach about salvation? Jesus is the true vine and the only source of eternal salvation. In one of our texts Mr. Morris states “When the Father purges the vine of the “unclean” Canes; He is ridding it of people whom God will prune”. (Morris, 2012, p. 137) Man is by his own nature dry and barren, but we draw power from God which is new, which does not proceed from ourselves. We are crafted in His image alone. These passages teach us that Jesus is the vine and His disciples are the branches. “The branches derive their life from the vine; the vine produces its fruit through the branches” (Carson, 2012, p. 514). This parable elaborates that Jesus as God’s true vine depicts Him and these attached to Him as branches, which are God’s genuine people.
