My annotated bibliography is coming not too bad. Generally, the program does not really prepare the criminal justice student for the Capstone Project. This course is given at the end of the program for no particular reason. Perhaps, it is a manner of making the student feels that he has accomplished something of great value in his life which could be used to open new doors that lead to more opportunities. However, it may not be the same for every student. The project seems rather more political than educational due to the fact that it allows the student limited freedom in terms of choosing a topic and the lack of preparedness. Unfortunately, I do not have enough references to either start the annotated bibliography or add onto

Annotated Reflection

...Before starting the annotated bibliography, I was very confused because the prompt had stated that I had to construct an annotated bibliography that was two to three pages. It was shocking to me since it sounded like an extremely difficult task compared to the other papers I wrote. Luckily, that was just a mistake and the prompt actually required a paragraph summarizing each secondary source. With that in mind as well as the example summary, I was able to complete the annotated bibliography on time. Similar to the other papers, I had to question the rhetorical situation first. Like always, the readers are my professors, meaning that I did not need to elaborate too much on the primary sources. I also considered the genre of the story I had...

...Annotated Bibliography for Texting and Driving Jacqueline Baldwin Devry University Annotated Bibliography for Just about everyone has done it, that one quick text message to a friend or family member while you’re behind the wheel to let them know you’re running a little late. Do you know the risk of your one “quick” text message? You take your eyes off the road for a quick second and the moment you look up your life flashes before your very eyes. Was it worth it? According to Federal Communications Commissions reported “The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that in 2010 driver distraction was the cause of 18 percent of all fatal crashes – with 3,092 people killed – and crashes resulting in an injury – with 416,000 people wounded.” Commission, F. ...My research process was rather complex. In looking back to week two, I had several topics of interest. The selections included how women are treated in different cultures, sustainable living, hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking” and single-sex education. All of these subjects are significant and have an impact on society. I probably spent 5-10 hours on each area, researching and flushing out the questions and issues. I decided upon single-sex education, as it seemed a topic I could focus on and move forward with. I then did probably another 2-4 hours of research on this specific topic and wanted to see what information and data was available. That led to the challenge of deciding which direction to go with writing the paper, and that led to figuring out the argumentative questions and thesis. I felt there was a significant amount of starting and stopping on the paper, which I found to be testing my patience. I had 4 other classes this term and work 2 jobs. I also have a family of 6, so I needed to figure out a way to balance all these things. This is one thing that I grew from, as I focused and kept a steady pace. I am almost through the term, and have all A's (unless something catastrophic happens to change things this next week). I learned a good bit on all of the topics mentioned above, and have refocused some of my thoughts and commitments to be back in alignment with my life as a whole. Sustainable living, eating healthy, having a holistic approach to life...

...Research Prospectus and Annotated Bibliography A prospectus is a summary of a proposed research project. The purpose of writing a short prospectus is to help you get a sense of your project and hopefully gain a starting point for your work. How to proceed? Start by reading and taking notes on 2-4 reference articles, review articles, or key research articles. You will most likely be using a search engine or online database. This initial phase is meant to familiarize yourself with America in the 1920s. As you read more and more, you will hopefully find a particular subject or topic that you think is worth writing about. Again, this is not only a research paper, but it is a synthesis work in which you must take elements from the time period and connect them to the novel. ...Annotated Bibliography of Sources Explanation Antuan D Lyles Jr. Gen/200 March 11, 2012 Dick Eacott Annotated Bibliography of Sources Explanation I begin by transforming my life from being a United States Marine and beginning a journey as a civilian college student. Maintaining the values I was taught and hard working ethics that have been instilled in me as I developed into a man. Honor, Courage and Commitment have been the driving force of my life. Believing in myself and having the motivation to continue to better my life are all important and a major part of my personal responsibilities. The honor that comes along with having been a Marine and serving my country allows me to have the realization that if I work hard at all things I will become successful. The challenges I face which I feel is managing my time and keeping the fire alive to be able to get my degree as soon as possible. I served in the military for 8 years. This time spent I was groomed to be a self-reliable. It made me able to keep focused on bettering my craft and preparing myself to get ready for more responsibilities by getting promoted to higher ranks. That prior experience I hope to keep going inside me as I continue to take harder classes and more attention to detail is required. This challenge is not as physically demanding as the military was to me but probably just as mentally demanding. College is not a sprint it is a marathon and the end result will be me succeeding and...

Reading Response

...Reading Response Essay At the beginning of the semester when the reading responses were assigned, I really did not know what to expect or how to do any of them. As the semester went on, I slowly figured out how to improve my work on these reading responses. Some of the responses were pointless I thought but others were helpful. No matter how many reading response assignments we had on quotes and citations, I never one hundred percent understood how to do them until I kept on putting them into my work as the semester went on. Those assignments helped me gain a better understanding on how to use quotes and when to use them. This will come handy in classes in the future. The reading responses that aimed towards bibliographies helped tremendously. It allowed me to practice my work so that I knew how to do it correctly when writing papers and not have to look it up or use a special website to help me every time. I never did quite understand why we had to do annotated bibliographies though because personally I don’t know what the purpose of the annotated part is. When the rest of the reading responses were cancelled for the semester, I was very happy. After doing a few of these responses, I just thought to myself that they were just for some extra grades or ‘busy work’. Trying to complete reading responses and a writing project was sometimes difficult but also possible. I would suggest not doing reading responses unless you do them at the beginning of the semester...
