When we begin college, we don’t know which career path to choose. When I began my SLS class in my first semester at Palm Beach State College, I clearly found what career path I was going to pursue. In gratitude to the information provided from the Career Center Orientation and the O*Net Internet Profiler, I was able to do research for the career that I felt comfortable to pursue; furthermore, my career choice resulted to aim to become a Microbiologist, the O*Net helped me make it easier to find my career choice, and I was able to take planning into action. Initially, my research for a career choice influenced my decision to become a Microbiologist. My goals for becoming a Microbiologist are quite broad; however, for now I need to begin to aim for my smaller branch goals. For example, obtaining my AA degree first and taking all the AA courses that may apply to Microbiology such as, physics, and mathematics. I chose on setting my career in Microbiology because what interests me about it is all the science courses I will have to take, such as biology and chemistry. …show more content…
When I finished the O*Net Internet Profiler, my results were quite accurate to help match my career choice. The highest interest result was “Investigative” with a score of 37, which means that I like to work with ideas and search for facts. Astonishingly, I scored 15 on Realistic, Artistic, and Social; therefore, I can relate to these interest results because I also like a workplace I don’t work with that many people, get creative with my work, and communicate my ideas with others. I believe that the O*Net can help other students just like it help me figure out what type of career I was looking for, that best matched

My Career Research Paper

...I am not born in a family of doctors, there has been no personal tragedy at my end or a defining moment that made me choose this career path for myself. Yet, I want to pursue medicine and be a doctor. Yes, at times I have seen people close to me fall seriously ill, but then thank God for doctors, they never gave up and pulled them back to life. As a young school kid, one of my teachers dismissed me as a student with little hope of doing well. Though it was a trying time for me, I was certain of not giving up and put in my best to win over the odds. In 8th grade, I won honor roll awards and was a student aid for my social studies teacher. I put in lots of hard work and did not give up when it got tough. Being a doctor too, is a lot of hard...

My Career Research Paper

...I have devoted my middle school and high school years to achieve one goal. After I have made the decision, I never changed my mind. I researched and tried to become a person filled with integrity in order to achieve that goal and also achieved high grades in my courses at school and learned extracurricular activities that helped me practice having precise hands. I accepted harsh discipline at home and at school to try to improve as a human being who cared about others prior to helping others, especially concerning their lives. My dream is to become a cardiothoracic surgeon. I first would like to major in neuroscience, which I felt very connected to after reading a book by Eric Kendall, “In Search of Memory” and “Brain Science Adventures in...

...Reviewers: For my major, I am taking many science classes and for that reason, most of the writing I have done in previous classes has been lab reports. I also have not had an English class since my senior year of high school, so I have not had to write many papers since then. In these previous English classes, most of the writing has been research papers. Comparing this project to previous projects in other English classes, I have had much more flexibility in the topic to write about and I feel that in this class, the project topic is much more applicable to me and my interests, being that it was about my future career. Previously, I did not have much knowledge on different citation systems, how to correctly cite, and for example,...

Academic Success

...integrity. Your personal learning style will help you not only in school but in your career and in your life. With so many resources available to students you are sure to succeed at anything you put your mind to. Proper education and learning the core fundamentals of our major is very important, but without learning about how we learn as individuals and exposing ourselves to all of the services the university has to offer we may not be as successful as we can be. Beginning my educational journey at the University of Phoenix and taking GEN200 has helped me refresh my learning abilities, learn some new critical thinking skills and has helped me in taking the beginning steps to achieve success in my education and eventually in my career. Setting long and short term goals is the key to academic success. Creating realistic long term goals such as graduating college gives us something to work towards and creates the ultimate goal. Setting short term goals such as finishing a paper early, getting all of the reading for a class done or getting an A in a class brings us one step closer to achieving the ultimate goal. Short term goals will always help bring us to our long term goal without it becoming overwhelming and working toward that goal one step at a time. One way to help achieve a short term goal of succeeding academically is the writing process. Getting your thoughts on paper, completing research, working on a thesis and outline is a great way to get organized and have a solid...

What Is Research

...What is Research Katrina Rubio MHA614: Policy Formation and Leadership in Health Organizations Dr. Chanda Holsey May 21, 2012 Introduction Writing papers for school or proposals for your job means you have to look up information about whatever it is you are writing about, this is called research. Research is defined as the collecting of information about a particular subject (Research, 2012). You can’t write any papers properly without conducting some sort of research on the subject and the supporting evidence. What does Research mean to me? According to Tutt (2008), “Research could mean different things to different people and how they conduct the research could also be different.” Finding the ways to conduct the research and identifying exactly what to look for differs from person to person. Research is a powerful tool that will enable the one conducting the research to gain knowledge on the subject and be able to speak about it with great insight. To me, research is very important for anything, not just writing papers but looking up information on anything you may be interested in. When I was pregnant, I researched every single thing I could think of and that helped out a lot to be more informed about what was going on with me and my unborn baby. At every doctor’s appointment I was well educated and was able to ask my doctor really important questions if something didn’t seem right or if I just needed more information. Not only did I use research when I...

It changed everything I thought I knew about my career choice. The careers I researched were Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, Database Administrator, and Ethical Hacker. The career of my own personal choice was a Diagnostic medical sonographer. Gathering Research Data Paper

...Gathering Research Data Paper Hayley Lacy CJA/334 April 11, 2016 Rhonda Grant Gathering Research Data Paper     Police officers are viewed by the masses of Americans that they are sworn to protect as the men and women in blue. They have sworn to protect the innocent and keep them from harm’s way and in turn do much more than that for their community. It takes an extraordinaire person to be a police officer. They are someone who is willing to dedicate their lives, health and safety in order to protect those who depend on them. In this paper we will attempt to address and research an interest that has been voiced concerning police officers and their jobs. In this paper we will state the purpose behind our proposed research. We will inform you of the interview structure we will use and we will inform you as to some of the questions that we would ask. We will give distinct advantages of a qualitative data-gathering strategy, such as participant observation, over more qualitative approaches. We will inform you when conducting survey research the importance of informed consent and confidentiality. It is a common conception that police officers choose their particular career path simply because they are inheriting a family member’s desire. They choose to be an officer because their father or their mother or a relative was an officer. It is a common conception that officers are not chosen they are inherited and expected to be from family. This area of interest is something...

Many Many Sops

...collection of lots of sops of lots of seniors. Browse. According to whacko. (Addressed to our batch) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As for SOPs, don't worry too much. All of you have good writing skills. Anyway, my advice on this matter is: [1] Have a look at some SOPs *now* or early next SEM. [2] When it's time to write your own SOP, do it *fully* by yourself. Do not look at anybody else's SOP. [3] Having made version 1.0 of your SOP, *now* take a look at as many SOPs as you can of guys in your area. Borrow points from then which you think are good. [4] Your SOP does not have to be too big. We at IITB tend to write long SOPs (1.5 to 2 pages) whereas IITM guys (who get better schools!)Usually write 0.75 page (max. 1 page). Basically, their SOPs are much more direct and to-the-point than ours. [5] REMEMBER THAT A SOP *MUST* BE ORIGINAL. Statement of Purpose I am applying to Stanford University for admission to the Ph.D. program in Computer Science. I am interested in Theoretical Computer Science, particularly in the Design and Analysis of Approximation Algorithms, Combinatory and Complexity Theory. My interest in Mathematics goes back to the time I was at school. This interest has only grown through my years in school and high school, as I have learnt more and more about the subject. Having represented India at the International Mathematical Olympiads on two occasions, I have been exposed to elements of Discrete Mathematics, particularly...
