Motherhood is one of greatest gifts from God. A baby can change your life completely in many ways. Becoming a mother is a thrilling, life-long commitment and a learning experience. I know it, because it happened to me. My daughter’s name is Brianna; she is the being that has influenced my life the most. Sine the moment I became pregnant I felt something change in me. I became a understandable, cautious, and more mature person. I was now aware that it wasn’t just me in this world. I realized that there was a being that depended on me.
June 26th 2006 a hot, sunny Monday morning this was the day where my life would change completely, and I would finally meet the most important person in my life. I was feeling sharp pains in my expanded belly. As the morning went on I was feeling, like he pains came more often. I showered to see if that would make them go away, but nothing changed. My mother drove me to the hospital as fast as she could; talking to me and making me feel calm, as the pains grew stronger. By the time I arrived at the hospital it was 8:00 A.M. and I could barely stand. The nurses signed me in and I was taken to a room where I was examined by a doctor that revealed I was 5 centimeters dilated. I was surprised; I had 5 more centimeters to go. How could this be possible? I believed my pains were bad I thought I was ready to push. Well I was wrong. But, after 9 hours (5:19 P.M.) I was in labor and in moments the nurse and the doctor were preparing the room to deliver Baby Brianna. This was a moment I knew I would never forget.
When I gave birth to her, it was very difficult for me. At that time my life was filled with many emotions and feelings. I had my sister and my mother that would help me with my baby. But this was not for long since I had to return back home where I belonged. Nights with this new crying baby were draining. This little person crying hysterical without a parental manual that I could read. I thought to myself what would I do? My boyfriend and I were unable to understand this tiny individual for months. I was very tired and depressed but when I saw her smile, my weariness would disappear immediately. I became more patient because I enjoyed the time that I spent with my offspring. I knew that it was important and that she needed me. I changed my mind about life and I was happy because she was present in my life. Everything I do or decide is based on her. I realized that I have to better myself and give her the finest life I can. My child has motivated me to further my education. It is so hard to study and be a good mother but she’s the reason I work hard everyday to get where I want to be in life. I understand that I have to be an educated mother and give her a good education too. Now I appreciate why my mother was always tough on my siblings, and me when it came to school she always wanted us to focus in college and acquire a degree, so we could improve our life. Today that I have a daughter of my own I want to be able to provide for her so she can have all she desires and deserves. I want to be the person she looks up to, her mentor and demonstrate her that she can do anything if she puts her mind to it.

Not Without My Daughter

...Evaluative Argument Essay One of my favorite Genre’s of movies or films that I enjoy very much watching are movies based on real life such as Documentaries and Biographies, and for this specific assignment I chose to write about the film “Not Without my Daughter” which portrays the true story of Betty Mahmoody, played by Sally Field and her daughter Mahtob, played by Sheila Rosenthal, and their brave and heroic escape from Iran and her abusive husband and father Sayed (Moody) Mahmoody, played by Alfred Molina. If the title of this movie hasn’t already given you an idea of what this movie is about then you’re in for a perplexing and frustrating ride of your life. “Not Without my Daughter” made its debut in 1991 during the raid of the US embassy in Iran, which caused a lot of controversy due to the graphic and misrepresentation of the Muslim faith and the Iranian culture, and with that being said I believe it had many flaws. But, before I go any further I am going to take this opportunity and give you a very brief and short summary about the plot of this movie to help you understand what it is I mean about this film being “flawed”. Moody (Molina) was a successful physician specializing in anesthesia who lived with his family in Michigan. One day while he was home with his family he suggested to his wife (Field) that he would like to take a family vacation to Iran so that his family can meet her and their six year old daughter Mahtob (Rosenthal). Despite...

I moved here from Memphis TN which I lived there from age 14 up until about 5 months ago. I was born in Mississippi I am currently working part time as a school bus driver which I have been doing for about the last 12 years. I have been doing this so long because i am very convenient for me being that I am a single mother and I have no family here. Interpersonal Communication

...Recently I had a conversation with my ex-wife about our daughter via the telephone. I had found out that my daughter who is 14 and lives with my ex-wife in Rhode Island had gone out on a date with a 16 year old boy. I found this out on her facebook page. I was unhappy that she would let our daughter do this and that I had to find out this way. I called her and instantly you could tell from the tone of my voice that I was unhappy and I am sure she sensed it right away. I told her that I feel I have no say in my daughters life and how unsafe I thought the situation was. I was a 16 year old boy and I know first hand how many boys that age can be and this is my daughter we are talking about her safety is all that matters to me. However, my ex disagreed with this saying that I did not know the situation or the boy and that I was questioning her judgment. Needless to say we both said some words that were not kind to each other. Communicating with her through the phone is hard I don’t think she can see the concern in my face. She is only hearing the anger in my tone. I want them both to know that I care about my daughter a great deal and maybe they could allow me to have some say in how she is being raised even if they live in Rhode Island. It is a difficult situation for sure and one that I don’t know will ever be better unless I move closer to them. This is a hard task right now as I have had some health issues and also help to take care of my mother. I feel like they think...

Client Intake

...My client is going through a major transition period in her life, leaving a lot of unknowns at this point. Recently the client started the process for divorce with her husband. Most of the assets that were jointly owned, were retained by the ex-husband for which he gave her a relatively small cash buyout for those. Included assets retained by the ex-husband were the house for which they owned together for 17 years (valued around $220,000), a vehicle (valued around $6,000), and a mutual life insurance policy. The value that the client was given for her share of those assets has been mostly used up to cover the deficit she has been working at for the last three years since the divorce. The client currently has one daughter in college, for which she is assisting in paying off her student loan of ______ from last year, and hopes to continue to assist with a small amount of money given each month to her. Additionally, she has another daughter who will be beginning college in the Fall of 2016 for which she hopes to assist similarly. This is a major goal for my client, so something more personal plans that require financial assistance are put on hold until her daughters are through college. A major focus she has is to try to get through these next five years (get daughters through school, and finalize divorce situation, recover from those debts) and after those five years, begin to plan more for retirement, potentially go back to school, and maybe even purchase a small house...

How to Be a Good Son or Daughter

...people are good sons or daughters even though their parents are bad. A good son or daughter should have certain qualities. Being hard working, sympathetic, and respectful of parents are the most important qualities of a good son or daughter. First of all, a good son or daughter should be a hard working person. A good child usually makes parents happy, and parents are happy when their children do what they are supposed to do. For example, if a child is a student, she is supposed to study hard. If she studies hard, whether she gets good grade or not, her parents are pleased with her. In addition, in Vietnam we value children as good sons or daughters when they do not make their parents worry about them. For instance, a boy after graduation from a university got a job and worked hard. Although he did not get a good—paying job, he earned enough to take care of himself. That boy is a good son because he is self—reliant and his parents don’t have to worry about him. Being hard working has remained the same over time in my culture. Additionally, to be sympathetic is one of the most important qualities of a good child. Parents who have to work hard to feed their children are usually tired after a long day. As a result, they sometimes get angry easily and may overreact with their children very small mistakes. If their children were sympathetic, they would understand and would not hate or think that parents don’t love them. Moreover, if sons or daughters understand their parents’...

Fist of all at the time I received this violation I was living in a very unsafe neighborhood where there was a lot of crime, and as a single woman living staying in this neighborhood I was a target so I decided to get my CCW license to protect me and my family. On July 8, 2010 I was coming from my family house going home when the police were doing a check point in my neighborhood due to the excess shooting. The police officer asked to see my driver license and my weapon was in my purse and it was not concealed properly. Since I had this violation, I have created a very difficult situation for myself & my family. This is also hard on my family because I have become more dependent on help from them. Due to my charges of this case I have tried to apply for various positions only to be denied. I am truly sorry for being irresponsible for my action. I have since then moved from that neighborhood and trying to make a fresh start with my daughters and provide a good home for them. So I am asking that you reconsider my application so I can become gainfully employed to be an example for my daughter and to lessen the stress of my family. Thank you for your time. The Mother of the Child in Question Essay

...The Mother of the Child in Question, written by Doris Lessing, is a short story from 1988. The story is about a social worker, named Stephen Bentley, and his attempt to persuade a Pakistani family to send their youngest daughter to a special school because she is mentally retarded. The family in question is the Khans, an immigrant family consisting of Mr. & Mrs. Khan, their son Hassan, their daughter Shireen and two older daughters whom we do not hear anything specific about in the story. Mrs. Khan, the mother, will not realize that her daughter is not a normal girl, so she does everything she can to convince the social worker, Stephen Bentley, that there is nothing wrong with her daughter. The family lives in a very poorly milieu in England. It is described as a lowly ranked social area where the hallways for example are described as urine smelling. The buildings are described as poor block buildings with many apartments where everything is grey concrete. Generally, these milieus take place in ghettos. Even though the family lives in a poor place, they still keep it clean and presentable with cramped furniture. Steven Bentley, the social worker, is the main character in the story. The story is told through his eyes, thoughts and observations. He has been assigned the case of the Khan family, and has made preparations by phoning Mr. Khan the day before he shows up. As mentioned earlier, he wants to get Shireen into a special school for mentally retarded children. Hassan...

This suggests the fact that a woman has to choose from a bunch of choices. 2. Into which Women’s Film category (Molly Haskell's four categories) would you place Mildred Pierce? Why? (Use the Woman's Film Lecture notes for this question).  Molly Haskell discusses four categories in Women’s Film- sacrifice, affliction, choice, and competition. Mildred Peirce would definitely be considered in the sacrifice category, because the whole movie is about Mildred making sacrifices to satisfy her daughter Velds needs and wants. This was shown right in the beginning when Bert left Mildred because she cared more for her daughters then him. After having...
