Recalling an Experience

On August 12, 2002, I had been rushed to Fairfield Medical Hospital, due to vaginal bleeding in the third trimester of my first pregnancy. I was at my boyfriend's house playing cards. I had this sensation of needing to urinate. I stood up to go to the bathroom, while standing blood starting gushing out of me. My white shorts were covered in blood. I had a massive amount of blood, surrounding me on the floor. The emergency squad was called and in route, to where I was at.
I arrived at the hospital in the early evening hours. I was taken right back to a room, awaiting the Doctor to come and see me. While lying in the hospital bed, the nurses got me hooked up to an IV. While they were starting my meds through the IV, I started seizing. They then started paging the nurse's station, to get more help. When I have seizures, I can still hear. For some reason I do not lose my sense of hearing. I could hear the doctor talking in a calm but firm manner, she said: "if we don't hurry up we are going to lose her and the baby!"(Santino M.D.)
I was rushed back to the operating room to undergo an emergency c-section. The doctor in the mean time had my family called in. She had delivered the baby, but did not expect me to make it. While I was in recovery, I received several units of blood. Not a single relative was allowed to visit me due to my condition. A complete abruption is a scary and disastrous event. Dr. Santino had gone out and spoke to my mother, and told her I had Vaginal Hemorrhaged. She told my mom that it is the most common cause of death of a mother in the United States. It complicates around 4% of all pregnancies. (Santino M.D.) Research has proven that the fetus usually dies within 15-20 minutes. The mother usually dies soon afterward, from either blood loss or the disorders of coagulation. The Brookside Associates Medical Education Division. (2009.)
Recalling this experience is not what I like thinking about, but it is nice to know we have good physicians in this world today. I appreciate the fast reacting, and the care that the team of healthcare professionals, did for me that day. Without the knowledge and skills that they had, I would not be here today. I know it has been ten years ago, but I thank god everyday for allowing me to still be a part of my little girl's life.

Significant Event

...Some are old, young, first time mothers, and even single mothers. Becoming pregnant with my first child was a significant event. I was still a baby trying to prepare for a new baby. Now I would be responsible for another human being. There are many types of psychological perspectives but the two that applies to me becoming pregnant was cognitive and developmental perspectives. First I would like to discuss how cognitive perspective applied with my accepting the fact that I was pregnant. Adapting to the changes in my body and the overall preparation of my new baby being born. How will my baby respond to me? Can I handle this new responsibility? * My second perspective which is developmental applies to my behavior changing, habits, and interest. Now I had to develop parenting skills this meant I would need to change everything I did as a teen girl to become a mature adult. My pregnancy made me realize that the future of my child’s well being was top priority. I had to rethink my goals and prioritize for the sake of my son’s future. I had to finish school, get a job, and give up my social life to focus on my child. Through observational learning I discovered so much helping things. Being pregnant for the first time was like pregnancy for dummies. Observing other mothers ,watching videos, and taking parenting classes taught me everything from how to sleep comfortably, how to maneuver with my new “ big belly”, care for my son, even ways to calm a sick child. My parents shared stories...

This is an action that is happening and no one can find a way to slow it down. It seems that everywhere you look; another teenager is pregnant or knows a friend or pier that is pregnant. In the article “Aggression is a predictor of rapid repeat teen pregnancy” the author talks about how teenagers are not only getting pregnant, they are getting pregnant again. This article is an interviewed related article. There was a study done to show that there are many different factors that affect mothers to have another pregnancy. Some of these factors are aggression behavior, mental health disorders, and emotional past experiences. The articles also prove that mothers who continued to have rapid pregnancies tend to have less confidence. Not only is this article peer reviewed but I choose this article to do more research on. I believe this is a strong subject that should be taken seriously. Doing research on this article to find out more information, it is always important to know the background to the article and learning the methodology helps as well. This helps advance my research to maximize my information intake. Methodology is the overview explaining the gathering of the qualitative and quantitative data and where the data may be found. Community Health Issue: Teenage Pregnancy

...Community Health Issues: Teenage Pregnancy The local Community health issues that will be discussed is teen pregnancy, even though it stems further than just the community. Teen pregnancy has been going on for decades, just in the past few decades we have seen the problem increase, up until around the 1960’s it was appropriate for a 14 year old girl to marry and have kids. Since the decline of unwed teenagers was when everyone decided it was a problem and it has to be fixed. Even though it has been a problem in Florida and in my community there has been a decrease, but even though there is a decrease we as a community will still have to battle to keep the numbers down. According to Paula Stuart” In the past decade, according to the alliance, Polk has ranked among the leading counties in the state for the number of live births to minor girls, those younger than 18 years old (Paula Stuart, 2001).” Teen pregnancy in Florida and in my community began to rise in the 1990’s but stayed at a steady pace, but in 2005 there was a three percent increase. “The pregnancy rate among 15-to-19-year-olds increased 3 percent between 2005 and 2006 -- the first jump since 1990, according to an analysis of the most recent data collected by the federal government and the nation's leading reproductive-health think tank (Washington Post, 2010).” Many people wonder how teen pregnancy has affected the community and how it has affected the community and how have they responded. Preventing Teen Pregnancy

...Adrian Llañez Dr. Susan Cardenas HL S 301V 4 May 2014 Preventing Teen Pregnancy Sexuality is a huge, broad topic. When breaking it all down, one thing stands out to me: teen pregnancy. This topic is one of major debate and draws the attention of several governments worldwide to help prevent a problematic trend. While there are several agencies in the United States designed to educate and attempt to lower the teen pregnancy rate, the United States still maintains one of the highest rates in the world. I believe that while we in the United States try to lower this rate, we are not doing enough to educate and better inform the youth. We need to invest in comprehensive sex education and change the messages were sending teens through the media. I’m from an area where teen pregnancy is a norm. It frightens me knowing that my two younger sisters may become part of a tragic statistic. People blow off teen pregnancy like it is not a big deal, but we need to fix the “solutions” that our government has set out. We have several programs currently available to youth in the United States one of which is sex education. However the media play the most negative role in offsetting the work we as a society perform to help our teens be healthy and not fall into a trap. While sexuality is completely natural and healthy, teens are still not fully aware of some of the consequences that come with teen sex. The first thing I see that needs to be changed is our sex education system. The United...

Blah

...There have been many occasions where women in my family have had life threatening risks while pregnant but luckily they had good doctors to keep things under control and they were able to give birth to their little miracles. When falling pregnant, although short, there is always a list of health risks that can affect not only the mother but the baby as well. For example, when my sister, Ina fell pregnant with her daughter, she went in to have a sonogram and the doctors told her that her daughter’s heart was too large and her daughter would die immediately after giving birth. Multiple doctors informed my sister not to buy anything for her daughter or have a baby shower because she would most likely be planning a funeral instead. Instead of taking the doctor’s advice, Ina went on with her pregnancy as though everything was normal; she kept a positive attitude and refused to believe that was the end of it. On February, 24, 2007 I was there to witness her give birth to a beautiful healthy baby girl weighing 6lbs, 2oz. Today my niece she is 6 years old and healthy and happy as can be. Usually when doctors make a suggestion on what to do while pregnant, people will do as they suggest. Although it isn’t very likely, there are times doctors can be wrong in what advice they decide to give and it is up to the patient to decide if they will take the risk of not following the doctor’s advice. Another example from my family is again with my sister Ina. She found out she was pregnant again...

...Should Abortion be legal? Nearly half of pregnancies among American women are unintended, and about four in ten of these are terminated by abortion. In 1973 Roe V. Wade decision, the supreme Court ruled that women, in consultation with their physician, have a constitutionally protected right to have an abortion in the early stages of pregnancy. Abortion is a very serious and dangerous thing to decide 50% of women who have had abortions report experiencing emotion and psychological problems lasting for months or years. Only 12% women reported having a physical problem with their health among having an abortion like an infection called hemorrhage and uterine perforation. My personal experience having an abortion is when my mom had one in 2000. She said that she was not ready to raise other child at this moment in her life, because she just moved to North Carolina and was looking for a job. She felt no guilt about what she has done she thought it was the right thing to do at this point in her life. Most people would argue that abortion is not only wrong, but it is murder to an innocent child with no fault of its own. The first reason that abortion should be illegal because it is murder! For example, the fetus is a distinct individual therefore its DNA is completely its own while the baby is in the womb the baby will show definite signs of emotion. I think that when a human egg and a human sperm meet, the resulting individual is simply human. The number of American babies killed...

Abortion

...Abortion 1. Who is your audience? What is the name of the person or group for whom you are writing this argument? Why have you chosen this person or group as your target audience? Why will your argument have exigence for your audience? My audience would be to pregnant women. I have chosen my audience to be pregnant women because women who get pregnant are often asked if they know all their options. 2. How open is your audience to your argument? Is it undecided or hostile? Keep in mind that the more hostile your audience is, the more time you will need to spend establishing common ground between you and your audience. My audience would have to be more towards hostile because abortion is a sensitive subject to some people. 3. How will you organize your argument to accommodate your audience’s level of openness to your position? Will your argument have a classical structure? Will it have a Rogerian structure? Will you be presenting your reasons and evidence before directly stating your thesis? Why, based on your knowledge of your audience, will your argument have the organization you will be using? I will give both of the sides of the argument and keep an open mind when presenting both sides. My argument will have a Rogerian structure and my thesis will come after all the evidence is presented. 4. What are your audience's priorities and goals? What are your audience's concerns and fears? What values and beliefs contribute to these priorities, goals, concerns, and fears...

Life of a Teenager

...The Effects of Teenage Relationships Different relationships affect teenagers in various ways. Friends impact teenagers almost the same amount as their parents. Teenagers go to their friends for help or to ask questions that they could not ask their parents about. Most of the time their friends give them good advice but then there is the down side when they put pressure on their friends to do something like to smoke, drink, and do drugs. In most cases they tell their friends how to dress and act when around certain people. Love relationships just make it even harder for a teenager to get a good education. Some start to fail in school because they are hanging out with their boyfriend or girlfriend instead of doing their work. Throughout adolescence, teenagers are positively and negatively impacted by several relationships such as friends, family, and love relationships. Friends have a big influence on teenagers because they can say and do many of things to teenagers who think they were friends. They also start rumors and take their friends girlfriend or boyfriend and have them cheat on their friend. Some go out to drink, smoke, or to do drugs just to have fun but some think of driving home and most teenagers do not even make it to their driveways. Some teenagers who are so depressed about their social problems even think about committing suicide. Most start to hurt others turn into “goth’s” by dressing in all black. Many of depressed people show how they feel by dressing differently...
