My Legacy When I think about a teaching philosophy, the creation of a safe and secure environment for studentts comes to mind. It will be my responsibility and duty as a teacher to make my classroom a place where students can feel good about themselves and thus have the ability to learn to the best of their ability. I want to be remembered by my students and colleagues for having a positive outlook on even the darkest of situations. If students come into my classroom with a sense of hopelessness, I want to know I helped them find some positivity in their lives. There is so much negativity and hardship in our world that being able to rise above that and tackle the adversity head on will be a challenge in itself. The kids will see how to follow through with tasks and that I never give up on goals I have for myself and others. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to know the learners and who they are, what kinds of diversity and cultural background they have, and what they would like to achieve in my classroom. The impact I have on their future can only be seen if I have done my job correctly, by educating them and seeing results. To positively influence my own family and students, I will show them that adults can be understanding, compassionate, and trusting. This will again bring a sense of safety and security to my classroom. The children need stability and I will be one person in their lives that can do that for them by standing by them and doing whatever is needed to give them a successful education. My colleagues and students will remember me as someone who allowed creativity and uniqueness to be part of my teaching strategy. Continuously seeking new ideas to benefit students educationally is something I will do always. Even if I think it may not work, I will always try. I will be an advocate for my students and will not shy away from bringing things to the attention of colleagues and administration even if the conversation is uncomfortable, but will benefit
