Words are the basis of writing. Writing is a specialty, and a skill. It’s one of my favorites to pursue in. The flow of words, structure, and most importantly, the meaning is what makes writing a pleasure to me. The meaning of words can have so many different ways to impact a reader; to write and experience them is influential to me. Growing up I have always had a passion for writing, no matter the kind. What I love most about writing is the many ways a statement can go. Writing can have so many possibilities and to me that is phenomenal. The words that are written, but not spoken, can hold secrets behind the words themselves. However, sometimes writing can be overwhelming. My least favorite thing about writing is the consumption it can have

Malcolm Gladwell Counter Argument

...I consider discussion 3, causes and correlations, my strongest example of writing for two reasons: counter-arguments and passion for helping. After reading Mr. Malcolm Gladwell’s chapter on “The Ethnic Theory of Plane Crashes”, I was given the opportunity to challenge Mr. Gladwell’s theory. I feel I excelled at countering his arguments. My responses were sound and strong. I touched on every point Mr. Gladwell made reference to in his chapter, and successfully countered them with examples of my own. I took the advice my teacher gave, and pretended I was in a podium addressing a group of policy makers. This visualization helped realize this is the chance to save lives (without being over dramatic), In other words I showed passion for the...

Personal Statement: Putting Thoughts To Paper

...Putting Thoughts to Paper For several years in school, I dreaded writing academic papers because I found many of the topics monotonous, provoking little desire in me to work hard. The writing process intimidated me because I was often unaware as to where I should begin a paper and once I did, how I should develop my thoughts in an effective manner. My appreciation of writing, both academically and artistically, did not surface until my sophomore year in high school. When I transferred from public to private school, I realized that my writing skills were not as strongly developed as many of my fellow classmates. This feeling of inadequacy motivated me to seek help from my teachers and peers. By the end of first semester sophomore year, my...

Passion over Pay

...Section 050 Speech Title: This I Believe: Passion over Pay in the Career Field Introduction: Attention Getter: I believe in choosing a job based on my true passion. “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” The above quote is credited to Confucius, the well-known Chinese legend. I believe many of you would have come across the above quote at one time or the other. Many career coaches often cite this quote at will during career counseling to drive home the view that a person’s career decisions should be based on passion and not pay. Like what he said, I believed that if we were passionate enough about doing what we love, the money would come rolling in. Thesis: Choosing a job based on your passion is important because true passion is more valuable than money and no obstacle will stop you from achieving success. Preview/Transition: For example, I believe Main Point/Example #1: Which is better, love or money? Love is the key to happiness. People say having money is what life is about. I don’t believe that. The true happiness is going after what you love. When I was in high school, I always hoped I could get an honored job such as a talented doctor, a famous lawyer or a skillful engineer, so I could make a lot of money and got rich. However, I grew up and became more mature. Now I believe that true passion is more valuable than money. It doesn’t matter what kind of job I will have soon and how much my income is, as long as it should be something...

Essay On My Passion For Learning

...“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow”. I am a strong believer of this quote. Right from my childhood, I was curious about the sciences. Starting from a ‘switch’ to a complex equation everything used to intrigue me. I am intending to take up a career where I can quest for knowledge as a researcher, who can feel the things with his own eyes and own heart, rather than a being a mere professional. In each and every circumstance, I was successful in making my dreams come true and live in them. I am eager to find myself in the same circumstance again by achieving what is called as the most highly appraised dream of mine. This can be reached by Pursuing Masters Degree at your esteemed university. It will not only help me to accomplish my goal, but also augments my knowledge regarding the different aspects of the subject. The school I studied in, Nirmala high school, focused on an all-round education, with strong basics, especially the practical knowledge. That curiosity and passion drove me to choose Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my subjects in Intermediate. With hard work and determination, I cleared the engineering entrance and got a seat in KL University, one of the most reputed universities in my state. I chose Electronics & Communication Engineering as my...

Statement of Purposs

...the questions were answered but at the same time many new questions with more complexity started haunting me. This search for the answers aroused a passion towards Electronics and started exploring the developments and applications in electronics but that did not quench my thirst for knowledge. Then I could understand only a graduate education can offer me a great deal of intellectual and personal satisfaction and challenge. This is the main reason to plan my masters in Europe. The first two years of under graduate education was based on fundamentals of all engineering subjects. The next two years was a detailed study of electronics and communication subjects. Though all the subjects were different in their theories, all the subjects were interlinked in a few aspects. In these four years of graduate education, I gained in-depth understanding of the various techniques involved in problem solving, mainly to cater to the services of the industries. But all the years of my under graduation was totally based on theories and I didn’t encounter any platform for the application of those theories. I have always believed that a subject is understood better when one actually sees an abstract theory being realized by a practical system. So I felt Graduation is the area where I can put my ideas into implementation. As a man who have passion of teaching I have taught students in the age group 7 to 19. I have taught them science and mathematics. Most of these children came from economically...

Severe ADHD In The Classroom

...Dim, flickering room lights, on at odd hours. The sound of powerful taps on a screen. Bleary eyes scanning the screen, rapid fusion of disparate information, brain whirring in a consistent, cyclic process. These actions form the substance of research; the substance of my identity. I was diagnosed with hyperactive and inattentive ADHD as a child, resulting in unfocused daydreaming, mental and physical restlessness, isolation in test rooms and being singled out in classrooms. Severe ADHD was an enormous burden for a child to experience and dare to succeed with, especially when nobody other than my parents, and my cousin Ha, truly understood me. While other children constructed life in coloring books and playgrounds, I used paper, markers, and my imagination to shape North Atlantic Coasts. Spending hours searching up everything from the strength of Typhoon Tip to the event horizon of black holes – books and research became the only devices that could quell the uncontrollable energy inside....

Draftinging Skills Reflection

...in this class my skills have greatly improved and have been reinforced. The drafting process for the profile and research paper assignments have taught me alot about where and how I need to improve my writing abilities. During the profile assignment I had some difficulty expanding on the information I was given during my interview and was just listing off the facts about who I interviewed. I fixed this initial rush job by slowing down and expressing her feelings and experiences in greater detail. If I had more time I might have interviewed my teacher again to get more details to add to my project specifically more on her initial experiences coming to the US. The research paper was probably the most difficult drafting process that I have had yet this semester. While autism was a subject that I had a lot of experience and passion...

Personal Narrative: College Writing

...stronger in some aspects of my academic abilities than others, writing, not being one of those strengths. Due to past high school experiences confidence in my writing abilities dwindled as a result of four years of poor mentoring. Developing a strong passion for the sciences and acquiring an acute fear of any English reading or writing course. My fight with comma confusion and run on sentences stunted my excitement to be enrolled in a purely writing and comprehension focused course. Within the first few weeks we were introduced to an assignment that focused on defining a word or phrase, I chose to define the word “perfection”. Unfortunately, sending myself into a self-loathing downward spiral due to the unknown degree of difficulty of this word. I struggled with the direction I wanted to go with this paper, then ran into the time engulfing task of trying to capture the ideas that I had accumulated in my head into four pages. The job of capturing these ideas and organizing them into a comprehendible paper was no easy feat, battling between my free writing thoughts and my high school English essay rules, this took me 5 days, 4 long nights, and many calls for help to...

Ap English Reflection

...As you begin AP everything will seem overwhelming, and like you have no time for activities other than AP English. You will learn to discover yourself and how to write things about almost any type of literature, among many other things. At the end of the year you’ll go back, and read all your writing that you’ve saved throughout the year, and reflect upon it. So here’s what I’ve learned. I looked at my first piece of writing which was about a song “That’s the way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be” by Carly Simon, and my last work which was based on “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry. My first paper was a summary of the song with some comments in with it. I also did not know how to properly cite my sources and used verse numbers...

Shifting Course

...Looking back on my introspection about my fellow batch mates in high school, I have been in contact with them for the past months and we kept on reminiscing the days on how we would like our future be especially on our career paths. From almost 20 persons that I have in contact with, only two of them was able to graduate from college. Some had dropped out and some are still in college shifting courses just like me. So I decided to make a survey research regarding students in colleges on how passionate they are in the course they took up. I have delimited my research to students of the same course that I am taking to target a specific population and validity. Despite the problem of having many legal management students shifting courses, they take easy courses to graduate on time. As a current student and had been enrolled in legal management course in FEU, questions had bewildered myself if I had took the right path and made a right decision to take this course hence where will this lead me after I graduated from the course? There were instances in my college years that I opted or imagined to shift course for that matter because of the fear of the unknown. I am an irregular 3rd year student and I had witness some of my friends or almost of my friends if I may say had graduated from the courses they took and for my fellow legal management batch mates who if not shifted had graduated from this course but didn’t landed on a good job. The purpose of my research is to know the different...

My Story(an Application Letter)

...create a working object. As I progressed in my school life, my interest in applying this in real life increased. It always fascinated me how even the lack of the smallest organism could tamper the ecosystem just like a spring toy that does not work properly if the spring is slightly bent. After Grade 10, I took up pure sciences- Biology, Physics and Chemistry as well as Mathematics and English. My passion for biology was keenly supported by all my chosen subjects. Chemistry helped me understand the molecular structures while Physics and Mathematics helped me understand the dynamics and statistics that we were provided with. Being an avid reader, has led to the formation of many ideas which I feel can be expressed on gaining more insight. A degree in Biological Sciences will help me reach my dream. Earlier this year, three of my friends and I participated in NTU Science Symposium. We had to write a research paper in any field of science. The four of us love biology and felt that we would be able to express our skills and knowledge through the paper and came up with the topic 'External Factors Affecting Bacterial Growth'. The research paper certainly tested our abilities to work as a team. We had to submit the paper in May and all of us had many other commitments apart from the research paper. Like every group has someone to keep all the interpersonal relations intact, this task was an added responsibility to me. The research paper helped us understand as well as apply many of...

Relation Between Stress and Physical Illness

...Abstract This research looks at the relationship between physical illness and stress. The goal is the show that there is in fact a direct link between stress and physical diseases. This has been done through studies involving rats, monkeys, and even parents of children with cancer. Upon examination of these studies, it becomes apparent that even though differences in characteristics between individuals cause much variability in the link between illness stress, there still proves to be a strong correlation through changes in physiological and behavorial responses to stress which influence susceptibility to disease. Introduction Almost everybody faces some form or variation of stress over their lifetime. Stress is defined as “a state of psychological tension or strain” (Morris, C., & Maisto, A. 2008) resulting from adverse or demanding circumstances. The cause of stress can vary; whether it be from pressures at work or school, commitments to family life and friends, or maybe even financial difficulties. Anytime a person is met with a stressor, any environmental demand that may create stress, rapid changes are sent forward throughout the body. Almost every system in the body is preparing itself to encounter any danger that may be perceived. (Human Diseases and Conditions. n.d.) There are many instances where these stress responses in short-term bursts, or acute stress, can actually be beneficial to a person. Examples include the adrenaline rush one may get when confronted...
