My Passion

When I am dancing I don't think about any problems I have. Dancing might be considered a source of entertainment, however to me dance in not only a form of entertainment it is much more. Dancing to me is an outlet to release stress, it is a form of speaking and letting out my emotions without saying a single word. Dancing is another language I have learned to speak. Dancing is just a conversation between two people and the body and soul. Ever since I can remember I have always loved dancing. I think the reason I love dancing has to do with my mother. She has always told me stories about her pregnancy of me. My mother said that during her pregnancy she would love dancing, she would dance for no reason at all. She would just turn up the stereo and start dancing while cooking and cleaning. She tells me she would go out to parties every weekend until her eighth month her of pregnancy. Even after she gave birth to me we would go out to parties with her friends. I Remember when I was three years old; I attended a party back home in my home country, Mexico. My aunty, who took care of me while my mother worked in the mornings dressed me in a pink taffeta halter top dress and white shoes and took me to Calle Las Peñitas where my mom was waiting for me. I meet with my mom and her friends and we were on our way to the banquet hall. The dance hall was called El Diamiante (The Diamond). El Diamaiante was one of the fanciest banquet halls at the time. The music was great, they had a live group playing. As the night fell more and more people filled the dance floor that was including my mom and me. Whoever took my mom out to dance had to take me as well. The party ended around two in the morning and all that night my mother and I were on the dance floor. By the time the party was over we were exhausted. That night I believe my love for dance grew. By the time I was five, I understood my love for dancing more. I still saw dance as a way of entertaining myself. By the age of five, I was already in the United States and here is where I got inspired by professional dancers. My uncle's wife is a professional dancer and she had her own dancing studio where she taught Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Regional Mexicano (Hispanic dance genres). Her studio was big with mirrored walls and hard wood floors. On one of the walls, there was a painting of a dancing couple surrounded by music notes. On the corner of the studio she had a display of trophies she had won. I remember going to her studio and watching her students become professionals. I even remember mocking their steps and learning the choreographies that were being taught to them. The dancers thought it was cute, but I was not trying to be cute, I was learning those steps, because I wanted to become one of them. I admired the dancers and my aunty's professionalism and dedication to dance. My aunt has been the one that incited me to understand and interpret dance more than entertainment. By the age of ten I had stopped going to the dance studio where my aunt taught her student not because I wanted, but because my aunt was moving to California. When she told me she was moving I was devastated, because that year I was going to become a student myself. I was also sad, because I was not going to be able to continue watching and learning new steps that her students were being taught. But she told me that I didn’t need her to start my dancing career she told me “Tienes el ritmo en la sangre” (You have the rhythm in your blood) and I could continue dancing for myself. Those words “tienes el ritmo en la sangre” encouraged me to view dancing as another crucial part of my life. When my aunt left I had nothing to do in the after school. The only thing I would do was watch music videos and dance shows like Bailando Por Un Sueño (Dancing for a Dream),a Hispanic version of Dancing with the Stars and dancing movies like Dance With Me. I would just sit and admire the dancers and imagine myself dancing with them and competing in the same competitions they were in. I remember saying I want to be like them. So I decided to start dancing for myself. Every day I would wake up and dance for no reason. I would dance while doing my chores. I would come up with my own steps or mock steps I saw on TV. All I wanted to do was dance! By the time I was fifteen, I put my dance steps I learned throughout the years of watching my aunty's students to practice. I was going to have my Quinceañera. There I had to dance a waltz and a surprise dance which was a combination of Quebradita and Cumbia Nortena (Mexican genres). My Quinceañera party was great there I was able to show everyone my love for dance throughout the whole night. One of my favorite parties I been to, has been my cousins wedding. At that event I took over the dance floor. There I released all the stress I have accumulated over time. I was releasing my emotions without saying a single word. I didn’t feel like I was myself. I felt free, I felt like I was a new person. That night I felt the music and my body as one. Now, at the age of eighteen I view dance as a type of art. Dance is my life. Dance makes me feel good inside. It helps me heal my body, mind, and soul. It is what I enjoy and gives me power to do whatever I want to do. Dance is magic, it is a cure to my outside problems. I mainly dance to release stress and problems that I have. It really helps me to release all this bad energy in a productive way. When I dance I find a connection with my body and the music, I feel the adrenaline rush run through my body. When I dance I am transported to a new world, a different dimension where I am free to float. Dancing to me is as natural as breathing. For me, dance is like water. I've always lived with it and I always will. When I hear music, I start to dance. When something good happens, I dance. When I'm angry, I dance. When I'm sad, I dance. Dancing is my way of expressing myself. Dancing is a way for me to fully expose myself without having to speak in public. I love to dance because it makes me feel simply beautiful and because when I move my body to the music, power and joy surge through every cell in me. I dance to have something to love when I feel that nothing loves me. When I dance I feel relaxed. That is why dancing has become a passion of mine. Even though I have not pursed dancing as a career, dancing is still one of my hobbies. Every time I have a chance I dance, I dance until my body aches. Dancing is my passion, which I will continue to purse and enjoy throughout the rest of my life even if it's not professionally.

My Passions in Life

...MY PASSIONS IN LIFE A passion is a strong and barely controllable emotion that will have an impact on you. It can be something that everybody loves, yet there is something about passion that takes great challenge, strength, and risk. My three passions are: reading, friends and family. These passions are very important to me, and I do not know what I would do if I did not have them. Reading stories is a very big passion of mine because I love the information it gives when I read it,especially when it is a lovestory or a forbidden lovestory.Reading is also my life. I read, , I eat, sleep breath , and read. I feel like this passion of mine has guided and helped me through bad habits that other teens my age go through such as doing badly in school, dropping out of school and doing drugs, it’s kept me on the right track in life. The second is my friends who guided me, helped me, and most importantly picked me up when I fall. They are always there for me when I need them to be, and I cannot thank them enough because they support me. All of my friends are role models to me and I look up to them. My friends push me when I cannot and help me to be a better version of myself. My friends have helped me more than they probable know, and because of that I will always be grateful towards them and will always have a passion for them. My most important passion of all is my family, especially my parents. They raised me and made me the way I am and for that I must also thank them. They...

My Passion for Psychology

...A Passion for Helping Others Well where do I begin. Psychology has been my passion for so long. I just love what I get out of it. I love analyzing people by watching the face features and also body language; I can tell when someone is lying or telling the truth. I have the passion for helping people. I come from a family history of addiction and mental health issues. I would love to help my family and treat others with as much concern and care as they were my family. I have always considered psychology as a profession since I was a child and several people told me I was very easy to talk to. I believe that difficult times are only temporary. We just have to address them and know that there are ways around issues or through them. Learning about the mind as much as possible helps eliminate problems because we have solutions to figure out the issue. Why is it that we don't like our image? Why am I depressed? Why does it have to be me? Those are some questions we ask our self-daily and I have an answer. We live in a society where people hurt and they don't know why. The hurt they feel makes them make the wrong decision in life. There are times we all need someone to listen to us. I have even felt this way so this is why I want to get more educated about the minds of others. I am emotionally advanced and intelligent and can pick up what other people feel and go through because I picture myself in their shoes. I just love the idea of going to work every day and doing something I...

My Passion for English

...My Passion for English A close friend of mine suggested University of Phoenix as a good option for me to reach my goal of obtaining an English bachelor’s degree. This was a decision that has impacted my life in only a positive way. Before attending University of Phoenix I was unhappy with my previous schools. Transferring to Phoenix was a new beginning. The first class I completed was like no other I took in the past. I found my course challenging yet interesting, because the curriculum and interactivity with my learning team kept me motivated to complete it. From then on, I competed five classes back to back which has been the most consistent I have been with my courses since high school. So, my choice in attending University of Phoenix is one I am very grateful for. English as a language has become an essential form of communication in today’s society. Whether it is for a job or school, there is a growth of people who use and learn English from various countries. English lessens the barriers we have between cultures by helping people understand and connect with each other. Ever since I could read on my own at the age of three, writing and the arts has always inspired me. I grew up reading many genres of books and going to the library almost every day after school. That made me interested to create my own poems and short stories in a daily journal. To this day, English has captivated, and motivated me to pursue a career where I could use my skills to help other individuals...

Todd

...Todd begins dreaming of future possibilities and ways of expressing himself only to have his realistic expectations crash down on him and diminish his thoughts of potential greatness. Keating sees through Todd’s fear and first makes him yawp, and later makes him say whatever comes to mind. This is the beginning of the change in Todd. “I close my eyes and this image floats beside me The sweaty-toothed madman with a stare that pounds my brains His hands reach out and choke me And all the time he’s mumbling Truth, like a blanket that always leaves your feet cold. You push it, stretch it, it will never be enough Kick it beat it, it will never cover any of us. From the moment we enter crying, to the moment we leave dying, it will just cover your face as you wail and cry and scream.” In this poem, Todd is saying that the madman is passion, but passion (the blanket) is not enough, it leaves you cold and exposed. Through your whole life, passion only is shown on your face when you wail and scream and cry. You need it to a certain extent because as Keating said, “the human race is filled with passion” and also that passion is the reason to stay alive, but just following your...

Unit 3 Passion Research Paper

...Three passions, elementary yet overwhelmingly strong, govern my life: a love of video games, the advances of technology, and a quest for the knowledge that will help advance mankind. These passions, like a wave moves a boat, have moved me to live my life the way I have to this point. A love of video games brings a joy to any hollow hours that may arise in my day. It has already expended many hours of my life and none of those hours have been regretted. A love of video games can be the catalyst in bringing a group of people together--people who have nothing in common with one another can sit down and have fun while playing together in a game. I have spent time on this finally because even the people who can not see each other face to...

Start with Why

...Why Paper #2 In my level 5 story, through recollection of my past experiences, whether it was from my past thoughts of swimming, long drive home, or church experiences, the positive emotions I felt were peace, humility, love, anticipatory, positivity and honor. These emotions are foundational to who I am as a person and shape who I am. These emotions I hold at different levels of who I am. Firstly, within the confines of my passions, I would say that at the base root is love. I love to love others and I love life. That’s the foundation of why I do what I do for anything. I also think that my other passion is peace. I seek peace with others and desire harmony and strength with others and through others. It’s foundational to me and also the reasons why I do what I do. I really desire both peace and love for myself and others because I believe that is why we are created for what we do. Similarly to in “Start With Why”, when it is discussed that people and companies can copy you and do what you do but they cannot emulate what you do exactly because they do not have the reasons why. This is the same in my life where people want to try to seek similar things as me but they aren’t going to do it exactly the way that I do it. For that reason I have been through different experiences and have a passion that is specific to me and who I am. That is not to say that I am better than anyone else, but to suggest that we all go through different experiences. Next are my values and these are...

Salary or Loan

...English 102 Jiadai Wu 09/06/2015 Salary or Loan? Your choice If you've ever told anyone for career advice, you've probably heard some versions of "follow your passion." Young people, in specific, are often said that they should figure out what career to pursue by building their work about whatever they're passionate about. However, in my opinion, it actually leads most students the wrong way in college time. There are too many students choose their major without understanding what jobs it will qualify them for once they graduate. One thing like student loans, after college, if you enter the working world with plenty of school loans to pay off, which may help you realize the importance of having a well-paying job. Likewise, the reason of giving up passion may come from the pressure by surroundings, which is virtually not your obligation. Like this, people shouldn’t be trapped into others’ happiness and success, even the force given from family and friends. For instance, told by many parents to the children, “I couldn’t do this (referring to a specific activity) when I was young, so I want to see you do it.” Defensed these children when they grow up, also declared that they have their own thought of career, although they are not actually...

Frankenstein and Passion

...Passion in a right place The late eighteenth century’s American author Christian Nevell Bovess quoted, “The passions are like fire, useful in a thousand ways and dangerous only in one, through their excess” which says that passions are good enough to help people o achieve what the want; nevertheless, they can still bring harm or destruction when they are excessive. Successful people usually have had enough passion to make their dreams come true since they knew how to manage their ambitions. However, when people are not able to think of other things because they are overly into one particular thing, passion becomes evilly obsessive. In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley tries to convey that passion is blinding and perilous when people no longer control their desires over one thing in a reasonable way. A major character, Victor Frankenstein’s powerful passion towards science brings total ruin on his life, putting his beloved people in death of dangers through his creature. As he sees a complete creature, Victor runs away, shocked by its disgusting appearances even though he was filled with joy and delight when he creates it. Irresponsibly, Victor abandons his creature, and the creature starts to become drastically evil, causing deaths of Victor’s family and friend: Victor’s young brother William, dearest Justine, true friend Henry, his lover Elizabeth, and his father Alpfonse.
