Personal Statement The enthusiasm I have for the sciences- especially chemistry, encouraged me to think about my future career and how a chemistry-related degree could be a possibility for me. My true passion lies in helping others in a safe and effective way through the use of innovative pharmaceutical medicines. I have become inspired by a personal ambition of becoming a Pharmacist as I aspire to improve people's daily lives. Ever since learning the fundamentals of chemistry, I knew this was the pathway I would follow. Chemistry at A-level has developed my understanding of the atomic structure, bonding and chemical mechanisms which I believe are elementary to studying Pharmacy. Its ensuing impulsion has also catalysed my grasping the biochemistry of biological molecules, such as enzymes in Biology. I have immensely enjoyed learning about the function of antibiotics in inhibiting the growth of bacteria, although bacterial resistance is still proving to be a huge problem for treating such infections. Laboratory experiments in both courses have greatly enhanced my practical and analytical skills. Equally, Physics and its application have improved my logical thinking, problem solving and data analysis skills. During the holidays, I spent a week shadowing a Pharmacist and dealing with different prescriptions, including giving advice to the patients and staff management, a challenging and intriguing experience which showed me how immensely cumbersome the Pharmacist's job can be. There, I carried out tasks like sorting and price tagging drugs as well as retrieving prescribed medication. I enjoyed watching the Pharmacist painstakingly and meticulously dispense them. I have also volunteered to teach the word of God at my local church. This has given me the opportunity to communicate with all age groups. Working at an engineering firm greatly helped develop essential IT skills like working with design interfaces. My most exciting role involved making crude designs of houses. I’ve also partaken in a challenging Leadership Training Program where I developed qualities of independence and teamwork, and effective communication, through various real and simulated situations. I have a great interest in sports and fashion which I believe is essential for a balanced lifestyle.I enjoy attempting to incorporate ideas from physics into my athletic involvements and comparing chemistry knowledge with those applied in ‘beauty treatment’ products. I work occasionally at a hair dressing salon where I have to deal with the tantrums of little children and attend circumspectly to customer queries. Also, living my country for another is going to enhance my international communication as I would imbibe a new culture and new ways of doing things. I could also impact a little bit of my own culture into the school hoping for a little change in the school’s tradition. I lived with a family friend which improved my level of independence and gave me the assurance that I could do well on my own anywhere I find myself. I aspire to being one of the best students the university can ever produce which would boost its fame and to find the cure for HIV/AIDS if it hasn’t been found by the time I graduate.
I have realized that the variety of experiences that I have gained has enabled me to become a confident, self-motivating and enthusiastic individual who is not only result driven but also aware of the need to adopt a holistic approach towards all challenges. I’m convinced I have gained a wide breadth of skills which place me in good stead for a successful university experience and am earnestly anticipating the commencement of the next phase of my academic journey. I’m greatly determined to succeed in attaining my ultimate goal, and am well poised to confront the challenges of university life head on.

...More Praise for the Second Edition of Beyond Change Management “Once again, Dean and Linda have nailed it! Beyond Change Management is an extraordinary book examining the shifts in change management that have occurred over the years. This book offers real, practical solutions for change practitioners to become extraordinary conscious change leaders.” —Darlene Meister, director, Unified Change Management, United States House of Representatives “Entering the offices recently of a highly respected Fortune 500 company, I was stunned by the enormity of change they were facing and at the same time how ill-equipped they were to deal with the challenges that lay ahead of them. They had little capacity to lead and manage the change required. And, of course, consulting firms were swarming all over them. Th ey needed this book by the Andersons to help them. In fact, Chapter Five alone on building organizational capability is worth the price of the book.” —W. Warner Burke, Ph.D., Edward Lee Thorndike Professor of Psychology and Education; chair, Department of Organization and Leadership; program coordinator, Graduate Programs in Social-Organizational Psychology, Teachers College, Columbia University “Beyond Change Management is a must-read for today’s C-Suite executives and those who lead organizational change. Change is a fact of life in all successful businesses. Based on this breakthrough construct, we now view our approach to transformational change as a strategic advantage. It is a way...

Personal Statement

...Subject: Successful Princeton Applicant Through all of my accomplishments and disappointments, I have always been especially proud of the dedication and fervor I possess for my personal beliefs and values. Unfortunately, it has often been difficult for me to remain outwardly firm and confident in a town where most people think alike and reject exceptions. Whenever I have expressed my position as a pro-life advocate, peers have badgered, accused, and ridiculed me for simply believing in something that they scorn. Despite all the pressure, I never waive red from my belief, yet I became frustrated and began to lose the courage to publicly express my opinion on this controversial topic. To gain some insight and reassurance for myself, I attended the New Jersey Right to Life Convention in the spring of 1995. This experience uplifted me and offered great inspiration and enlightenment. At the convention I received an overwhelming amount of support and encouragement from wonderful people who advocate the very principles I believe in. This convention was so inspiring that the next day in school I was able to relate my experience to one of my biggest opponents on the subject. Also, the abundant information available at the convention enabled me to defend my position on abortion more effectively. Attending this convention accomplished two things. It proved my commitment to my belief, in that I took the initiative to strengthen and support my opinion, refusing to give up or lose heart. Unlike...
