Myrmidon of Motif, Myth & Mysticism

‘9 is the number of the mythic Lords of Time.’ - Arguelles, The Mayan Factor

The Ennead, or nine pointed star, is an ancient and sacred symbol. It comprises three trinities. The Egyptian, Celtic, Greek and Christian myths all have an ennead of nine gods and goddesses, representing the entire archetypal range of principles. In Hinduism - 3 is a symbol of both the unification of the mind, body and spirit and the triad or the trinity, represented by the Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva or the Supreme Mother in the form of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi. 9 is said to be the magic number of Maya. Indian classical dance, often refers to the ‘rasas’ that are also nine in number, having been derived from the three basic gunas: Sattva, Rajas and Tamas.

Tristridha or 3 * 3 (3 times 3), assumes even more significance as it represents both the number nine as well the triple triad.

Tristridha also signifies an arithmetic progression: though we have chosen to characterize just 5 of Her manifestations, typifying the myths we believe in and the motifs and mystical practices that we abide by; the Supreme Mother in Her infinite manifestations knows no boundaries.

Tris-tridha, : Myrmidon of Motif, myth & mysticism represents us, the followers who carry the recurring & unifying idea with conviction through symbols, traditional & mythological stories and numinous practices; with religious tendency and desire of a union with the Divinity or the Supreme which is the ultimate reality.

Parvathi - the goddess of spiritual fulfillment, Divine Love; consort of Shiva. Born to the Mountain King Himavan, Parvathi follows severe austerities and undertakes penance to attain Her Lord. Shiva, appears as a young boy to test her resolution to marry Him. When the boy abuses Shiva Parvathi gets angry and no longer able to listen to the abuse, decides to walk away. Shiva appears in all his glory & takes her to be his wife. Parvathi is the quintessence of Adbhuta rasa as She sees her beloved in His absolute glory. She also epitomizes Shringara rasa as She unifies with the Lord as Ardhanareeswara.

The Goddess manifests herself as Sri-Lakshmi: the goddess of Material Fulfillment, consort of Vishnu. Emerging out of the, mighty ocean when churning it, Vishnu places her in his heart. The Ashta Lakshmi or 8 forms of Lakshmi bestows wealth, health, love, light, wisdom, beauty, fertility, fortune, happiness, prosperity, generosity and courage . She is Mahalakshmi of Kholapur, Bhavani of Tuljapur, Jagadamba of Saptshringi, Renenet of Egypt, Centeotl of Aztec and many more. An embodiment of beauty, grace and charm, she is endowed with six auspicious and divine qualities. She is prosperity; She is happiness, the giver filled with compassion. Here, we have also chosen to depict the devotion and gratitude that is shown to Her during the harvest season.

Kalima: the goddess of destruction and transformation and the devourer of time on one hand is also a very sweet, affectionate and overflowing with incomprehensible love for Her devotees. She appeared before Tenali Raman, an ardent devotee of hers and stood test to his comic & witty dialogue. Kali, here is Shyama Kali, the tender one who laughs heartily (Hasya rasa).

The Devimahatmyam describes Kali springing forth from the furrowed brow of the goddess Durga in order to slay the demons Chanda and Munda. She then faces an infinitely more powerful adversary in the demon named Raktabija, whose every drop of blood spilt on the ground creates an identical demon. When utter terror seizes the gods, She takes the bhanyankara rupa of Kali, her red tongue hanging out, armed with mighty weapons; in peak of anger (Roudra), she fights bravely – Veera rasa and drinks each drop of blood that flows out of the demon Raktabheeja (Bheebhatsa rasa). The demons who spring into being from the flow perish between her gnashing teeth.
Kali is worshipped predominantly in Bengal.
