Mysterious Places

Mamyan Ann
Our environment is full of magical, mystical, and mysterious places that defy explanation. There are treasures yet to be found, stone carvings we don't yet understand, and architectural feats to be explained. Even as we live in what we consider to be the most technologically advanced society in all history, there are currently no air-tight explanations for most of the true wonders of our planet and beyond. The Great Pyramids of Egypt are the oldest structures on earth, contain compelling evidence of a civilization far more advanced than ours, and most likely existed thousands of years before the great flood. With their original exteriors, they could probably be seen from the moon. The Mayan Civilization left behind incredible structures containing precise calculations and prophecies regarding the exact date of end of the world........Do you know that date? A site being studied on the side of Mt. Ararat in Turkey may be the remains of the Biblical Noah's Ark. Scientists are currently quietly investigating a site off the western tip of Cuba that some say may be part of the lost city of Atlantis. We know less about the bottom of our own seas than we do about outer space. There is a form on the surface of Mars that strongly appears to resemble an Egyptian face carving. Is there a link? These are just a few of the many fascinating and mysterious places we intend to visit on these pages. From sunken cities to lost treasure to the forgotten wisdom of the ancients, the purpose of this section is to study and try to shed light on the most unusual places on earth. This section is a work in progress, so please be tolerant of our under construction pages.

The Pyramids
If one had to choose the top mysterious power spot on earth, the easy choice would be the Giza Pyramids in Egypt. These huge structures have withstood the ravages of thousands of years virtually intact - yet we know very little about what they are, when they were built, who built them, how they were built, or what purpose they were designed to serve. Just the undertaking of a discussion on this fascinating topic is a daunting proposition because there are so many theories covering so many disciplines on every aspect of the subject. The official Egyptian brochures say that the three big pyramids in the Giza complex were built as tombs for kings. These purport that the largest and most precise of these Pyramids, often called the Great Pyramid, was built by King Khufu (Cheops) sometime around 2,550 BC. It is believed that Khufu's son, Khafre built the second largest pyramid and the Sphinx later, and that Khafre's son Menkaure built the smallest pyramid in the trio. Each pyramid has a mortuary temple and valley temple joined by what were long enclosed causeways, and the landscape surrounding the pyramids is dotted with the tombs of attendants and other royal family members. Though this is the official description of the history of the pyramids, there is evidence to suggest that the pyramids are much older than previously thought, and that they did not serve as tombs of any sort. Having said that, the purpose of this section is to detail the various theories as when the pyramids were built, who built them, when and how were they built, and for what purpose. On the Mystical side, the Pyramids - especially the Great Pyramid - may tell us things that we haven't discovered about ourselves, our world, and even our universe. They may tell us of the beginning and the end. They may give us yet undiscovered insights into physics, harmonics, geometry, mathematics, and architecture to name just a few of the possibilities. The Pyramid complex at Giza is a complicated, but VERY important topic for the purposes of the Mystical Blaze website, and we will continually try here to put complex concepts in as understandable a format as is possible for the average reader. Please see the links above left for various aspects and theories regarding these fabulous masterpieces of construction and precision.....

THE BERMUDA TRIANGLE
The Bermuda Triangle or "Devil's Triangle" is a triangular-shaped area off the coast of Florida that is famous for reports in which strange disappearances occur and magnetic compasses go haywire. The area is situated in the Atlantic Ocean and is generally thought of as having apexes at Miami, Bermuda, and San Juan. This area contains some of the deepest sub-oceanic trenches in the world, encompasses the fast-moving waters of the Gulf Stream, and has frequent strong water spouts and violent storms, making at least some of the reported odd phenomena attributable to human error or mishap. The US Coast Guard acknowledges the fact that there are definite environmental anomalies in this area, but goes on to say that human error is by far the more bizarre phenomena that happens in these waters. The area sustains heavy traffic, both by air and by sea, and certainly accidents are bound to happen. Inexperienced mariners or pilots who don't take into account variations in compass readings or environmental anomalies in the area can and do get into serious trouble, accounting for many of the unexplained disappearances in the area. However, even if every one of these stories were found to be attributable to human error or natural phenomena, the area is still fascinating for other reasons, not the least of which includes speculation that it encompasses the lost continent of Atlantis, and that it is a doorway to other dimensions. There is also speculation that the seabed in this area contains huge amounts of methane gas that is released suddenly due to changes in the sea bed, releasing large, unpredictable plumes of gas that have the capability to swallow ships or planes within minutes - without a trace. One interesting theory is that the Bermuda Triangle is just one of many "vile vortices" that exist in both hemispheres all over the globe, a subject that we are researching and will publish more information on very soon. Rather than dredging through the reports of disappearances, we are going to attempt to look at the area of the Bermuda Triangle with all it's anomalies and try to make some sense of it all on this page. There are several interesting aspects of the area that warrant a closer look:
Triangular Shape: The triangle has had mystical and magical connotations attached to it since before written history - after all, the Great Pyramid is sitting out there for all to see - and it is a perfect triangle with a whole slew of unknowns surrounding it. Having said that, is the triangular shape of the Bermuda Triangle of any significance? Yes, but not like one might think........it indeed does appear to be on a strong energy line or vortex in addition to all the variations described above, but this appears to be more relevant to its placement on earth than the actual triangular shape made by the 3 reference points by which we identify it.
Electromagnetism: Certainly electromagnetism has played a role in the mystery surrounding the Bermuda Triangle. This is one of only two places in the world where the compass points true north. However, the fact is that as you circumnavigate the earth you find compass variations of up to 22 percent at various locations. At first glance, this does not seem significant in any real sense, but again, if one looked worldwide very closely, this points to a strong vortex of some sort within the Bermuda Triangle area. We are continuing research in this area and will post updates soon.
The Lost Continent of Atlantis: Speculation that Atlantis was located in or very near the area of the Bermuda Triangle is probably the most interesting aspect of the Bermuda Triangle phenomena. Mainly because of psychic Edgar Cayce's revelations, the Bahamas and surrounding sea in particular have been pinpointed as a likely site for this lost continent. Speculation has it that if the water was lowered in the area by 300 feet or so, the dimensions and topology originally described by Plato would match almost exactly. Indeed, a report in 2001 of an underwater city that has been found off the western tip of Cuba may shed some light on this mystery. It could be that the continent encompassed the entire Caribbean area and that the land forms we know today are the highest mountain peaks of that lost civilization.
Unexplained variations in compass readings other than those attributable to normal compass variation discussed above have been reported in the Caribbean area, and most agree that psychic energy is very high here. Some suggest that the Bermuda Triangle phenomena is directly related to sunken batteries or crystals from the lost continent of Atlantis still emitting energies from the ocean floor.
Portal to Another Dimension: Another interesting theory about the Bermuda Triangle area is that certain places there serve as portals to other dimensions. The sheer number of credible eyewitness UFO reports makes this an area warranting serious further study with respect to either permanent or ever-changing possible portal sites. Credible scientists making careful observations in the area have reported anomalies in magnetism and gravitational forces here that cannot be explained by conventional physics, introducing the possibility that there is a dynamic opening and closing of other dimensional doorways in the vicinity.
In summary, the Bermuda Triangle is a fascinating area with a rich history that does seem to be conducive to supernatural phenomena in some respects, though further analytical study is definitely needed. There is speculation that the US government is already conducting covert tests in the Bahamas area, specifically Bimini, though exactly what they are looking for is as much a mystery as the area itself. Indeed, the famous "Bimini Road" is located on this island, where some say portions of the ruins of Atlantis can be seen in the clear shallow water. The National Geographic Society is reportedly investigating the reports of the lost city beneath the waters off Cuba, but they have not made any public announcements about what they have found to date. We will be keeping an eye on this development, so do check back often for further information.

The Brown Mountain Lights
They appear in the dark of night, suddenly appearing from unseen places within the shadowy forest. They are ethereal orbs that float up the mountainside, darting, dancing....and then in a blink of an eye, they are gone. Sometimes there are only a few and sometimes there are hundreds. They have been well-known for as long as man has walked the area, but nobody knows what they are or where they come from. This is the enigma of the Brown Mountain Lights. Many scientific and not-so-scientific studies have been done on the Brown Mountain area, and a few claim that they have solved the mystery, but in reality, no theory has yet come to light that completely explains this phenomenon. The only thing that we really know for sure is that the Brown Mountain Lights are a real and ongoing wonder of the modern world. Brown Mountain is a part of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which is part of the bigger Appalachian chain, a old mountain system that dates back to before Africa split from North America. In fact, the Atlas mountains in Morocco were originally part of the same Appalachian chain. The mountains we see today are the result of the collision of two continental plates pushing the land up and even folding it over in places, and there are still fault lines in the area of Brown Mountain. Brown Mountain itself is not the most spectacular example of this evolutionary process, and in reality is a rather flat, non-descript looking mountain with a higher peak at one end. The valley below is U-shaped, offering several vantage points for viewing the lights from other mountains at various points on the borders of the U-shaped valley. The mountain itself is made up of primarily granite, sandstone, quartz, mica, iron, and magnetite. Of these, quartz, mica, and magnetite are crystals, with quartz being well-known and widely used in every facet of our lives for its electrical properties, and magnetite with well-known magnetic properties. We know a lot more about what The Brown Mountain Lights are not than what they are. We know that they are not St. Elmo's fire, which is fairly well understood and manifests differently. We know they are not similar to the Andes lights, because that also manifests completely differently. We know that they are not released swamp gas energy because there are no swamps in the area. Indian and early settler lore attributed the lights to various spirit entities doomed to eternally search for loved ones whose lives ended tragically. This is certainly a romantic theory but is probably not the case, especially since the lights were likely there before any of the tragedies related to the lore happened. Lights from cars, trains, and nearby towns, along with fires and flashlights from within the valley probably account for some of what we see today, but don't explain the Indians and settlers seeing the very same phenomenon before autos and flashlights, and don't explain all of what we see today by a long shot. What we do know about the Brown Mountain Lights is that they are visible energy from an unknown source, and that's about it. One somewhat believable theory in wide circulation today is that the lights are some type of plasma generated by water flowing within the mountain and bouncing off the rocks. Because of the basic components in the rocks, it is feasible that they could produce electrical or magnetic plasma such as what we are seeing, but this doesn't explain why we don't see this type of thing occur elsewhere in the area - or in areas with similar physical attributes.
Sometimes when studying a phenomenon, it helps to look around and see if there are any similar but unrelated manifestations elsewhere that might give a clue as to the origin. In the case of floating orbs, there are indeed other manifestations of orbs of light appearing under different circumstances. Ball lightning is one such manifestation that is very poorly understood. We generally think of ball lightening as happening during thunderstorms, but we don't really know enough about it to say with certainty that it never manifests otherwise under the right conditions. The behavior is similar - a bright ball of light or fire that dissipates quickly, sometimes with a bang and sometimes not. Another instance is the remarkably similar orbs or balls of light have been reported repeatedly around newly formed crop circles, where testing shows higher than normal radiation, and plant materials that appear to have been "microwaved." Interestingly, the appearance of the Brown Mountain Lights has been documented to become more frequent at times when the solar wind is at its strongest, so radiation may very well play a part, in addition to something about the configuration of the land and the composition of the mountains. Lastly on the "maybe list" is the theory that the lights are related to Earthlights, which appear to act as harbingers of strong earthquakes, but that can appear years before the quake itself. The origin of Earthlights is still under debate but there is wide agreement that they do indeed exist. The theory at this time is that giant formations of rock on either side of a fault line are scraping together underground with incredible force, somehow producing a powerful charge that eventually explodes up into the atmosphere and manifests as a ball of light, quickly dissipating and blinking out within a short time frame. The Brown Mountain Lights make appearances all through the year, but for whatever reason, fall is reported as the most likely time to see them. They are not a nightly occurrence and it's largely a matter of luck as to whether you will see them on any particular day of the year. They are also reported to be more active after a rain or during a drizzle. Even though they probably are not spooks or ghouls, they are still an unknown phenomenon, and as such are a fascinating thing to see if you are lucky enough to be in the area at the right time.

Sedona, Arizona
The Vortices at Sedona
Sedona, Arizona is a scenic place with incredible red rock formations and a stark, transfixing beauty that is replicated nowhere else on earth. It is also, however, a spiritual Mecca and has been a sacred place for the Indians for thousands of years. Indeed, visitors to the huge formations almost always come away with the feeling that the entire area is somehow "different" and almost surreal. Add to that incredible celestial displays, some of the most frequent and convincing UFO sightings on earth, and thousands of reports of many kinds of spiritual and paranormal experiences by visitors, and you have one of the most truly intriguing supernatural places on earth! The rock formations themselves at Sedona likely play a big part in what is happening in the vicinity. The rock is sandstone that contains iron, granite, and traces of copper, sliver, and gold. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think of them as natural electromagnetic conductors. In simple terms, this is a natural formation that could amplify electricity and then discharge it, creating an electromagnetic vortex that affects the surrounding area in a palpable way. Again, it is not too much of a stretch to imagine that this electrical discharge is of a frequency or resonance capable of affecting the human psyche. Could this configuration possibly opens doors to other dimensions, either physically or mentally? Sedona is widely considered one of the major power centers on earth, and is listed right up there along with the pyramids in Egypt, Stonehenge, and Easter Island. The major features there include Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Boynton Canyon, and Secret Canyon. Bell rock is notable for the belief that it is a portal to other dimensions, and anomalous electrical readings have indeed been scientifically recorded there. The fact that there are four purported vortexes all in close vicinity to each other likely magnifies the entire paranormal phenomena and experience. To summarize, if you find yourself in the southwest area, do make the pilgrimage to Sedona and find out for yourself. This is old, majestic country revered by everyone who has experienced it for thousands of years, and it is a must-see for anyone interested in spiritual growth, UFO's, other dimensions, or supernatural and paranormal study!
Life After Death
"In the dawn of physical existence, men knew that death was merely a change of form......"
The question of life after death has been around since the dawn of mankind. Most people do believe that there is some type of existence after the physical body is gone, and one good explanation for this is that there is no compelling reason not to believe it. What would be the point of going through this sometimes very hard life if we were just going to be reduced to dust after all is said and done? We are spiritual beings, and as spiritual beings we often manifest unmistakable signs that give us insight into the fact that our essence, or spirit, is not bound to our physical body. Intuition, perception, deja vu, strong emotions, feelings, psychic abilities, and many other common spiritual functions give strong evidence that we are somehow connected to a much higher plane than is present on the physical earth. Volumes have been written on the experiences of individuals who have come very near to death, or actually died and were then resuscitated. The descriptions of these experiences tend to be remarkably similar, despite the actual individuals being from very different religions and lifestyles. Virtually all report sensing that rather than the end, this is the beginning of their spiritual journey. Most feel warmth, serenity, and a comforting tunnel of light, and some report seeing Angels, friends, family members, and even beloved pets waiting for them on the other side. Of course, as with most supernatural, paranormal, psychic, and otherworldly phenomena, there is no concrete proof of life after death, but spiritually, on some level, most of us likely do believe that this earth is not our only plane of existence. This section of Mystical Blaze is devoted to the research of life after death, and to stories and insights of those who have experienced life after death situations firsthand.

Mental Telepathy
Mental telepathy is defined as "Communication through means other than the senses, or thought transference." This is a rather dry way of putting it, but is an accurate definition nonetheless. Solid proof as to whether telepathy is even a valid phenomenon has been extremely elusive over time, despite continuing efforts. Most evidence is anecdotal and therefore not accepted scientifically. Having said that, most of us have had a telepathic experience at some point whether we realized it or not. Lots of things happen in life that we attribute to coincidence or chance that may actually be telepathic manifestations. Just because we can't prove it at this time, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There are many things related to the mind, thought processes, and spirit that we still know little or nothing about. We know that thoughts are a type of energy, but we don't know much about how that energy originates or how it is dispersed. It could be that we are tapping into the theorized global consciousness, with our thoughts going out into a network to finally make their way to their destination, much like the phone network. Or it could be that we can actually focus thoughts like a laser beam at a particular receptive individual, whether they are aware of the process or not. Anecdotal evidence of telepathy is really quite overwhelming, even if we can't come up with a repeatable scientific test to confirm it. The mother who is instantly aware that her daughter has had an accident, the person who thought about someone they haven't seen in years, then runs across that very person in a supermarket the next day, the strong feeling that the phone is about to ring, and then it does - all of these are likely manifestations of telepathy. As human beings, we are interconnected in ways that we don't fully understand, and therefore, it stands to reason that telepathy is as natural as breathing, but is for the most part stifled in our modern world with all it's distractions. In my research for this topic, I encountered conflicting theories on how far we can actually go telepathically. It's pretty clear that we can wittingly or unwittingly transmit or receive messages, especially in times of stress or crisis. But can we influence that actions of others by thought transference alone? Hard to say but I think those with a strong motivation probably can. More on that in a moment. It took me a long time to put this page together because in my research I kept getting sidetracked with different aspects of telepathy, and it took some time to sort it all out. One of the most interesting is the theory that we can telepathically communicate with our pets - especially dogs. We know pretty much zero about how our pets think, but for dogs in particular, we already know that they are very attuned to us. Mine are young dogs - under 2 years old, and have been taught the basics, like sit, lay down, etc. On and off as they have come up to me, I have sat in my chair and looked at them and thought "SIT, SIT, SIT, SIT." You might not believe me, but in every case, those dogs plop right down before a minute is even up. I suppose it's possible that they are getting some kind of non-telepathic cue from me, but it appears (at least with my dogs) that a mental command to sit is pretty much as good as a verbal one. I encourage all who have dogs to try this. It's absolutely amazing. Now, back to whether we can influence other people by thought alone. In my experience, the answer is yes, to a point. I don't think you can will someone to commit murder or jump off a cliff telepathically, but I do believe strongly that you can influence someone to think about you and possibly call or come by if you feel strongly that you want to see them. This would obviously have to be someone you had a fairly close emotional relationship with at some point in time, like an old boyfriend or girlfriend. It takes persistence and concentration, but not an enormous amount of energy such as what it would take to bend a spoon telekinetically. Just think of them often and concentrate on them. If you pass near their house in your car, call out their name. Visualize their face and call their name as you go to sleep at night and say Call Me! Imagine that your thoughts are a laser beam and point them in the direction of their house. Do this consistently and don't be surprised when the phone rings or they knock on your door within a month or so. Again, try this. If you are serious and persistent, it should work for you. One word of caution, though - be careful what you ask for. That old boyfriend/girlfriend might not be the hot catch you blew him/her up to be in your mind after all that time.

Family Values

...Family Values As I walked into the house, I could almost taste the eggnog that would be waiting for me on the table. Eyeing the plate of cookies, I forced myself to follow my Gram up the stairs to the attic. The cookies could wait. I had come to help my Gram set up her miniature Christmas village. For Christmas each year I would give my Gram a new building, ice skater, or tree to add to her village. Her face would light up as she found the perfect place for the village’s newest addition. About two weeks before Christmas I would arrive at my Grams house to help her set up the village. I would watch in amazement as she placed each individual piece in the same exact place as she had the year before - slightly altering the village to welcome the newest addition. This was my favorite Christmas tradition when I was a child, and I looked forward to it every year. Although I live a distance away from my Gram, I visit frequently and wish I had more time to do so. She has always been completely engaged in my daily life, and it would seem strange to not see her on the first day of school each year, camera in hand, eager to take my picture. My Gram acts as a second mother to me, and I can always count on her for support. I have grown to trust her completely and she always seems to be the person who is there to help me. My Gram is the first person I go to for help and I can talk to her about virtually anything. Regardless of the subject of our conversations, she loves the fact...

Travel as Medicine

...Due: 7-11-11 The serenity of Caribbean waters or the rich culture of European countries all take me to a place far from the monotonous day to day routine of life. The mere thought of getting away from it all immediately brings calmness to my spirit and a recharge to my battery. Travel carries a universal theme of being therapeutic and has often been noted as one of the best forms of medicine. Therapy is played out by the simple idea of being in a place outside the norm, taking time to rejuvenate with rest and relaxation and creating lasting memories to draw from for those times when travel is needed but not warranted. These are instances where getting away may not be conducive to a persons schedule or budget and memories then become priceless commodities that can be pulled out at any given time. There are millions of places to travel to nationwide and abroad. Tourists are constantly seeking new beaches, museums, national parks and places that allow them to see and visit sites outside of their normal cities. Frequent travelers often take trips seasonally, annually or at will if money is no issue. However, the average consumer may simply look for outlets to relieve stress and places that allow them to do so. Taking a vacation does not necessarily have to constitute flying clear across the country just to get away. Going to a place that you have never visited before could be medicinal therapy in and of itself if it allows a break in routine. Rest and relaxation are two...

...Effective communication in the work place is essential for a successful work place environment. I have been in numerous work places where the communication was poor and I have been in work place environments where the communication flowed and we were very successful in getting the job done. Understanding each other and what each other bring to the table, brings a level of respect amongst the employees in the work environment. There was one time when I was stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri my new job was going to be a instructor, teaching new soldiers the job of Combat Engineer. My part of that process was teaching them demolition training in which we teach them inert training and when they passed that, they were allowed to go outside to the demolition range and blow up C-4 and dynamite. Effective communication between myself and other instructors was paramount as we had to weed out soldiers that needed more training and wasn’t yet ready to use the real stuff. We had to continuously confer with each other every hour sometimes every thirty minutes to make sure that we were on the same page reference to the soldiers. Being that demolitions have no one’s name on it, we had to ensure from a safety standpoint to leave certain soldiers in the classroom to continue training on inert demolitions. To be absolutely effective in what we did as instructors, we placed a high commitment on communication as we had hand held walkie talkies on us and we were in contact on cell phones...

Heritage

...Our heritage is a big part of what makes a country unique. Heritage enhances our quality of life and sense of place. It reflects the distinct expressions and aspirations of our country and its culture. Heritage is not just about the past. It is about the places, spaces and stories that we should value today and save and preserve them for tomorrow. Heritage places and heritage buildings are fundamental to our sense of history community and identity. Communities across Canada, the United States, and abroad have been capitalizing on their distinctive heritage assests by revitalizing their business cores and reclaiming them as the commercial and social hubs of the community. Besides economic value, heritage resources have intrinsic value in the information they contain about the past. They can teach us great deal. Who lived here? What happened here? Buildings, landscapes and archaeological sites can give us a unique insight into our past- knowledge that sometimes cannot be obtained any other way. Our heritage helps us make sense of our rapidly changing world and guides us into the future. Well-maintained historic buildings, streetscapes and landscapes contribute to safe and comfortable neighborhoods and foster local identity and pride. Old buildings embody energy and materials. Reusing older buildings saves the destruction of trees, saves the energy used to transport them to mills and create new construction materials, and saves more green space from development. Safety Hazards - Hasc

...Simran Suner Health and Social Care: Homework 2 During a trip to the Wolverhampton Mander Centre, I came across a number of potential hazards, which could potentially cause harm within this setting. The Mander Centre is a place where many service users can go to enjoy themselves, to shop in the many stores or to go eat in the fine restaurants – the town is place to hundreds of visitors per day, using the faculties available, constantly. This is why I was surprised to see a large number of hazards which could easily harm the service users in this area. One of the first hazards I came across was a bag full of sand, which was supposed to be keeping in place protection barriers, however the heavy bag had been left in the middle of the pavement. I believe this to be a major risk, a service user could easily trip and fall over this bag, which could result in major injuries. To prevent such a thing from happening, I would simply inform a nearby builder or a police officer (who are always round town) about the situation and thus allowing it to be placed correctly. I would not attempt to do this myself, as I do not know why this was placed or where this should be placed and attempting to pick up such a heavy bag, could lead to me resulting in a back injury ; if the item is not lifted and placed properly. The second safety hazard I came across was a large box of waste pilled in front of a closed up shop. This box was over pilling and cans and cups were fallen across the floor. I believe...

Let me ask you this, with a raise of hands how many of you would like to live in a house like this? Well, it is a common goal in today’s fast-paced society to achieve monetary wellness in order to live what some people call “the good life”. In this house you have the latest technology and a crew of people that are more than willing to take care of all of your needs. Now, picture yourself in this house. They had seen their daughter grow, they saw how she would fail, but they also had the opportunity to see her achieve all of her goals. Now if you show this picture to her now grown and mature daughter, she would not see just a house, she would see her home. Children wailed tills beeped, sound systems boomed. In comparison, the rumbling cars and chattering birds of the outside world were nothing. Inside the supermarket the scent of bread and fruit filled the air. All the while customers pushed and shoved as they tried to squeeze past one another trying to gain access to the many bargains and free bread being given out. The supermarket was as busy as a hive full of bees rushing to make honeycomb for their queen. Shelves that had been neatly stacked just a few hours ago were now all over the place. Fruit was squashed, milk was spilt. Clothes were out of place, jewellery was on the floor – miss-matched, shoes were with wrong pairs and hangers were chucked here and there. Elsewhere, employees scurried around about like squirrels readying themselves for winter – customers every need were tended to with a standard impassive, teeth bearing smile. Deep within the supermarket, a small child dragged his feet along the polished marble floor as he was pulled along; shiny, smart trainers screeched piercingly against the flooring. The boy whined noisily. Prying head snapped to the source of the noise, either sighing or smile knowingly. Unruly ebony black hair exploded from the boy’s head like a jungle. Illuminating a sharp nose and bright sky blue...

America

...Starbucks and energy drinks to get us through the day. We fool ourselves into thinking we are healthy just because we ate something “low-fat’. When we look in the mirror, we “really haven’t gained that much weight”. Our society teaches us ways to make excuses. “I haven’t had my coffee yet.” “There was traffic.” “My kids got up late.” “The dog ate my homework.” It’s always someone else’s fault; the responsibility is never on the individual. We lie to ourselves and others to make our lives seem so ey need to be and only growing… right along with our waistlines. We place restrictions on alcohol and marijuana, but not on fat content. If we took a moment to really evaluate the reasons we are so fat, then maybe we wouldn’t hold the title of fattest country. It really isn’t a noble honor. There are so many statistics and studies that have been done on this subject, but we’re not doing anything with it. Sure, there are places trying to lighten their menus, but people don’t know how to make the right food choices. They don’t really teach that in school. So much emphasis is placed on being beautiful and successful, yet we have no motivation to get off our asses and do something. We have this “mightier than thou” attitudemay be president, but it’s the men underneath him calling the shots. So here is your freedom, here...

Work Environement

...everything was placed. In an unorganized environment I found my productivity to be very low because I spent most of my time finding the right document instead of working on it. It is very important that I know my career can grow with the company. If I work at places that limit my ability to grow, it lowers my motivation. On the other hand, if the work environment allows me to expand with the company, I would spend more time and try harder to work my best. The last and most important is management of the work environment. Working in a company with poor management would be a disaster. I have had a manager that changed his mind all the time. One day he set up all the rules, and the other day he broke all of them. It is very hard to work with a manager that doesn’t commit to his/her management. Poor management can lead to a lot of issues in work environment. I have never worked at a place that has all of the characteristics above. It would be my ideal work environment if the company is well organized, has the ability to expand my career, and has good management. My current job as an intern in a CPA office gives me the ability to expand my career and has good management. However, due to the heavy work load the work place is not as organized as my ideal environment...

My Visit To The Appalachian Mountains

...The place where I am most content also happens to be the place that brings out the best characteristics in me. During the summer and holidays I always take time out of my schedule to go up to the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. My grandfather and grandmother live in Jefferson, a very small town in the western corner of North Carolina. I love going to the mountains because it gives me the opportunity to spend time with my family, but also help others. During my stay at the mountains I visit the senior center, cook, and attend music. All of these things are unique and special to me. One of my favorite things to do while in the mountains is to visit the senior center. When I visit the senior center with my grandmother we always play the card game Samba with the other ladies there. Samba is a form of Canasta that requires a lot of risky moves. However, drawing a good hand is never a bad thing. I adore talking with the senior ladies because of the knowledge and history they have to share. The ladies always tell me stories about their high school experiences and college majors...
