Cadet Corps (Community Service Paper)

...Cadet Corps The organization that I will be using is the Bill E. Young, Jr. Middle School Cadet Corps. This organization goes in the improving American society by motivating kids from grade 6-8th that is having difficulty with academics. This program not only helps improve their academics but it also improves their ability with socializing by communicating with their classmates by starting off with the kids in the program. The Cadets learn four attributes while in the cadet corps which is Loyalty, Integrity, Duty, and Selfless- Service. The Cadet Corps makes them ready for high school and keeps them on track afterwards. These Cadets are motivated through discipline, military courtesy, and drill and ceremony. This is the only middle school to have a cadet core in the valley which has some discipline as the army by having not only a principle/teacher from the army but a friend they can relate to. The person I’m talking about is Joe Derma who to the Cadet Corps is the “Cadet Commandant”. The Cadet Corps was established in 2004 at the Bill E. Young, Jr. Middle School in Calipatira and has been going on since then. The Cadets meet at the last period of class in their school time which consists of 7 periods. There are currently 30 cadets in the program. During the year they will have extra help in learning the U.S. Constitution, Current affairs, Economics, and Physical Education. At the end of the year all 8th graders are required to pass the test for their knowledge in the U.S Constitution...

Smp to Rsp

...| SMP to RSP | Integration of SMP’s to the RSP Program | | SFC Steven M. Callison | | | PROBLEM: Since the integration of the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) into the National Guard many issue have arisen that have been solved to make drastic improvement. However one issue still causes problems on a regular basis. Cadre/unit member are heavily relied on at the RSP site to conduct STRM module training at various phase levels inside the RSP program. The lack there of, or the quality of unit members provided has had a negative impact on our ability to reach an optimal level of operation and proficiency. Issue such as APFT, HT/WT, professionalism, drill attendance, and individual motivation as hindered us from reaching our goal. Our REPS are the spearhead of the National Guard and the future of this great organization and deserve the best of the best when it comes to instructors and cadre. This is a first and a lasting impression of our organization! BACKGROUND: The issue with cadre/unit representative may not seem like a huge obstacle for some, but to the Detachment commanders, recruiters, and RSP AGR staff this single inanity sets and shapes the climate of the Recruit Sustainment Program. RSP is a high op-tempo environment, and to date we have had very few soldiers provide by the units that can handle this responsibility and operate at high efficiency. With current procedures and guidelines set a unit has to provide one unit representative from their unit...

Rotc

...knowledge on JROTC when I was in high school I may have giving it a chance. Junior ROTC is a part of a federal program that is sponsored by the United States Armed Forces. Junior ROTC is located within High Schools across America. Many students who enroll in the JROTC are more likely to enlist in part of the United States Military. The Reserve Officers Training Corps also known as ROTC began in 1916 on the campus of Yale University. Hundreds of thousands of cadets have trained there since then. Approximately 70,000 ROTC cadets train at over 300 campuses (Wissing 39). The latest branch was opened in 2011 when the secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus joined with Yale President Richard Levin to re-establish the ROTC on its campus. It had been 40 years since the last ROTC class graduated from Yale. Yale was the first to form the Navy Air Corps in 1917 and in 1926 was one of the first six to establish the NROTC (Wissing 39). The United States Army Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) came into being with the passage of the National Defense Act of 1916. Under the Act, high schools were authorized the loan of federal military equipment and the assignment of...

The Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps (JROTC)

...I have recently discovered that while living in the present is certainly rewarding, it is doubtlessly fundamental that we consider our pasts and futures as well - what made us who we are, and how will we continue to improve? The Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (JROTC) has advanced in nearly all of the fields it is involved in since its founding in 1916, and it is simple to see that its development will not end here. Cadets have gone on to become professional athletes, renowned scholars, and celebrated members of the military; one can only imagine what inspiring individuals the program will produce in the future. From roughly 1819 to 1915, military training occurred sparingly in high schools and colleges across the nation; although it lacked sanction, it encouraged many students to pursue careers in the armed forces. President Wilson addressed the issue of this unofficial instruction in 1916, when he signed the National Defense Act. The National Defense Act of 1916 is primarily responsible for the creation of JROTC. At the beginning of its existence, active duty military personnel led the Army JROTC program; their tools to lead instruction consisted of federal military equipment loaned to them. Only six units...

West Point Case Study

...West Point Case Analysis Bellevue University Description “A Cadet will not lie, cheat or steal nor tolerate those who do”, reads West Point’s honor code, allegedly violated in 1976. The West Point Cheating Incident revolves around an incident from 1976, where over 100 juniors were alleged to have cheated on an electrical engineering exam. Cheating on an exam can have damning ramifications at any school, but when it comes to West Point; it is a direct violation of the schools highly held honor code. The honor code is a West Point tradition, and has helped mold military leaders with high integrity and strong values. Due to the sheer number of individuals, who were alleged to be involved, and where the scandal was happening, the event garnered national attention. Due to the uproar in the press and across the country, more pressure was placed on General Sidney Berry, Superintendent of the United States Naval Academy by bureaucrats and politicians alike. Diagnosis West Point is not your ordinary school setting. It is a breeding ground for training our nation’s best and brightest future military leaders. In the United States Military, it is imperative for soldiers to lead with character, while remaining calm under fire. It seems West Point, at the time of this event, concerned itself more around punishing for crimes than it did developing character. If West Point was truly interested in developing leaders with high character, it would not utterly dismiss individuals...

Diversity in Law Enforcement

...Diversity in Law Enforcement MAJ-660 Across the United States there are many challenges among law enforcement agencies when it comes to hiring the most qualified candidates and also those candidates that come from racial/ethnic minorities and female applicants. Having diversity within a law enforcement agency is critical. Bringing cultural understandings and native language skills to the force, minorities’ play a key role for success when the officers are called to help those groups of individuals. “In short, the police may be seen more legitimate and may be better able to partner with community organizations in fighting crime if they more closely resemble and identify with the communities they serve” (Raganella and White, 2004; Scivner, 2006). Due to the higher standards that most of the law enforcement agencies require, there are many individuals that would make outstanding police officers, but do not meet many of the requirements such as a college education. However, there are many other circumstances that can attribute to the lower number of minorities and women in law enforcement. One of the biggest issues with recruitment of racial/ethnic minorities and women basically boils down to “an insufficient number of these groups simply not applying for the job” (Scivner, 2006). According to Ravens 2010, “lack of awareness suggests a deficiency in outreach actions and events; that is, there is not enough recruitment in areas where demographics...

Included are an overview of the project, the rationale for choosing this topic, the design of this project, and the methods that will be used to conduct the research. This proposal also includes resources needed to complete this project, and an annotated bibliography that will be used as the core sources for the literature review I will write for the final paper. Overview and Purpose of the Research Project The role of women in combat has changed drastically over the years. Their inclusion in the military has increased followed by their involvement. However, the women are still limited in terms of what roles they are allowed to take. The general stigma against women depicts them as homemakers and their place in combat cannot exceed certain levels such as allowing them in the front line. There are other factors that have been linked to their limitation including their capacity to handle emotions, their need for extended leave when they get pregnant and their overall performance as compared to the men. People are constantly advocating for equal rights in men and women. In a bid to achieve that, women should be encouraged to uptake military positions...

Practice & Problems of Human Resource Department of Bangladesh Army

...PRACTICE & PROBLEMS OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT OF BANGLADESH ARMY INTRODUCTION 1. Human beings are the most important resources in an organization. A firm’s / organization’s success depends on the capabilities of its members. Most problems, challenges, opportunities and frustrations in an organization are people related. Human Resource Management is one of the toughest duties of a manager or leader since humans differ in terms of attitudes, values, aspirations, motivations, assumptions, psychology, and life goals. Looking at today’s competitive world, managerial level staff will require more conceptual and strategic skills. Managers have to be proactive, able to anticipate technological developments and prepare their staff for whatever technological changes that might take place. This will be a successful task only when the HRM itself is fully aware of those changes and has the means to deal with them. HR managers have a number of roles to fulfill. They are the guardians of the manpower- the key assets of the organizations. They are also counselor and protector of employees and directly responsible for their effectiveness in the organization. They need to do their jobs in keeping with the existing laws, rules and regulations of the organization, and promote harmony at the workplace. This has direct bearing in a healthier and more attractive work environment. The success or failure of HR depends also on the top management’s recognition of the importance of HRM, and...
