Short Narrative Essay: Never Make the Same Mistake Twice
I have had to learn the hard way of what my parents meant when they used to always tell me to never make the same mistake twice. I did not figure out what they were truly saying to me until I started my own life and began to make an endless number of mistakes. I learned from life’s experiences that the only way you could truly live up to this saying is when you make a complete transformation from your old ways.

My life took some tremendous turns in March of 1997 when I gave birth to my first born son. I was only a child myself so I was completely clueless about what was going on in my life at the time. This was the moment when I had to make a decision to change my life for the better simply because I had a child to take care of. It was so hard for me to believe that I was a junior in high school and seventeen years old ,holding a newborn baby in my arms at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Everything that I once knew changed and all I wanted to focus on was being a better person for my child. I wasn’t a bad person but I made bad choices that I always ended up suffering the consequences for.
When I arrived home from the hospital I immediately started going through a metamorphosis. My dedication was fully directed towards my mother for being so supportive and for assisting me and equipping me with what I needed to be successful as a teen parent and as a high school student. I was fully committed to making a difference in my life as well as the life of others. I went to parenting groups for young women , I volunteered at homeless shelters for pregnant teens that didn’t have any family or assistance from anyone, and I preached sermons to my friends so that they would make better decisions that would prevent them from experiencing all of the things that I had encountered.
My interest in being compassionate gave me the courage to stand up for what is right and to turn away from the world of always trying to be cool. I learned at a very early age that following the wrong crowd is detrimental to having a good life. I didn’t want to do the things I used to do because I became a different person when I had my son. I grew up and I figured out that being a parent may have been my blessing in disguise.

There was no more sneaking out and going to parties, no more cheating and skipping school, no more ling and playing games, no more bad grades and most of all no more boys until I knew I was ready to date. I must have made a thousand mistakes since then but it was only as time with by and as life continued to happen, I gained an understanding about what my parents were saying. Mistakes are lessons, they teach us how to get things right. It is completely up to us to learn from them and if we don’t, we fail to receive the blessings from the lessons. True change only happens when we as individuals decide to let go of the things that are holding us back and keeping us down.

Now that I am older I know why it is so vital to be mindful of what my mistakes are teaching me. Consequences are inevitable weather they are good or bad that is why it is so important to be careful in this life. The same bad choices causes us to end up with the same bad results out of life and until we are ready to face the real truth in our hearts about why things are the way they are and why do we continuously fail at everything we do, it is only then that we open up our eyes and decide to “Never Make the Same Mistake Twice.”

Regency Hotel Case Study

...Regency Hotel Case Study The Regency Hotel is a beautiful five star hotel that is located in Bangkok. This hotel was established by a local group of investors and was operated by a Thai general manger at the beginning. This Regency Hotel was one of the country’s most prestigious hotels. The employee count for the hotel was around 700 and the moral of the employees was very high. They hotel offered very good employee benefits, above average salaries, plus job security. They also included a great yearend bonus that was not based on the hotels overall performance. After some time the hotel was sold to a very large American hotel chain, after finding out the general manager decided it was time to take an early retirement because of the change of the ownership. For the most part the American company kept all of the Regency’s employees and only did minor transfers of positions. The new general manger was named John Becker, he was an American manager with 10 years of experience in the industry. The decision to choose Becker was easy due to his success in integrating pervious hotels in the past. Becker strongly believed in empowerment, which is a certain degree of autonomy and responsibility for the decision-making regarding the hotels tasks. Becker expects his employees to really go the extra mile. Becker expected the employees to be guest-oriented at all times to drive up the customer service. Becker had a lot of success in his previous positions from empowerment, and found...

Dorian's Mistakes

...We all make mistakes and end up learning from them. “Everybody has a chapter they don’t read out loud” (Word Porn). No one is perfect so therefore, everyone is going to make a bad decision. “Good people sometimes make bad decisions. They mess up, and they let others down” (Simple Reminders). But the biggest thing about making mistakes, is learning from them, to not do the same thing again, and gaining knowledge about something. If somebody make mistake after mistake, it wouldn’t seem right. We believe in “we learn from our mistakes”. Canning as a Solution

...problems with the withdrawal of caning, or any sort of physically inflicted pain, as a punishment for students. What I mean is, when students don’t get punished, they will get into more trouble in the future. Based on this, I fully agree that caning is an effective way to punish students. This is where caning can be part of the solution. Please, let me explain. Students get into trouble because it is their nature to make lots of mistakes and learn through them. Yes, they learn new and important things in life through mistakes. It is okay to make one or two mistakes once in a while, but when a student gets into trouble, or keeps repeating the same mistakes one too many times, this indicates a problem. Maybe the student does not realize that he is causing trouble, or hurting other people. For all we know he might even be enjoying causing trouble. If this student is not punished, he is certain to do more harm again, and this is not good for everybody. As a solution, caning will make the student realize that what he is doing is wrong, and that he should never make this mistake again. As you can see, caning becomes part of the long-term solution to shape a student’s...

Being Suspended From School

...To be honest, I cannot see myself having been suspended from school for academic reasons. I have always been an outstanding student who has always followed the school’s and society’s norms. My mother taught me that having discipline in life and never giving your dreams up are the key to being successful. That is how I have come so far from being an immature adolescent who used to blame her misfortune of not having the privilege of attending school in this country because I was already a high school graduated student from my native country when I was sixteen and had to work instead to being a prosperous woman that had overcome multiple challenges in her life to be one more step closer to achieve her dream of becoming an environmental design...

Psychology

...yourself? This process is more of a mental evaluation of you. Q: On p. 18 of your textbook, the authors present the hypothetical possibility of being hooked up to an ‘experience machine’ that would guarantee a constant state of happiness and positive emotion. Would you choose to be hooked up to such a machine? Why or why not? In your response, differentiate between hedonic and eudaimonic concepts of happiness. I personally would not like to be hooked up to an ‘experience machine.’ I love feeling happiness along with other emotions but I feel by not having negative emotions we would never learn from things. A good example of this brings us to post traumatic growth, if we experience a traumatic event because of something we did we will not experience those negative feelings helping us grow and not make the same mistake twice, instead we would always see everything as positive and make continuous mistakes that could put ourselves or others in danger. Hedonic concepts of happiness are described as the enjoyment of life and its...

What I Have Learned

...friends down the road. The little things make life a little lighter sometimes where as the large things helps you open your eyes and helps you in the long run. Life has taught me numerous things. Everyday I learn something new, adding to that list. One of the very first things that I recall learning, is to not lie on the ground attempting to look underneath the vacuum when mom is in the middle of vacuuming. For some individuals, this lesson is one that does not need to be learned, but for me, it was something I had to learn. Spending hours of crying, as my mother pulled every strand of hair out, and hours of my mom being annoyed yet laughing about it anyways because how bizarre is it, that I got my hair stuck in the vacuum. While facing the pain, I thought I learned that I should steer clear of housework; my mom on the other hand, did not. Something else I have learned is that telling someone that they look ill or worn-out, isn’t going to make him or her feel better. I, of all people should know, this because if someone were to walk up to me and say something like that, my heart would certainly sink to my feet. You want to treat other people how you want to be treated, so don’t point out other people’s flaws or sleepiness, unless you’re equipped for others to do the same to you. Another thing that I have learned is that when I’m the reason that the toilet paper runs out, I am also the one that needs to replace it. It is never a fun period when someone is sitting on...

13 Things Mentally Strong People........

...We often hear advice like, "Think positive and good things will happen," or "Try your hardest and eventually things will work out." While these words of wisdom certainly have merit, what may seem like well meaning suggestions won't help you reach your goals if you're simultaneously engaging in unhealthy behavior. Recognizing and replacing the unhealthy thoughts, behaviors, and feelings that may be sabotaging your best efforts is the key to building mental strength. Try comparing mental strength to physical strength. While a bodybuilder maintains his physique with good habits, like going to the gym, it's equally important for that bodybuilder to get rid of unhealthy habits, like eating junk food. An exercise regimen won't be effective in building lean muscle unless unhealthy eating habits are also eliminated. Similarly, building mental muscle requires hard work, dedication and exercise. In addition to adopting healthy habits, avoiding detrimental habits, like negative thoughts, unproductive behavior, and self-destructive emotions, is also essential. Whether you're working on becoming a more patient parent or you're striving to become an elite athlete, building mental strength will help you reach your goals. Learn to identify the common pitfalls that you're prone to and practice exercises that will help you become your best self.  Here are the 13 things mentally strong people don't do: 1. Waste Time Feeling Sorry for Themselves Many of life's problems and sorrows are inevitable...

Sustainability

...they provide to the fast food industry. From Jeff Swartz, Dan Cathy could have utilized some diplomacy. Rather than leaving the issue to government and politics, Dan Cathy when asked about his views, he said “guilty as charged” which made the situation worse. Just as Jeff Swarz was open to the idea of change and he personally responded to each one of his angry protestors, Chick Fila could have easily practiced good PR considering their position in the fast food industry. In the aftermath, many government officials and public got involved which included protestors and supporters, which hampered but also at the same time grew sales of Chick Fila. Unlike Swartz’s issue, which included supply chain and international suppliers of leather, Chick Fila didn’t have to deal with the issue of operations. There wasn’t strong lobbying for or against Chick Fila’s issue. However, at the same time the Supreme Court of the U.S struck down the Defense of Marriage Act. Afterwards, Dan Cathy tweeted: "Sad day for our nation; founding fathers would be ashamed of our gen. to abandon wisdom of the ages re: cornerstone of strong societies." This shows Chick Fila’s stance on gay marriage however, it is even worse PR to use a social media platform to say something like that, especially after your company is already going through a PR disaster. The tweet was deleted but not before it was seen by the nation and archived. Essentially, good PR includes a few things. For one, if you don’t want to see it, hear...

Flannery's Tyranny

...It is hard to understand why Flannery all the sudden decided that pigs aren’t pets but at the end he decided that any animal that ever walked into the town was known as a pet no matter how bigs they were they were pets he also made it clear that at least it wasn't an elephant. Flannery made it way to complicated if he would have just been taken the twenty-five cents. Would have made the world a way better place. Flannery would have never had to deal with all the pigs and Mr.Morehouse wouldn’t have left the town. So Flannery really does deserve it. Corporal Punishment

...child will learn never to break the vase again, by using both methods, but the physical punishment method has its consequences. These consequences are serious and can cause both physical and emotional pain. This emotional pain will soon break out and make the child aggressive and hard going. It will happen. It’s a fact. Many of our friends that are aggressive are usually like this because they come from a background of physical beating. Corporal punishment is a crime and laws should be applied because it can physically, emotionally and mentally alter a child’s progression. The first thing I want to point out is that aggression doesn’t come from nowhere. Everything starts from a source. When a parent beats his child, this child will become aggressive in his teen and adult years. Alice Miller said in her book Breaking Down The Wall Of Silence “Hitting children teaches them to become hitters themselves.” She means that when a child sees his parents using physical punishment, the child, who looks up to his parents, will become aggressive as the parents were. Being aggressive is hardly as bad as having emotional problems in your early years. All of these are consequences of physical punishment. Now, the second thing I want to point out is that physical punishment doesn’t only affect the behavior of the child physically, but also emotionally. Think of it like this. When you hit your car one too many times, it will eventually let you down, shape and efficiency wise. Same goes for a child...

Sermon for Youth Group

...What is beauty? What does it mean? Well I asked people that question....and do you know what they said? I quote “when you look appealing to other people,” “when other people say you look good.” Do you know what the definition of beauty is in the dictionary? “the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the eye, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.)” I want to emphasize for a moment on the word eye..... E.Y.E. See, what God thinks is beautiful is a whole lot different from what “society” and the “general public” thinks is beautiful. The way I see it the ONLY opinion that even matters is Gods. The beauty he loves, is inner beauty. My mom always told me beauty is as beauty does. See I went through a really hard time all through elementary school and all through middle school. Obviously I am not the skinniest person in the world. I mean come on people lets face it, am I gonna be a skinny super model....no. Do I care....no! But what I did care about is what people thought of me. How people perceived me....when they looked at me did they see just some chubby teen, or do they see a vivacious, hilarious girl with a cool personality? Well, what do you think they thought? They thought the chubby teen......I used to get made fun of so badly in school. People would call me names and laugh at me. I felt extremely insecure ALL the time.............................. The reason I want to stress so hard...
