It is a formulated framework consisting of two elements. The structural element contains components like location and size of the organization, whereas the infrastructural element focuses more on aspects like product quality control. Competencies
Design an effective operations strategy around competency priorities to focus on how the organization plans to offer its competitive edge in the marketplace and how it distinguishes itself from other organizations that offer similar products or services. Many organizations target one competency from the traditional list of cost, quality, flexibility and service. For example, a quality-driven operations strategy focuses on beating out the competition with its products' durability and reliability.
Cost Driven
An organization designing a cost driven operations strategy focuses on providing a product more cost-efficient than its rivals. Many cost driven products are commodities such as salt, flour, sugar or even gasoline, which customers usually buy strictly on the basis of price because they perceive little or no difference between brands.

...IT 505 CORE TECHNOLOGY Short Paper Information Assurances-Countermeasures Southern New Hampshire University Sai Nithin Reddy Lambu, Submitted to Donald Jelley Roles of Core Technologies in an Effective It System A successful IT system is something that is composed of several different functional components to make it a whole. It takes each component to efficiently work so that the entire system runs smoothly. When one or more parts of the system are not properly working it can affect the entire IT system as a whole and render it completely vulnerable to people with malicious intentions. In this paper I will discuss the role of each component in it and shed some light as to why each is needed. First let us take a look at computer programming. This element takes on different program designs created by engineers and uses one of several different programming languages to write executable code that computers can read. Programming is the source for the foundation and continuing function of the systems that countless people depend upon for all kinds of information exchange in both commerce and leisure. For example all of the software that I used to write this paper a programmer had to create some code to tell the computer how to read in my key strokes, how to display them on the screen, and how to compute the binary code for each letter. The beauty of programming is that you do not always have to invent the wheel. You can utilize code that is already in use and modify it to work...

Article Analysis

...Article Analysis Nithin Balaji, Sam Wilson In this article by Seth Waldner, he is writing about the struggle of Michael Same, who is the first openly gay Professional Football Player. The central claim is that of Michael Sam himself in that he wants to be seen as a “football player”, and not a “gay football player.” He is using a claim of value, which is making the audience, who in this case is the whole nation of NFL fans, make a valuable judgment based on good morals. By utilizing this claim, Sam, who is essentially the author through his numerous quotes in the article, is sending a direct message to the people of America. He wants all people, regardless of sexual preference, to put aside the gay distraction and focus on his outstanding football skills. In writing this article, Waldner appeals the reader by using ethos, along with appealing to the reader’s emotional character. Sam quoted “You know, I’ve been in locker rooms with all kinds of slurs being said,” he said. “And I don’t think anyone means it. ... As time goes on, everyone will adapt. If someone wants to call me a name, I’ll have a conversation with that guy and hopefully it won’t lead to nothing else.” This makes the readers think emotionally as to their own conduct toward gays. He wants people to see that he is not affected negatively by the criticism by ignorant people. Waldner utilizes ethos by stating the ethical argument for Michael Sam. New York Giants Gm Jerry Reese said that Sam’s sexual preference...

A Caffiene Giant

...A Caffeine Giant: The Growth of Starbucks Abstract This paper examines Starbucks’ plan for rapid and thoroughly aggressive expansion in order to become the premier coffee ship in the United States and further, the World. Building upon a brand name that is recognizable worldwide, Starbucks continues to defy expectations, as it claims the title of the fastest growing fast-food company in the world (Horovitz, 2015). This paper provides a comprehensive analysis of Starbucks 7-year plan for growth (Tobey, 2014), and compares it to Quelch’s periodical on the demise of Starbucks (2008); suggesting that Quelch’s assessment that Starbucks growth destroyed its brand is misguided and inaccurate, while the opposite is then true. A Caffeine Giant: The Growth of Starbucks As the premier marketer of coffee and coffee products in the United States, Starbucks, an American corporation founded in 1971, is reaching new peaks as a global powerhouse, a seemingly unprecedented achievement following a slump in sales from 2008 to 2009. What makes this climb more magnificent is that it does so while competing against fast food giants such as McDonalds, Subway, and Burger King (Horovitz, 2014), dominating its competitors within its respective industry. John Quelch surmised that the slump Starbucks faced in 2008 was due to over expansion and a turn away from those consumers who wanted premium coffee with a personal experience (2008), when in reality...

Dividend Policy at Fpl

...Nithin Geereddy 80842082 Corporate Finance Tuesday Section Dividend Policy at FPL Group, Inc Case Q1) Why do firms pay dividends? What, in general, are the advantages and disadvantages of paying cash dividends? Ans: The purpose of dividend payouts is to return wealth back to the company shareholders instead of using it for operations. Dividends provide investors with regular income from their investments and act as an incentive to continue or start investing in the company.  The company’s share price will drop in relation to the dividend payout, because a company’s value has not risen, they are just allocating money differently. All dividends must be declared by the board of directors and are taxable as income to the recipients. Taking into account the many theories of dividend policy including the Dividend Irrelevance, we can conclude that firms should pay out as dividends “any cash flow that is surplus after the firm has invested in all available positive net present value projects.” In some cases, this may be a way of signaling that the company is financially stable and capable of fulfilling dividend obligations. It may also be a way for companies to mitigate agency problems when they have excess cash. Advantages of paying cash dividends include: * A means of distributing excess cash and lacking...

P.Sudheesh, Dr.M.Jayakumar Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Dept. of ECE, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Ettimadai, Coimbatore – 641105. 1 2 ABSTRACT Orthogonal Frequency Division M ultiplexing (OFDM ) has been accepted as the modulation scheme of choice for the next generation high-speed wireless communication systems due to the advantages that it offers like high spectral efficiency, resistance to multipath fading and resistance to frequency selective fading. M oreover, it lends itself to simple channel equalization. Conventional single carrier systems do not provide such advantages and hence, OFDM would almost ubiquitously be used for high speed wireless data transmission. However, the main drawback of such systems over single carrier systems is that in the presence of noise, there is an increased computational complexity at the receiver end to decode the data. In this paper, a low complexity detection algorithm is proposed for OFDM systems. M aximum likelihood detection is taken as the baseline detection algorithm and the proposed algorithm is compared with...
