The Fourteenth Amendment is an important amendment, which defines what it means to be a US citizen and protects certain rights to the people. Out of the entire Fourteenth Amendment, I believe that there are three important sections. The first three sections that make up the Fourteenth Amendment are critical in today’s society. Lets begin by discussing the first section of the Fourteenth Amendment. The citizen clause, which is the first section, talks about individuals who were born in the United States of America and their rights. Many years ago, before the Fourteenth Amendment was created African Americans were not allowed to become citizens because of slavery. This limited the right of those who were able to liberate themselves and escape slavery. As time passed and society enlarged, immigrants who had no documentation whose children were born in the United States were finally considered US citizens. This clause allows all individuals born in the United States the right to be a US citizen. Another clause that I believe is covered by the Fourteenth Amendment is the due process clause. After reading the section, what I understood was that it protects the First Amendment rights of the people and it prevents citizens rights from being taken away without a due process. Although some people may think that the first amendment covers this portion, the Fourteenth Amendment enforces the Bill of Rights on the states and federal level. This insures and clarifies that no one can ever limit the rights of its citizens without fairness. Another clause that is covered in the Fourteenth Amendment is the equal protection clause. This section of the amendment states that there may be no discrimination against the accused by law. The federal government enforces this protection on the states. In the years to follow, this clause was used to end discrimination and segregation in

Personal Narrative: John Glenn Play

...made my third trip over to Muskingum College to watch John Glenn play. In the two previous games they had posted wins and I was expecting to see the same thing happen on this night, against a Crooksville team that had struggled all season long. On the games first offensive play,Matthew Stewart busted free for a 52-yard gain, bringing the John Glenn fans to their feet. The kid made the run look easy, made so in a large part by his offensive line and his own field vision. The 5-play,80-yard drive came to a end, with a 12-yard touchdown catch by,#2 Jake Radcliffe. The pass by Stewart was right where he needed it to be. The point after kick by, #7 Score Perkins, made this a,7-0 game, with...

In college football, all four teams in the college football playoff in 2016 combined for 3 losses on the whole season ("FBS"). This does not mean that the NFL does not have good games, it just means there is more at stake for college games. Over the past 11 years, the average margin of victory in the Super Bowl is 22.4 points (Reilly). Personal Narrative: How To Play A Sport

...I do not actually like or play any sport, however, if I am able to change anything about a sport, I would like to change the way rugby is being played. The rules to playing rugby is that one cannot pass the ball forward, only backwards passing and lateral passing is allowed. Also, it is a must to tackle while playing rugby. When one is being tackled and is on the ground, they have no choice but to release the ball. Tackling is really important when playing rugby. The changes that I would like to implement would be that forward passing is allowed and also no tackling is allowed during the game. Pittsburgh's Hue Football Research Paper

...Both offensive coordinators, Pittsburgh’s Todd Haley and Cincinnati’s Hue Jackson have weapons galore to stress the backend and negate pass rushes. Starting with Haley’s unit, it begins with Pittsburgh’s multi-faceted running back, Le'Veon Bell, who’s arguably the best all-around back in the game. Inside zone runs are part of Haley’s playbook, but where Bell and the Steelers’ ground game has found most of its success has been executing on man blocks (counter and power) runs that fit the style of Bell’s patience and vision. As an extension of the running game to negate Cincinnati’s pass rush, look for Haley to use empty spread sets, utilizing Bell’s tremendous receiving skills, lining him up in the...

Libero Research Paper

...the rush of a hard serve coming towards you? Do you enjoy being the one who dives for a volleyball as the other team’s hardest hitter spikes the ball? This is the rush and experience that you will get when you play the position of libero. I am a libero. Everyone may not know what exactly this position is, but to sum it all up, the libero is a back-row defensive specialist in the sport of volleyball. The libero’s job is to receive serves, dig hits, pass, and occasionally set. To excel in this position you must be competitive, love the sport, be committed, be aggressive, and always have a positive attitude for both you and your team. The position emerged internationally in 1998 to improve defense and ball movement. “The thought was that tall players have more difficulty with ball control and smaller players are quicker, more agile, and can play better court defense” says Jeff Gordon. This is not always necessarily true for every team, but most it is. There are special rules that apply only to the...

Netball

...NETBALL INTRODUCTION Netball is a ball sport played by two teams of seven players. Games are played on a rectangular court with raised goal rings at each end. Each team attempts to score goals by passing a ball down the court and shooting it through its goal ring. Players are assigned specific positions, which define their roles within the team and restrict their movement to certain areas of the court. During general play, a player with the ball can hold onto it for only three seconds before shooting for a goal or passing to another player. The winning team is the one that scores the most goals. Netball games are 60 minutes long. From the start, it was considered socially appropriate for women to play netball. A game is played in four quarters, each lasting fifteen minutes. There are intervals of three minutes between the first and second quarters and between the third and fourth quarters, and an interval of five minutes at half time. If an umpire or player calls time, the time keeper pauses the timer. When play resumes, the timer is restarted. A maximum of two minutes is allowed for an injury. HISTORY The history of netball can be traced to the early development of basketball. By 1960, the rules of netball were standardized internationally.  The second half of the 20th century saw international competition expand, with the sport's premier international competition, the World Netball Championships, starting in 1963. Netball has also been contested at the Commonwealth Games since...

...together to play what Silver claimed to be the "ultimate game experience," adapting the sport from a form of Frisbee Football. In 1979 and 1980 the Ultimate Players Association was formed. The UPA organized regional tournaments and has crowned a national champion every year since 1979. Ultimate frisbee is now called just Ultimate. Ultimate Frisbee Rules To begin play the ultimate players from each team line up on their end zones and the defense team throws the disc to the other team as a kick-off. We normally throw the frisbee far so the offensive team has poor field position and a chance for the us to get down the field soon enough to stop advances. The disc may be moved in any direction by completing a pass to a teammate. After catching a pass, a player is required to come to a stop as quickly as possible, and then can only move their non-pivot foot. A point is scored when a player catches a pass in the end zone his team is attacking. After a point is scored, the teams exchange ends. The team who just scored remains in that end zone, and the opposing team takes the opposite end zone. An incomplete pass results in a change of possession. When this happens the defense immediately becomes the offense and gains possession of the disc where it comes to a stop on the field of play, or where it first traveled out of bounds. A foul is the result of contact between players, although incidental contact does not constitute a foul. When a foul disrupts possession, the play resumes as...

The Coach

...Professor Nora Kabaji English 100 Name of Essay Midterm Essay 11 May 2009 Topic of this essay: Discuss the effects of one personal goal or hobby that you have pursued and enjoyed (or are enjoying) in your life, such as your education, your marriage, a place you are living in, a game, or a hobby. The Coach There are many hobbies that I have had as I get older, but none have made an impact as much as coaching has done for me. My son’s soccer team was chosen without a coach and was in jeopardy of not being able to play, so I did the right thing that any parent would do and I volunteered to be the head coach. That decision was a decision that has given me a new outlook on life and for my future. I never really thought that I would fall in love with coaching as much as I did. Coaching has become a very valuable hobby to me that has taught me many valuable lessons. Coaching has taught me to prepare in everything I do, it has taught me to be a better competitor, and it has given me the ability to be a better teacher. Coaching as a hobby has been a very fun and eventful time in my life, but coaching has taught me to prepare for not only my games but for everything I do in life. I was a procrastinator when it came to completing tasks, and it would drive my family crazy. When I started coaching I noticed that I had to prepare well in advance, and my preparing started months before any practice or game had started. I go over and over in my head what the next practice...

Nfl Rule Changes

...appropriately protective rules and policies has always been, and continues to be, an evolving process. The NFL continually evaluates how rules can best be integrated into the game to address safety and health issues. Each year the NFL Competition Committee conducts a complete review of player injuries and discusses means by which the NFL can reduce them through the implementation of new rules, or by clarifying or strengthening enforcement of existing rules. Rules the league has established or changed for the protection of players have not only had a positive impact in the NFL, but have subsequently been incorporated at other levels of play, including collegiate, high school and youth programs. Through the NFL’s ongoing partnerships and educational initiatives, the awareness of the importance of rules related to on-field conduct and return-to-play, at all levels and ages, is broadened.
