1. Identify at least two reasons Romanians are motivated to obtain a job at Nokia’s new factory in Cluji. There are a lot of reasons why the Rumanians are motivated to obtain a job in Nokia’s new factory in Cluji, one of them is that they choose Cluj that is home of a regarded technical university call Universities Technical din Cluj-Napoca and this will give the student an opportunity to work with a recognized company, do internships and even after graduation get a good job there. Another point that is stated is the fact that they are coming with the vision of a competitive salary that will make people interested in getting a job with them or even replacing their current job to have a better opportunity. One big influence is the fact that the company is already thinking of the amenities that they will offer in this facility, like cafeteria with free food, a gym, playing fields and even a sauna.

2. Identify at least three factors that are likely to contribute to the intrinsic motivation of those hired. Explain how this factors will contribute. The factors that are more likely to contribute to the intrinsic motivation of those hired are, one of the plans of Nokia is to turn the plant over to local managers within four years, this is an exiting opportunity to people that live there or are planning to live there to have a good work with a good company knowing that their vision is to stay. They are also giving factory chiefs financial incentives to help each other rather than competing and hoarding information, this gives any employee a sense of partnership and the feeling that I am important and valuable for this company. There is a big intrinsic motivation when they were offering better economic stimulus, yes we know that money is not all, but when you can have an opportunity to work for a distinguish company that is offering training and knowledge in exchange of loyalty and good workforce, is really hard to not be motivated and especially with this economy.

3. Identify at least three factors that are likely to contribute to the extrinsic motivation of those hired. Explain how these factors will contribute. When we talk about the factors that can contribute to the extrinsic motivation, when you get involved the government, they donated land for the factory, building commuter rail station, and the person in charged of the plant is serving as a goodwill ambassador, what else would you want from your future Boss. There is the motivation of having good facilities like gym, free cafeteria, spa and playing fields that will make the work environment more delightful. For some people being part of a recognized company like Nokia is very motivating due to the opportunities that they offer not only locally but internationally.

4. Identify at least two ways Nokia motivates global managers to cooperate with each other and share their knowledge and expertise. The way that Nokia uses to motivate managers to cooperate with each other and share their knowledge and expertise are, giving incentives to help each others rather than competing and hoarding information. Also they are planning on giving the company to local managers with in four years, this is excellent opportunity to demonstrate your leadership and knowledge so you can participate in this exiting opportunity. There is the international opportunity that is offer to the management of traveling the world, the same way they are bringing managers from other countries to help open this one, in the future they can have the opportunity to do the same and share their knowledge with others.

5. Update the case information by using at least two data sources in addition to the text. This article is taken from the www.euronews.net page in which they explain how Germany is angry with this because 2,300 people will be laid of, also speak about how the reason might be due wages in Romania are a fraction of what it is in Germany. In this other site www.eetindia.co.in explained that Nokia made an agreement and I quote “The mobile phone maker said the package agreed April 8 allows for the plant to close on June 30 as planned. After that, Nokia will set up a "transfer company" for affected staff for one year” (Walko, 2008). In this source http://www.redorbit.com is explained how efficient this new building is, they specify and I quote “Nokia's (NYSE: NOK) Jucu Factory in Romania has been chosen as one of the world's leading green buildings by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)” (Nokia, 2009). This is really good news, especially because there are a lot of news talking about the bad taste that Nokia left in Germany.
