Java is a computer software that was developed by Sun Microsystems and was acquired by Oracle Corporation. The system is for developing application software, it is a cross platform in the computer environment. Java is used in many different computer platforms for example mobile phones, supercomputers and enterprise servers. Java runs in secure environments in order to provide many features of native applications and can also be embedded in HTML pages.
SQL is the structured query language that was one of the first commercial languages for Edgar F Codd’s relational model that was influential in a 1970 paper. "A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks." SQL became one of the most widely used data base languages. SQL has become the standard of (ANSI) American National Standards Institute in 1986. In 1987 became the standard for (ISO) International Organization of Standardization. The standard has been revised and now includes a larger set of features. Even though there is a existence of standards most of SQL code is not completely portable among different database systems without some sort of adjustment.
C++ is a general purpose programming language that has imperative object oriented and generic programming features along with providing facilities for a low level memory manipulation. It was designed toward system programming and embedded resources for a large system that has efficiency and flexibility performance. C++ has been found useful in other contexts with key strengths for software infrastructure and resource applications this includes desktop applications. The program language is available on many platforms and can provide various organizations including Microsoft, Intel and IBM. Is a standardized by the (ISO) International Organization for Standardization.
ANSI The American National Standards Institute is a private non profit organization that is responsible for development of voluntary consensus standards for products, systems, services for the United States. There other function is to coordinate the U.S. standards with international standards so American products and be used worldwide.
HL-7 is Health Level Seven International that is a not for profit, ANSI accredited standards of developing organization dedicated to providing comprehensive framework that is related to standards for exchange, sharing, integration and retrieval of electronic health information in order to support clinical practice and management. W3C The World Wide Web Consortium is the international standards organization for the World Wide Web that was founded by Tim Berners-Lee. The members of the organizations work full time in setting up the development of standards for the World Wide Web. The W3C is also involved in education and outreach of development of software and servers.
UMLS stands for The Unified Medical Language System this system has many controlled vocabularies within biomedical science. It provides mapping structure for vocabularies and allows one to translate among different terminology systems. Is also be viewed as a comprehensive thesaurus of biomedical concepts. Provides facilities the natural language processing they need. This is intended to be used by developers of systems in the medical informatics.
ASTM is American Society for Testing and Materials is the international standards organization that develops and publishes consensus technical standards for wide range of materials and products.
MeSH is Medical Subject Headings that are suggestions for review on literary warrant and other criteria for usefulness and reproducibility in understandability. Avoid short acronyms because they can create ambiguities. The vocabulary is now handled through the Contact of the National Library of Medicine.
ISO stands for the International Organization for Standardization. It is an independent non government organization. ISO is the world’s largest developer of voluntary international standards and facilitates world trade by providing common standards between nations. As of right now there have been about twenty thousand standards that have been set. They have gone over manufactured products, technology that leads to food safety and agriculture along with healthcare.
SGML is the Standard Generalized Markup Language, these are a set of standards that have been approved by ISO that enable the user to create appropriate markup scheme for tagging elements of electronic documents for a facility to product multiple versions in various print and electronic formats.
XML Extensible Markup Language is the markup language that defines a certain set of rules for encoding documents with in a format that can be read by both humans and machines. It is a free open standard and is defined by W3C. The design goal is to emphasize simplicity and usability across the internet.
Standard in healthcare operations is the activity to solutions for repetitive applications to problems. Procedures are a process of establishing and implementing of standards making standards the activity within the context of a quality system. Documents consist of company policies and management plans; these include guidelines, instructions, logs, templates and forms. These documents are established and approved by nominated body of providers for all common and repeated use, the guidelines and activities need to be viewed in order to promote consistency, interchangeability, reproducibility in order to facilitate communication.
The three standards that are most important are Java, ISO and SQL because they are standards that are needed in order to have products and services that are reliable and safe along with good quality. These standards help businesses to increase their productivity while minimizing errors and waste. The standards also serve as a safeguard for consumers and end-users for services and products that are certified and set internationally.
