Nouvelle-France: The New Colony Of France In North America

Submitted By
Words 110
Pages 1
Nouvelle-France was the name of the new colony of France in North America. It had taken many years after this “new land” was discovered for permanent residencies to be formed along the coast. Finally, when the French were looking for riches and power in the form of new land they turned their sights to the north eastern coast of North America including modern day Newfoundland (Acadia), New Brunswick, Ontario and Quebec. After years of fighting with the natives and failed settlements the King of France, Louis XIV, stepped in introducing a new form of government and land distribution which would allow for settlement and maintain total control in North America.
